Arsenal looking to have a very good attack. Their defense is still crap though, I wouldn't be surprised if they ship as many goals as they score. It also raises the question of what is going to happen next year when their loanees return to their old clubs. If there's no option to purchase at the end of the loan, Arsenal's midfield is going to be gutted next summer when Ceballos and Coutinho leave. The loan model is intriguing, but poses its own risks.

Reeks of the press drumming up a story to keep people hooked for a few more days.

If we genuinely are trying to sign him, it's too late.
I dunno. It’s unusual for such wide and varying sources to all go with the same line. Could be Levy is shitting himself at the possibility of losing Eriksen for free next season, or being lowballed by a foreign club after our window closes, with no opportunity to replace him. Think it’s very much a case of having to sell before they buy.

Maybe enough to get 4th and some cash, then attract better players or even opt to buy loanees.
I would say they have a much better chance than us if we sign no one else.

Does Coutinho even improve Arsenal?
Coutinho, Pepe, Aubameyang/Lacazette, Ceballos/Ozil is a very decent front 4.

Can all play different roles and positions. If he finds his Liverpool form he could be scary.

Coutinho at arsenal would be very annoying, when we don't do jack this window

Better to have Ceballos and Coutinho now, for the season, than risk not having them at all. At least these two could get them into the Champions League. Then they can get a higher quality of player. It's exactly what United should be doing. Coutinho i'd prefer to Eriksen.

You’ve been a member since 2011. Unless you lived under a rock you could not have missed the Sneijder or Gaitan sagas. Or maybe the De Rossi years. Think we were linked with De Rossi for at least 6-8 years
I don't recall it being so driven as the Bruno links. Even DiMarzio putting his hat in the ring. It's all too forced. If we filtered out every tweet about Bruno in this thread it would be half as many pages.

Imagine letting Arsenal have a better window than us.
Have they signed a defender for the coming season? Their most pressing area to address is their defence and they haven’t done that. I’d be pretty pissed off if I was an arsenal fan.

I don't understand why we wouldn't loan him for a year.

Barcelona still owe us most of the money for that transfer.

Maybe. However they will be hellish exciting to watch and might just have the attitude that they will outscore other teams.

Hmm he's been pretty crap for 18 months now. I suppose he's a decent Ramsey replacement but I don't see how they would get that much better with him.
Barcelona hasn't worked tor him but I would say he has been far from crap. There is still a very good player in there and if he could replicate his Liverpool form then I think Arsenal (if true) fans would be laughing.

Yes, I would say so, although I'm not his biggest fan.

Ceballos is also a very good signing, and adding Coutinho to compliment Pepe, Ozil, Lacazette and Aubameyang, means they'll have a very potent attack.

If they manage to get a defender in like Upamecano on top of this then they will have had a very good window.

Possibly, but if the argument is that top players want to play with other top players, and players like Ceballos and Coutinho leave for their parent clubs next year, then Arsenal may have CL football to offer but will still be down 2 top players that helped them get there. The loan system is an intriguing path back to relevance, but it is not sustainable (see Watford from a few years ago). Not that we'll get him this window, but I'd rather have Eriksen guaranteed for 3-4 years than one year of Coutinho. That's the kind of stability that you can build around and use to attract top talent.

Oh they'll be exciting to watch, but they won't do any better than last season.

If they get CL then it is easier to attract those players. If we do not get anyone else we might not be able to give a player that next season. We need CL football or it will get harder to make signings that the manager wants.

Exactly. Simply get Champions League football, however you can. Arsenal are doing it with two loan guys who aren't THAT much of an investment for them. And I think Pepe is an excellent signing. This will make them a viable option for all top level players next summer. Shows what you can do when you have forward planning and a specialist in charge of transfers. Without further additions, United aren't finishing in the top 5 this year.

Who is this guy? Bilel Ghazi is usually quite reliable from what I remember, isn't he?
They both are pretty reliable, so who knows. Laurens is slightly more attuned to the market, but Ghazi is not a bullshitter by any means.

I'm happy the window is closing Thursday. I don't think I can take 3 more weeks of this shit.
