Not surprising. I fear the worst every time his thread is bumped.

We'll never know if it'd have turned out different if he'd have signed for us instead of Spurs but I'm certain he still would have headed to Italy at the same time anyway.

English clubs, certainly including United, were absolutely crap payers in the early nineties. It's why the cream of the crop at that time generally ended up in Italy, where all the money was.
Gazza always seemed to me to be easily led by the nose by those who wanted to cash in on his ability. I think Fergie might have been a bit too much for him, given that his mates were always bending his ear about what he should and shouldn't do.

Bloody hell that's real tragi comedy!

Here's a real legend (beaming smile)

Gazza indecipherable mumbles " coo- cain?"

Guys face just drops.

Horrible.
He looks 90 odd. Not 50

Every time, you just suspect this worst. This isn’t far off it either. Can’t keep relapsing like this. Will be gone soon at this rate, sadly.

Can’t help but think it’s the best thing for him. Hard to watch him like this, it’s tragic stuff. That’s the shell of a man.

Thought he had cleaned himself up as well.
Man, that's a sad watch. From Gazza sounding half dead to the poor bloke who sounds crushed when asked. Never meet your heroes..

I kinda find it hard to feel sorry for the bloke when he decides to upload a clearly embarrassing video of his 'hero' on to the internet.

First thing I thought, the guy posted a video of his supposed hero for a few internet points. With fans like that who needs enemies. Its kind off the story of gazza's life, on top of his own self destructive tendencies everyone always wanted a piece of him

Yup. A pen shootout from being a finalist (and likely winner). He also made the all-star team from the tournament.
He would not have played in the final. He was yellow carded and cried and then made loads of money out of crying in adverts.......great player in different era when real tackles were permitted

Reminds me very much of an old friend of mine. He kept going dry for months even years at a time but would always get back on it. He had the same Bloat as Gazza as well as his liver and kidneys packed up and he just retained fluid all over his body. And he was only a small guy, was never fat so the bloating looked worse. He would wake up and drink a bottle of Vodka to come round and stop the shakes then hammer the cider for the rest of the day. We tried everything to help him. Ironically he died when he stopped suddenly, went cold turkey, had a massive fit and cracked his head open on his doorstep. 36 years old.

Addiction is a motherf'er.

My brother is currently in prison for over a month now - 1 month after we (his siblings) paid for his rehab and he came out "clean".

Sort of feel sorry for addicts, and a part of me also doesn't, if I'm honest.

So sorry to hear that. My best wishes to your family.

It's a difficult one the guy who posted it did so with the message Gazza needs help seriously .

He may have thought it the best thing to do

If he's so crushed why put it online?

Not defending Gazza - loads of people have addiction problems and most people don't have the resources he had. But surely the guy a) saw he was a state before filming the video and b) had the option not to upload it.

OK, that's a good message at least. When I watched it, it felt a bit exploitative.

How much more help can he get and why should bodies like the PFA keep helping him when there’s a whole load of yesteryear footballers in desperate situations having played their trade on meagre earnings.

Bloody hell ! It’s not Mother Theresa who’s in trouble, it’s Paul Gascoigne - decent footballer and wife beater.

Perspective.

Just such a worrying clip.
That's he's in such a state he doesn't care, or notice that someone's filming it. Plus it's a complete stranger, in a very public hotel lobby (by the looks of it).

Unfortunately it will be the same outcome as George Best :(

The only person capable of helping him is himself

He may have sent it to a mate and it just spread from there.

Like Best, he'll be gone sooner than later.:(
Sadly that looks like the way it will go.

Saw Best in his prime, and met him 4 or 5 times

He was the first to admit it was his fault, but would joke about it and the good times he had.

In 1969 he said he had given up alcohol and women and declared it was the worst 20 minutes of his life.

He admitted that later in life he went missing a lot, Miss Canada, Miss UK and Miss World.

He was sent to prison for drink driving in 1984. His response. I suppose that’s the knighthood fu***d

He also said they will forget all the rubbish when I have gone and just remember the football

There are a lot more quotes from the Belfast Boy

Sad that 2 fantastically talented players end up like this
