Absolutely. If they don't get the recruitment right this summer, there needs to be a serious EdOut campaign.

This is entirely correct. I'd go further though and say if we don't do the right business and a lot of it, and we then lose any more than 1 out of the first 3 games, things will snowball very very quickly not just for Ed but for Ole too. I fear September could be horrendous at OT if things go the way they may well do

Why are you acting like the Jovic transfer to Madrid wasn’t a drawn out process?

It was on, off, on again. Just because we don’t follow Madrid’s transfers as closely as ours it may seem that it was smooth sailing, but in reality it wasn’t, regardless of if they’ve signed a player before us.
This deal has been in the news since January, I can only imagine the meltdown on the caf if it was United.

Anyone decent close to signing for us yet? We're in the worst predicament in decades and in real need of genuine quality but the only serious links are with a Championship winger. Next season's gonna be fun at this rate...

Jovic for 60 million euro is a steal if that figure is true. I hope the german club have included a lot of performance add ons.

Yep, exactly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Woodward, the Glazers and our general recruitment approach, but some people on here find any excuse to have a go at our club and Woodward in general.

It just becomes very tiring. Have a go at them when there is a genuine reason to.

Raiola doing Raiola things.
Yup - it's actually a really smart move IMO.

Clever choice of words too from Honigstein as it certainly doesn't rule us out.

Every club who is in for De Ligt will be wondering if they are 1 of the 2, when the reality is that De Ligt is probably happy to join a handful of clubs.

It encourages clubs who are already in discussions with them to improve their offer to seal the deal.

Oh I agree, I would be happy to see Woodward go for the simple reason that he failed to build the appropriate structure around him, for me that's the only thing that you can objectively put on him and that's big enough to not go around and fake outrage about everything.

Can't believe we weren't in for Jović. :(
Maybe "we are monitoring things" or "preparing a bid".
But it is "only June", calm down. When well organised clubs sign their players, then we will enter in transfer market.

Real Madrid have one off season after winning 4 champions leagues in 5 seasons and immediately make multiple world class signings.
What multiple world class signings?
Jovic is now world class?
Mendy?
Another world class player?
What is wrong with this place?
I bet if they came to United half of the Caf will call them crap, not good enough, too young, too old, not PL proven, blah
But they went to Real, so now they are world class players?
Right.., grass, fence, other, greeneer, side..

No Chinese clubs in European competition so that title doesn't make sense but it puts Arsenal in a problematic position of potentially having to overpay. They should look to offload Ozil and split his wages with Lacazette and Aubamayeng. Making the best of a bad predicament.

It's hard not to he impressed with how quickly they respond to one poor season and just get down to business. Woody could still pull it out the hat, its still early days.

They are ran for the team to be the most successful it can be. Making money is a distant second to them.

We are the other way around.
And yet they make shit loads and are more valuable than us according to latest figures.

I just dont get our club to be fair. We are so far from a well run football team. Well run business, yes, for sponsors etc so they can lace the Glazer's pockets whilst our debt goes down slower than a 90 year old hooker.

Woody cant even pull his own pecker out of the hat. He will spend the summer pursuing Bale

They’re at the top of the pile for players drooling over going there , not many clubs can compete with them for name alone possibly Barca a close second.

I gather the fee involved with De Ligt is set in stone ?
Its the one element in the deal no one seems to be talking about.
Which probably rules us out in that case.

I think personally Barca have a gentleman’s agreement done over the fee for months , it’s obvious 4-5 clubs would be interested in him so why isn’t there a bidding war going on ?

There is an agreement between Barca and Ajax for months. De Ligt has been trying to push his salary up due to the influence of his agent. He has been using us to get Barca to up their wages. I fully expect Barca to increase the terms and complete the signing after the internationals

Madrid not playing around. Jovic, Militao already and potentially Hazard and F.Mendy to come. Honestly weird to see a club have the ambition to try bounce back quickly after a poor year.

Don't they know they have to be shit for multiple seasons before trying to rebuild?

In all honesty, this is what happens when people are given a platform to openly discuss things that they don't actually understand.

We critique players because we're privvy to a certain amount of their performance. We can see how they perform on the pitch and possibly get an indication of how they manage themselves in public. So we can make certain judgements but still don't have the full story. How are they around the club, in training, with their team mates? What about in the dressing room? What are they like at half time or before the game? We don't have this insight and so our opinions are based on a fairly small scope.

Now with things and people behind the scenes, we're even more in the dark. We don't know what is discussed or happens with 98% of what goes on and the other 2% is generally second hand information from journalists and so isn't even reliable. I don't know anyone who has worked at a high level in a football club especially not one the size of our club. I don't have a deep understanding of how transfers work, what goes on in meetings or negotiations and the list goes on.

People are talking about things they just don't understand which to a degree is fine, we're fans and we're going to have a voice about what we perceive to be happening. It's the absolute confidence and arrogant tone though which is so common that I find really disappointing. I'd like people to at least have half an open mind and not be so personal.

I actually don't know what Woodward does or is like behind the scenes. He might well be just as annoyed, if not more so, than we are. We talk with far too much confidence about things we simply aren't privy to.

We have an astounding number of people who seem very sure they understand how it all works and I have to question why they don't work for a club in the Premier league of that is indeed the case.

The people who run Real Madrid are actually passionate about the team as well as making money. The Glazers don't really like football. We're just an investment to them.

We'll never match likes of Madrid and Barca under these parasites.

We have tried though. The window we signed Shaw Falcao, Di Maria Blind, Rojo and Herrera isn't all that far off from the types of names and reputations you've just listed. The exception being that Hazard is the one player who is more elite but them signing Militao from Porto isn't really much less of a chancer than us signing Rojo from Sporting.

You're using hindsight to ignore attempts we have made that haven't worked out and comparing that failing to an assumed future success of another team's present day activity. That's not a particularly fair comparison.

What if those signings don't really work out for them and go a similar way to the names I listed above? In 3 years time would you change your story to Madrid have chosen to spend a few years being poor before bothering to rebuild?
