I guess you are talking about CB, RB, CDM, CM and RW... So, do you trust Rashford to be our main striker?
He's 21 and has huge potential. It's not ideal to rely on that, but we just have much bigger problems. We aren't fixing 6 starting 11 positions, I don't think we'll even fix all 5. But with things like LW, ST or LB, we at least have potential that it can just itself out, especially if the rest of the team improves.
But anyway, my ideal timeline would be focus on those 5 positions this summer, then next summer fix what hasn't been fixed and then fix whatever gaps open up (De Gea leaving? Pogba leaving? Martial?). Then once that's sorted, work on Shaw and Rashford if they need upgrading (or if we give up on Rashford as striker, move him wide and bring in a striker). Rashford will realistically be a first team player for the foreseeable future so anyone who isn't a fan of his or doesn't believe in him better get used to him...

Assuming we sell Sanchez and we're in the market for a pair of wingers, I'd raid PSV and get both Bergwijn and Lozano. It would be very interesting to see those two inserted in our current 11.

We already signed James, maybe there's a chance we end up signing another winger.

I have a feeling we won't sign another RW. Solskjaer seems to rate our attacking players. I think he'll address defence and midfield this Summer.

Might be good for Mason though.

Im sure I have seen Ole himself say the quality in the front line is lacking

Totally agree. If we can’t get Sancho, we should definitely be in for one of bergwijn, ziyech, Lozano or bale on loan. All of those wouldn’t cost more than 40m, work hard for the team (except bale) and have quality on the ball. We can then try for Sancho next year and have them swap positions/rotate. Definitely can be done and would be logical, but we haven’t done things logically in many a year. A right winger is very important and Daniel James is more of a prospect.

Not sure if you have this but would love to see a link for this. I can't remember him saying it.
I don’t have it to hand, but will try and locate it tomorrow. He was speaking towards the end of the season was speaking about lack of chances and poor finishing and said both fitness and lack of quality were issues

Fair enough, I don't know if that means he wants to sign some attacking players or that he wants to train hard with the current lot though.

I feel a lot of his statements towards the back end have empathised the importance of pre-season.

Anyone checked out Oyarzabal of Real Sociedad as a right wing option, he stood out with his ability with the odd match that I have watched of him playing in the La Liga last season and looked good for Spain as a sub last night and netted a goal on his debut, he has all the typical good characteristics you expect from Spanish players, his stats are quite impressive over the past 2 seasons for a young winger, 16 goals scored last season, 12 goals the season before and 5 goals from 10 Spain u21 matches during that time.

Seems like the type of player destined to be signed for one of the top 3 teams in la liga.

Great player, not leaving any time soon. Signed a deal until 2024. He loves Real Sociedad, being his boyhood club, very happy there.

If we can get Sancho, we could go for someone like Lozano. Next year, we could go for Sancho. We would have James, Lozano and Sancho as wingers. Martial could be better as a striker.

If we don't sign another winger, then diamond formation would be the best for our current players.

Pereira did have a decent season in La Liga, wonder if we could swap him and 40M or so and interest them.

I like the look of Lozano - seems a grafter as well being good enough technically/having a decent goal scoring/assist record. Plus - if papers are to be believed - he's available for £40m which is pretty paltry in today's market

I don't think so. He's probably their best player and like I said, he doesn't want to leave his boyhood club right now.

I'd be very worried if we didn't go in for another winger.

We can expect both, Sanchez and Mata to go. Lukaku too. If we don't get a winger, then as I said before in this thread, we need a versatile attacker.

That said, James did say in his interview that he can play anywhere across the front line.

Either way, we should be going in for another attacking player, in my opinion.

Rashford
Greenwood
Martial
James
Lingard

at the bottom of Ole’s wheel
RW and LW, as all players we have now are shite/inconsistent/not an actual/don't want to play as wingers.

There I said it. Unless Ole will change the system to 4-3-1-2 or using False 9 ala Liverpool, we need new 2 wingers.

I'd love to see us play with Ribery - Robben style on the wings.
We’re halfway there, mate.

If we can't get Sancho, someone like Lozano would be a good signing. Next summer, if we sign Sancho, we would have James, Lozano and Sancho as our wingers.

IMO Chiesa and Pepe will sign for other teams and they will be more expensive.

Not sure Ole can find two good wingers this summer than fit with his Brexit means Brexit strategy.

Never been so impressed from youtube highlights as I have with this guy.
I watched highlights of the new Neymar yesterday Pedrinho and honestly after watching the video I was sold. Went to check his stats and they were very meh. Not great at all really but going off this video he looks like a player that eventually goals and assists will come to.

Also the nutmeg a 3minutes 32secs

Someone send Ed to Brazil

From the video seems that he plays more on the right side. Can beat a man = sign him.

We should be signing guys like him for the future. Loan him to Portugal until we can get him a work permit.

Seemingly Barca have been following him since last year and are poised to make a move for him soon.
@flappyjay he is 21 and is currently at the Toulouse tournament with Brazil. Could probably get special compensation for someone like that.

Whats wrong with Pepe? If we cant get the likes of Sancho he has to be the next best option - he is available, cheapish, scores goals, young.

Not a shortage of options out there.

Already got James.

Pepe, Neres and Lozano would all significantly improve our right side without breaking the bank.

I could be wrong but IMO Chiesa would be the next best option. I would even consider Dembele before Pepe. But I agree with you, we could have been the RW position sorted if we sign Pepe. But we extended Mata's contract instead.

I unfortunatley believe we are done with adding any other wingers to team and the club will crazily make do with Martial/James for the left and Lingard and Mata for the right stupidly once again for another season, with the only other added addition to the attack being some cheap back up for Rashford.

Agreed. James and renewing Mata was most likely the backup plan to signing Sancho.

I don't think we'll add any other wide players.

A striker to backup Rashford if Lukaku goes is probably quite likely, though.

Agree with some of the comments in here, in that I also think deciding to renew Mata's contract means no other winger. We'll have to settle with:

James
Lingard
Martial
Mata

Maybe Ole is holding out for a certain player and feels that he wont be signing anyone for the sake of it.

Oyarzabal is exactly the type of talent we should be going for!

Is Chong not a possible option for the right too?

United have lacked a RW for a while but it seems more likely that Solskjaer will use the likes of James, Lingered, Chong, and maybe Mata in this position and use the cash available to strengthen more pressing areas, with a centre back badly needed and the midfield needing to be changed up somewhat.
