Another good CM on the verge of signing for the rivals. What are we actually looking for in the players? Who are these mystical midfielders who United scout and approach?

Well, may be because your overly optimistic self cant see the writing on the wall and you still keep faith in Woodward and this clueless board that something better will happen in the coming month than him signing for Tottenham.

By the way, n dombele will be their moussa dembele replacement and not erikson replacement if he goes.
I'm under no illusion at all, I know we are fecked and I know nothing will change in the near future.

It's clear as day we need a competent midfielder following the losses of Herrera and Fellaini, Matic's best days behind him and with Fred and McTominay not yet ready to play regularly.

Next season is looking more and more ominous with every passing day.

Yes sir, he certainly only fit Spurs and definetly not United, we should pull out so you (Spurs fan) can keep haggling over the fee for the better player, while we go for less talented ones.

In your dream !

We should call your and Juventus bluff and blow both of you out of the water, by throwing a 85 or 90 m € offer, now.

If Ed do that, i believe you will not be able to follow, but sadly he will probably not do it and inevitably miss out the quality player we most need this window.

Again
Some United fan will never learn. That is why we have such a dysfunctional team right now. Because we just signed some of the best players without any planning. Do you really think that N’Dombele, whose main strength is his ball retention ability will suit Ole counter attacking gameplan? It will be like putting Messi at Burnley.

Credit to Ole though, he seems to know what he wants in the market, whether it is right or wrong we will have to wait until next season to see. Having a British core and players who work hard and want to be here is a better direction transfer wise than our galacticos misinformed signings we have done the last few years. It is a shame his managerial abilities isn’t that proficient.

We just want quality. I don’t care if they are British and love the club. You love the club when you are successful.

Ahhh yes the crappy window goes on.

A player that’s perfect for us, in a position we desperately need a quality player in and he’s off to another team. What The feck is the club doing ffs.

So long balls, to no where, losses in possession and counter attacking football. If that's the kind of defensive reactive counter attacking football is what we want to play, why sack mourinho then?

Ole is clearly wrong on this one.

Only seen him a few times, but liked the look of him. I also liked Rabiot. Seems we had no interest in either or they both turned us down. Whatever the case the fact that the only capable CM we have in Pogba wants out. Ole has one hell of a job on his hands as I can see us start the season with Matic McTominay Fred. That’s a mouth watering trio right there!

I think he's overrated and am relieved we aren't in for him. I look forward to watching him give the ball away for Spurs next season.

I certainly hope not - that would be the weakest midfield of the top 9 clubs in the Premier League.

I'd prefer Rabiot to Ndombele, only because I've watched Rabiot a decent amount of times and know he is a classy player and is versatile in different midfield roles.
I have never seen Ndombele play.

Watch the Portugal vs Netherlands game in that recent cup competition. Netherlands played total football, was dominant in possession and had great ball retainers. This is similar to Pochettino philosophy. Portugal on the other hand took up a counter attack approach and utilize the space in Netherlands defense effectively. I believe this is how Ole want us to play. It was not to negative and Portugal was able to come out victorious. Such approach seems to suit Ole moreso than a possession based philosophy.

That's fair enough - reasonable people can disagree about who is the better player. Neither of them are coming here, though.

We are getting neither of these players. To the longstaff thread!

All players know how difficult it is to negotiate with Levy so why they go to Spurs as they know it will be impossible to get better contracts in future or the possibility of joining other big clubs will be blocked once they go there. so why any player go there if he has other offers from big clubs?
Spurs have actually been quite proactive at giving players who perform a higher salary. I personally think it's a little hyperbole the whole 'hostage' argument at Spurs. All the players seem to be quite happy and they earn very well, and you don't hear people speak badly about the club or any player who is desperate to leave. Don't see how it would be different from signing for Manchester United either who also would do what they could to keep their best players from leaving.

If Spurs get Ndombele and Liverpool Fernandes the Glazers will have to be making some major moves to stop us slipping into obscurity.

Farce we didn't get this guy instead of Fred last summer, it's gonna be extra annoying seeing him become a great player for Tottenham.

I doubt they will be too concerned about what City, Liverpool or Spurs are doing. They'll be hoping we can do just enough to get our noses ahead of Arsenal & Chelsea.
