I know it's Madrid, but it's also a guy that's their ex player who won them a CL while also being an ex manager that won two CL's with them recently. he won't be treated like Pellegrini or whoever. Argentina have only one NT stronger than them on their continent so they need to beat them in a single game of cup tournament, while Madrid need to outperform an already better team with world's best player during the whole season. that's why I'm not giving them much of a chance.
as for Barca, they probably eased up a bit without Madrid being a real threat and they most likely never really expected Atletico to keep up with them. now they're getting two great players eager to prove and will most likely be better than last year. Hazard and Jovic + some tweaks can get Madrid closer and put them above Atletico, sure, but it was 20 points between them and Barca that "only got 87 points". I expect both clubs to improve, but Madrid won't improve that fast neither I expect them to close that gap in Zidane's first season. I think it's not reasonable to ask that from him and that's why I think he won't get the sack if he fails at that.
well, I honestly believe that, mostly because of what I wrote in the first part of my post. If he's like 8 points behind Barca, with visible improvements but with Barca again being at comfortable distance for majority of season, yes, I still think he'll keep his job, with more pressure coming in his second season. but obviously we'll have to wait and see, I have no other argument than pure belief that their board will give him more time.
