We need to think long term though. Where has this short term strategy gotten us so far?

Also, side note but if De Gea leaves we already have his replacement at the club in my opinion.
True. In the short term Romero is good enough, in the long term we have Dean Henderson. If de Gea leaves there is no need to buy another keeper this summer.

Would be ideal for United.

Competition for both Shaw and Martial, and would be very well suited to playing LM in a 4-4-2 if/when that formation is used.

The fact that he's also just generally a very good player with lots of experience for his age is the most important thing though. Would be a great signing for anyone.

I agree. Promising English player, he would fit into the " Ole Plan"

If we sign him then I think we'll play him as LW with James covering the RW. Ole seem to want hardworking wingers as backup wingers.

Or a replacement for one of them. I know he's just put pen to paper but I wouldn't be too upset if we sold Martial.

No I wouldn't either. Saw his running stats the other day and they were abyssmal both in distance covered and sprints.

If we're buying championship players, he's a very good one. Could develop into a big talent. Worth a gamble imo.

I'd prefer if we signed Telles or Tierney but that's not happening...

He'd be smart to choose Spurs over United at the moment. Any young player would if they had the choice
Plus, its an hour away from where he plays now. Sad to say this but he'll have more chances getting in the Utd team.

This seems like such a Spurs /Levy signing, especially now that he would be so cheap.

Definitely smells of that to me too. I can see him thinking of another Bale in the making due to Sessegnons LB/LW thing he has going on right now.

For sure.

I don't mean to be disgusting but the fact that he would have cost 50 million last summer and apparently 15-25 million this one is likely to make Levy a bit damp in his trousers I'd imagine....

Where and for who would he play at Spurs?

With us he only has to outperform Shaw or Martial and that should be easier no?

Unless Spurs want him for LB for Rose? But he is a winger now right?
Seems like Spurs always buy and always get linked with wingers or is that just me?

I disagree. Three reasons when viewed through the lens of a young player:

* United is still a bigger club Spurs. Always will be.
* Opportunities to play significant minutes
* We will more likely pay more in wages

Newcastle is also a bigger club than Wolves. Who would you rather join as a player?

How on earth do you conclude that? Ole is a firm advocate of youth, he'd be more likely to get game time at United. I'd say it's the ideal time for any youngster to join United. plus we're more likely to financially reward him if he performs.

We've got an unproven coach who might not last long, an unknown style and a terrible track record in developing players in recent years. Frankly, I wouldn't join United.

Spurs might not have their manager much longer unless they back him with transfers. He's mentioned this numerous times.
United are rebuilding and there's going to be a lot of opportunity for players to break into the team. Can't say the same with Spurs.
Whom you would or wouldn't join is simply not relevant.
Ole has spoken of his vision, I'm sure that any potential signings will be made aware of that. Develop our own players, firmly advocating youth etc. I'm sure there are many young players who's give their left one to join United. By the looks of it we've already signed up 2 teenagers this summer already. Plus there's the United factor, joining a truly great club with a fantastic history of winning, something Spurs sadly lack and Ryan wasn't born the last time they won anything major

Is he a very good player? After a great goalscoring season in the championship hasn't he struggled in the PL? When I've watched them he's looked physically weak and unable to impose himself. What actually makes him that good?

We've rebuilt a few times in recent years and nothing came out of it. Wanting to do things is one thing, doing it is another - and we haven't been able to.

There's a question club around every club, obviously, but United are nothing but question marks right now. We've got our name and we've got our money. The rest just isn't very attractive right now.

Like I said it very much looks like we've tied up 2 youngsters already and have another 1 almost in the bag. So reality looks a tad more rosy than your opinion.

Hey, I'm not saying we're not going to be able to get any players. Like I said, we still have our name and we have money. That's plenty. City didn't get stronger a decade ago because they were such an attractive side.

Having said that, there's also the question of competition. Seems like Brighton or Leeds were our rivals for Daniel James, for instance. Not too difficult to see it off. When it comes to someone choosing whether to put his career in the hands of Ole or Pep/Klopp/Pochettino, that would be a different story.

Pochettino has the credentials/actually has a record of success with developing young players. He has that going for him, but I see your point as well.

You would probably make a lot more money signing for Wolves than you would for Newcastle right now. You would not make more money signing for Spurs than you would for United.

We win on money but I was replying to "united are a bigger club than spurts" -- yes we are but current form matters.

Rosy meaning challenging for top 4 in 2022? Great stuff
There's a happy medium lad. We don't need galacticos. But we need immediate impact.

We've not bought anyone for 18 months now so we're definitely not stockpiling wingers :D

He'd likely play further forward initially but maybe left back at home against teams we're expected to dominate against.

It's easy to forget just how young he is and how raw he often looked this season, taking into account of course how poor Fulham were for the whole season.

I really doubt he'd be starting most games for either Man Utd or Spurs.

Sessegnon and Shaw on the left, Dalot and AWB on the right, that would be perfect if ever possible.
