If they genuinely want £90m, we’ve got to move on. I want him in our team desperately, think he’s made for us, but that is beyond madness. £70+10m or a straight £80m is the absolute maximum.

By this time next week, Leicester would want £130M. But who can blame them? Ed will probably pay it.

Sky saying “Leicester want £80m” then “United are willing to pay £80m” so what exactly is the problem ?

Shouting about overpaying and at the same time wanting him to hand a transfer request. You do know what happens when Maguire hands in his transfer request? He will legally lose the loyalty bonus and then we will have to compensate him or Leicester that.
I've shouted about overpaying?

Who gives a feck about some menial loyalty bonus if it's the difference between signing him or not? He'll no doubt get a substantial signing-on fee and significant wage increase, so no, I don't weep at the thought of some lost loyalty bonus that you're assuming works exactly like it does in Football Manager. We gave up on Eden Hazard over £6m in fees. I'd say Chelsea got more than their money's worth out of that investment. Just do what it takes to get the deal done. He's already missed our entire pre-season because of Ed's incompetence, I'd rather at least get him in training for a bit before the season starts.

Should have walked away from this deal ages ago, it’s been obvious the whole summer you only get him by paying a world record fee which is comical. Either have to be prepared to just suck that up or move in to other targets instead of whatever it is we are doing now.

Lecister are probably stuck in a loop going on about how they have a billionaire owner and can't be bullied.

 If true
If this is true then Maguire needs to step up and put in a transfer request. United can add whatever ‘loyalty bonus’ he would lose to his signing fee.

£95m is a joke figure (even as someone who thinks they’re within their rights to ask above-market valuations).

I wish Maguire stays and put in terrible performances this season. Enslaved.

Seems as if United submit the asking price then Leicester reply with, "nah mate, we're upping it now!"

They clearly don't want to sell. Which is fine. But, stop messing about with us and flat out tell us he is not for sale.

I am not sure it was ever less than 90m. I know that figure was being quoted months ago and then we allegedly went in with an offer at 70m which was rejected and after that the 80m figure began to be mentioned presumably because it split the difference. The thing is though, Leicester never once said they would take 80m and it looks like they will stand firm and not negotiate which is after all what they have said they would do from the start. If this does not happen because Ed refused to meet the asking price and then stubbornly sat there like Canute trying to turn the tides deluding himself that Leicester would fold just because he wanted them too then he has wasted the whole fecking window and done major damage to our chances of the top 4 next year. I have no problem with Ed refusing to pay the price but when it hasn't changed since June Ihave a mjor problem with the cnut not facing facts months ago and moving on to another target.

Don't believe the press. If it's true and I'm guessing it's not then Leicester are screwing Maguire over. I hope he makes them pay for it and goes on the cheap next season.
We don’t need the money. We’ve got a Billion ..... oh right, you already know .... okay.

Joking aside, I wonder if “deadlines” were put in place with prices. It’s almost like a compensation event, due to running the risk of the 14 seconds Silva disaster again.

July 19th - We’ll accept £70,000,000
July 26th - It goes up to £80,00,000
August 1st - It goes up to £90,000,00

Players have minimal fee release clauses, this wouldn’t be any different.

A lot of truth in this.

It does seem strange that he appears to be your one target. I’m surprised you didn’t go after Alderweireld, given that he’d improve you and free up monies to add to your midfield and forward options.

He was happy to stay last year. Then Rodgers arrives and he wants to leave. I suspect that happens a lot, Rodgers enters a room and people feel the need to leave.

Thank feck.

Nice to see Harry has had enough of this dicking around by Leicester and has set the record straight. He’s not playing in their pre-season game today either.

Leicester are starting to believe their own hype. If they ruin Maguire's chance of playing at a top side then other players will notice. No one likes a club that is meant to be used as a stepping stone to be unreasonable

£85m with an extra £10m in performance related bonuses is absurd and stingy.
Leicester should just surrender while they have the chance before it gets uglier than it already is.

Leicester are monsters for trying to force him to stay.hi
Calm down, It's just business and negotiation, by all accounts we've been crystal clear on our terms with Harry, his agent and interested suitors.

Fantastic point! Never actually thought of that, but all those who use, say Leicester, as a platform for PL exposure would surely have second thoughts about going there if they know that Leicester will potentially block their future pathway.

We need this guy. Leceister will finally sell but they will milk us dry. They would have sold Maguire for 70M be it another club; in our case they understand that Maguire is worth another 10-15 on top of that. A back line of Shaw Harry Victor and Wan guarantees CL for Man Utd.
