What a shocker of a post.

I'm not over the moon about the price for Maguire either, but people have been screaming for a centre back for years and now he signs one he's getting ripped for it?

Worse still you are bitching about Maguire being a slow carthorse. Well 3 of our 4 best centre backs in memory have all been relatively slow in comparison to others. Bit if, Bruce and Pallister weren't fast but they could defend. Feck, John Terry wasn't fast either. Quick reactions, strength, reading of the game, intercepting, heading and tackling all comes above speed for me when looking at a centre back.

Also, it's no way the worst transfer in history.

A poor man's Steve Bruce for 80 million . Football is dead and we killed it .

are we going to take the sun off the black list. They broke the story.
They might of broke the story about there being an "agreement" with Leicester City for Harry Maguire but the initial details of the deal were actually first reported on "The Transfer Window" podcast by Ian McGary as far as I'm aware. That specific episode became available on Thursday and Ian claimed that we had launched the now apparently accepted bid and got all the details that are now also being reported correct. I'm sure Duncan Castles also backed this information up, it is indeed a great Podcast for getting early information and incite into many deals.

I'm sorry but who the feck is this fella,.just seems a 10year old fan boy sat in his dirty bedroom ?
The guy is seriously reliable. Has some sort of contact within the club. Barely tweets but when he does it's worth taking a look.

So for that price there are no alternatives to Maguire, anywhere on the planet? Fecking hell

Doesn’t really work like that. All these are other players sound great on paper but we need someone to do the job right now. Look how long it’s taken Lindelof to settle.

The best CB in the World currently isn't really that fast either. He is just the best at reading the game so it makes him look faster.

None as good a fit and with the kind of experience as Maguire. He's been playing in the league for years at a decently high level and will go straight into the first 11. Thats definitely worth something. I think your agenda against the club hierarchy is colouring your judgement here. And I have no doubt you'd be railing against Ed saying he was penny pinching if he bought a cheaper alternative that didn't walk straight into the first 11.

My brain can't get pregnant!

Yeah I know, I put Vidic in my original post but my phone auto corrected it.

So what are you still doing here then? Why bother, if it's dead?

I don't disagree that football has gone stupid and has moved far away from the game I grew up loving. I also think something needs to be done before the bubble bursts. But to blame United for the death of football is just stupid. Yet another shocker of a post.

How about blaming the billionaires all playing fantasy football against each other? Or the blood sucking agents? Or spoiled modern fans who only care about the biggest names and winning rather than effort, loyalty and tradition? The pressure they put on their clubs? Or the owners like Mike Ashley who suck the money and life out of a club for greed.

There are a myriad of things to blame and United aren't blameless, but they are not the sole reason and signing Maguire for £80 million sure isn't the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

Overreaction much? Needed a decent defender, looks like we are buying one.

Price is high, but so is the likelihood of him settling in and hitting the ground running. I just don’t think too many chances can be taken on players who might take all season to fit in. It’s an important year and making top 4 will make subsequent years so much easier.

Let’s hope we have enough to make it come deadline day.

For whatever reason we appear to be ‘skint’ this summer.

I can’t help but question spending £80+mil on a player with [imo, limited] potential when we should be looking to invest in the ‘next’ Maguire type for cheaper [again, imo].

I can’t stand the scouse lot but it went; Firmino > Mane > Salah > VvD - People rave about the Klopp model yet we’re skipping 3 of 4 steps whilst selling our 2nd top goal scorer.

Transfer just feels i’ll timed & lazy to me - next summer when we’re quoted mad fees I hope people have the same energy about this transfer as they do about the Sánchez one.

If the maguire transfer is true we'll have outspend everyone in the league so far. How are we skint?

Exactly. It's always been that way. Maldini is the perfect example.
Both Maldini and VVD were gifted with fantastic recovery pace actually

Then again Maguire isn't slow either, just plodding

So we are into the preseason, reg season a month away and we've only made two signings. Still have two shite strikers, still need midfield help....I don't see our league position improving that much.

Did you just ruin that post by saying pallister wasn't quick?
Before your time maybe?
