Can anyone please convince me this is a good move for us?

I don't quite know why, but I'm just not feelin' it.

Sorry for the poor quality. Never uploaded pictures here before. Did not go too well.

But in addition to being a hard worker and a player who could make our attack tick, he would add end product compared to todays options. He would be a great option at AMR but would work well in several positions.

Can he do the whole 'pressing like mad' thing that Lingard and Gomes can do?

If so, go on then, you've all twisted me arm.

Doubt Eriksen will push for this. He will have champions league football with Spurs and then in January he will probably have a choice of any club he fancies.

Bruno to Spurs
Eriksen to United

Levy using us to get Bruno for free basically, seeing he knows Eriksen will leave next year for nothing. everyone wins.

And I would gladly be more than with that.. I’m at the stage where even if we get ripped off, I’m okay with it instead of letting the glazers pocket the money.

If he's gone for free next year his only destination would be Juventus.

Thought we only going for players desperate to play for us? Eriksen didn't want to come at the start of the transfer window

Why you fans like to die with a 1000 cuts. Have you not learnt anything from Dybala saga.

No. No. No.

This is not PlayStation.

He is not a leader, and isn't what a club in the predicament of Man United, need right now.

Just start the season and we get on with it.

They like to operate in the same areas, Eriksen is NOT a CM.
I never suggested Eriksen was a CM. The suggestion was we would have a fluid front 4, with the 4 players able to switch somewhat. So whether that was Dybala starting off on the RW & 'Eriksen' the no 10, or visa versa and switch around during the games...something similar what we saw Marcus & Martial do against Milan on the left hand side, on the weekend.

Put his name on the table in March, and only now with two days left in the window are they accelerating the process.

Ok.

If we signed Eriksen I'd easily have us as favourites for 3rd given it'd be a huge improvement and a huge blow for Spurs, even if they sign Lo Celso or Fernandes.

The reason I think it would work more with Eriksen while I was against Bruno Fernandes is that he's a much more possession oriented player, more creative, more capable of balancing out our midfield to give us control of games next to Pogba in front of McTominay. Not to mention that he's more than used to play in a pressing system with Poch. Dont think itll happen though.

My thinking is very similar to yours. Out of curiosity, why do you believe the transfer wouldn't happen? Because of Eriksen, Levy or something else?

Why do you not believe this would have been the case?
I'm not saying that i disbelieve it. IF this is true, i'm just commenting on the absurdity of waiting two days before the window closes to conclude what would be a big transfer, from a club who's chairman is notoriously difficult to deal with. This is something that should've been done weeks ago.

As far as we know it may have done, but i can only go off what journalists are saying. It seems a bit late in the day to conclude this.

Bit of everything. 1 year left on his contract, eriksen has made no secret wanting to go to Barca/Madrid. I doubt he'd leave to United now, for 1 year in the Europa league, when he can stay in the CL this season with Spurs then sign on a free with one of the top European clubs. From Levy's side, they would ask loads of money from United because we are competitors, and it's this close to the end of the window. From our side, not sure how much he'd want to join and would we pay that much for a player who has 1 year left on his contract?

Exactly. Plus he could easily get more money next summer as well.

Eriksen would be a great signing for us and probably far more along the lines of what we actually need than Dybala. We've really left it late though, especially considering our typical pace of transfer.

I doubt Levy would sell to us for 100 million. Having us out of the top 4 and them in it each year means more than a 100 million sale.

All hypothetical Eriksen would want to come here of course.

I'll be happily surprised but I'm more worried about Matic.

Eriksen doesn’t solve our midfield problems, he solves the “Mata starts” problem and also can take set pieces. It will be an improvement, but we desperately need a DM or box to box midfielder (more than we need Eriksen if we only can have one)

If we take Eriksen, then it will be
—-Eriksen—-
Pogba-McTominay midfield with Lingard probably on the right

Ah yes attempting to sign Spurs’ arguable best player, who has no reason to want to play for us or force a move, with a few days left in the transfer window, seems logical and a smart move

:houllier:

Dont get me wrong Eriksen is a baller but honestly what the feck are we thinking

Until he holds a press conference with Sarri or the Juve CEO sitting next to him and saying "I stay" ... this could still be a negotiation ploy

Since you don't have CL football and are a bit of a wild card with Ole in charge, I don't see him going to Manchester. However, I'm baffled that some of you seem to not really want him. He's brilliant and would be a great addition to any team. I'd have him in a heartbeat, but unfortunately it seems FSG and Klopp (and likely Eriksen) don't share my sentiment.

Talks have been going on with Spurs for weeks,
I have been told that Spurs are willing to let Eriksen go and United are the only team they have been in conversation with.
Not sure the money being discussed yet, but it's more than the £50m figure floating around, more like £60m plus.
Has there been any credible reports on this yet?
Yes, see above.
