I am not sure about this but seems like there are growing reports we are trying to sign him. Whether he wants to come to us is a question. Would be a massive signing though. I'd love for this to happen. Our midfield is a joke and we need serious reinforcement. Signing Christian Eriksen would improve us massively.

Of course Spurs would sell him to Utd - Levy is not going to let him go on a free transfer if he has a decently offer and it’s clear a new contract won’t be signed. Spurs have always sold their better players if it’s a decent fee. Probably be last day of the window mind!

Even if Utd are in crisis - are Spurs actually going to win anything? They aren’t winning the league, and had a lot of good fortune (which you need) to get to the CL final. Players aren’t banging down the door to go to Spurs - it’s 18 months since they signed anyone.
I feel this is a little be false, we have only sold players who wanted to go and kicked up a bit of stink about it. Im pretty sure if Carrick, Modric, Berba, Bale had all of said were committed to the club and what to stay they most probably would have. Carrick was stupidly sold I agree but in fact we kept Modric and Bale for a further season after they initially wanted to go. We were offered more for Modric from Chelsea the season before he left, and rumour has it United bid more for Bale when we sold him to Madrid. Dont even start me on the Berba, we wanted to sell him to City before he was abducted.

Is there any chance we can sign Eriksen if we end up selling Pogba?

This won't happen. He is a free transfer next summer and he can go anywhere. Why make a backwards move.

Why?

Because we are rebuilding and we're twice the club Spurs are. We only finished second two seasons ago.

If Eriksen is leaving Spurs it's to start winning trophies, we're currently in no position to do so. Like @Adisa said, he'll have his pick of clubs including the top European ones. Doesn't matter how big we are compared to Spurs, they're currently a better team and have comfortably been achieving Champions League football for years now, we can't offer that luxury. None of our "rebuilds" have shown any indication that we're guaranteed to be competing again any time soon and for a player in his prime looking to win trophies we're just not that attractive a proposition right now.

Not even with him in our team?

Do people never consider that these players have confidence in their ability to help turn us into winners?

Why would Eriksen join us? Why would De Ligt join us?

Well, if they’re the only two players to come in this summer we’ll still have the makings of a fecking good team.

Additionally, maybe other big clubs don’t need him or don’t want him?

You're making it sound like they've both already agreed to join us. It doesn't matter whether I think they'd make us compete because they won't be joining us.

On our side its looking more and more likely Eriksen to Madrid is on, seemingly we are looking for Mariano Diaz and Dani Ceballos coming the other way. Nothing concrete just whispers on forums tying in news stories.

He is leaving for trophies and a large pay increase, RM offer both. He was just in a CL final at a club that is in the CL this year. So if he leaves Spurs it will only be to one of say 2 or 3 clubs, Barca, Juve, RM.

Arguable that atm PSG, Bayern or us are a big enough step up compared to what he has on offer at Spurs over the next two or three seasons.

Id say we would be offering Eriksen £160K - £180K a week on a new contract, I cant see Madrid offering him much more than that tbh. He wants Madrid for prestige and trophies at this stage of his career.

We should go full-pelt for him if we sell Pogba to Real.

He’s not going to Spain, Italy or Germany. You never know with PSG and if I was Liverpool I would push hard to get him, I’m not sure why we haven’t heard much on that front.

He seems to be going a bit under the radar as Real’s Pogba back-up but if they do get Pogba then Eriksen is kind of in limbo. Everyone knows he wants out. He could stay at Spurs of course but if he is open-minded to the idea of coming to us then we will never have a better chance.

The theory is he only wants Real, cant see him going back to EL football to be honest.

I can't think of any reason why he would want to come here.

That's short of the full truth: he only wants out if he can go to Real Madrid or a club of similar stature playing in the CL.

Given that he just came off playing in the final, i'd go a step further and assume that he'd want to go to a club that can realistically win the damn thing.

There aren't that many clubs in the world that are more likely to win it than Spurs, and even less that seem interested in Eriksen at the moment.

I think we'll see what happens with Pogba and Madrid first before his future is decided.

Pretty much this, if Pogba goes I wouldn't be surprised if Eriksen signs a new contract.

He wouldn't come. He is not that type of a player who would goto a rival in the same league ( even if it was City)

Just move on. Hope he goes to RM so that Pogba stays with us.

Yeah, he's a bloody good player, but he was also repeatedly mean about the Irish team and I think we can agree, that just isn't acceptable.

Oh, I definitely agree.

Not the bloody good player part because i don't rate him, but the being mean about the Irish part. Just unacceptable!

The Irish thing was unacceptable, agree. He is a class act imo, but another one that has ‘announced’ his mercenary status - don’t give a feck who I play for next as long as they pay me mega-bucks to enjoy my retirement.

Behave. Spurs not likely to win it any time soon.

Why should he 'behave'? We've just reached the final.

All he said was that there aren't that many clubs who are more likely to win it than us, which is true. You're talking probably a handful who you can say are comfortably better than us (the likes of city, liverpool, barca etc) and then a few who are on a similar level but who don't have a better shot.

We're not likely to win it any time soon, but nor are many clubs in the world aside from a select few. And out of those select few, it's only possible he can go to 1 or 2 of them.

I never said we are likely to win it. I said that there are only a handful of teams that are more likely to win it than Spurs, and I don't think that's a controversial statement at all. The PL is the richest league in the world, something that doesn't look to change in the immediate future, and right now we are the third best team in England.

Good player, but I'm sure that Tottenham would want a fortune for him. Never been totally convinced by him, but could do us some good if he ever signed, not too worried if he didn't though

Right now you’re immediately above Watford in the relegation zone.

Why not? Have you seen how many chances he’s created in his time at Spurs; he’s exclusively carried the entire creative burden for an overachieving team for years now. Factor in the kilometres he covers per game, the fact he’s never rested and the pressure of being Denmark’s talisman at the same time, and it’s understandable that he looked jaded at times last season.

Unlike the likes of De Bruyne and the Silva’s at City, teams can focus on nullifying him without fear of allowing someone else space, while Spurs lack of width condenses the spectrum of passing possibilities for him - if he played for City or Liverpool with their pace and variables in the final third, his already-impressive tally of assists would substantially increase.

I love Eriksen and think he’s one of the most underrated footballers of the decade - he’ll improve any team he plays for and would be the perfect Pogba upgrade for United.

Which of them? Whenever I watch Eriksen, he dictates play and gets involved. Also, more consistent.
I’m talking about Eriksen and when it matters he never turns up. He’ll do the same here to as the players around him are even worse.
