I’m happy with that.
Not McTominays biggest fan (but should certainly be retained as a squad player) but Diop for £60m or a player in exchange, utter madness. He is the right age, and a good defender, but for that price there are a LOT of better options for us to target in my opinion, in fact I dont even think he is West Hams best centre back

Feck the performances. After saying he wants a new challenge, if Pogba was to accept 500K a week, then we know he'd be here for the money.
I don't think he joined us because of the money, we were in a worse position post-Van Gaal than we are now. Albeit Mourinho did bring some excitement. He could have easily stayed at Juventus.

I just don't buy this news at all tbh.

The fit is about the hit the shan when the Caf finds out how much Rashford will extort from this!
Yes, he is a player we should be looking to tie down, not that he is ever going to be world class like some make out.....but I highly doubt at anywhere near the wages he will probably be getting....my guess is £290-310k per week, pretty much double what we should be offering

Don’t think Pogba deserves a contract. But do you think any of the players actually care about the club? It’s all money to them. That will be the same for new signings also.

Everyone only care about the money. That goes for the academy darlings Rashford and Lingard too.

None of this squad deserves wage increases regardless. Madness from the club.

Because we're paying him shit loads of money.
So he’s not happy playing second fiddle to a lesser player. He’s not one to waste his prime years on the bench earning obscene wages a la Bale so he wants to go where he will play.

The club made it known to everyone he was not first choice and then had the balls to say they want 80M for him. He is trying to lower that number so he can get out of a place where he isn’t even wanted.

Why the hell would we double his wages for him still to leave. Take up the option and that's 3 years. Sell him next summer when we've righted the ship and can attract a good replacement.

There's a way to go about doing things. He stinks of disrespect and always has. He can hand in a transfer request formally to the club and go about it in a diligent manner. Leaking his feelings on an Adidas sponsored event whilst on holiday is an ultimate piss take. Don't try and dress him like he's some sort of shackled prisoner that's an ultimate football purist.

Matthijs de Ligt does not have a final agreement with PSG. Paris is Mino Raiola's preferred choice. Teams that weren't in the race for him before are now in the race to sign him

Of course not. We'd have to be insane to reward his performances with 500k.
It's really not that big a deal. Bale is earning 600k a week at Madrid. Then again, I don't have a problem with de Gea's wage demands either.

My only problem with wages has only ever been the awful players, who are not in demand, and still getting paid more than other much better players at smaller clubs. Young is an example of this. Lingard is an example of this. Not in demand, and anyone that would want him wouldn't have them on the wages we gave them. If we feel Henderson can make the step up, I'm all for selling de Gea. That's a big if though and a 1 year transition period is probably the safer bet.

Also, I would like to balance our wage sheet by having more youth players becoming squad players on minimal roles. For example, Darmian's role in the team is very minimal, but is getting paid like that of a regular starter. That's always been my preferred strategy.

Wages impact our ability in the transfer market. Dishing out 500K for anyone in the team would be lunacy, no one is worth that. And of course, we should try every possible angle to get rid of Sanchez. I'd have said before Pogba dragged the club through the mud that if he stays we should tie him down further, but not at 500K. Now though, it would just compound the misery and be daft beyond belief. He's not shown he's worth the money he's currently on.

... when?
In 16/17 we had Zlatan and Mkhitaryan completed within a week.

In 15/16 we had Darmian, Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin completed within 3 days.

In 14/15 we completed Shaw and Herrera within a couple days. Rojo and Di Maria were done within a week that same summer.

Looking through the history we mainly get signings done in a flurry later June/early July.

You have zero clue how longs those deals actually took though. We'd been hearing rumblings about Ibra coming for many many months for example. Herrera was drawn out over a year after we failed to bring him in on the final day!

I know. I'm simply saying that we're not just working on one deal at a time. Hence us being able to complete a few in quick succession.

I would very much doubt there is anything in this but Goldstein said on the Sports Bar tonight that he heard from a reliable source that Utd are interested in signing Aubameyang. Apparently this same source told him that we were signing a new number 9 a couple of days before the Martial deal broke in the French media

Don't shoot the messenger on this one but just thought it would be worth me sharing it with you

Aubameyang doesn't make any sense tbh. We need someone that can play with his back to goal IMO.
