Pepe changed the game. Apart from Ceballos he was our only player who could beat his man and drive at Burnley. Was exactly what was missing from our first half and created so much space.
Late sub who could run at players .. but I saw little in terms of actual quality. We know he has pace and can beat a man but he was a 72 million signing.

Wouldn't say he's looking like a good signing at that price based on what we've seen, which is obviously very little.

Disgraceful on our part. We truly have had an awful six years.

If United signed Sokratis, people would go mental, and rightly so. So slow, so poor positionally, and next to Luiz I cannot imagine that they won't concede a ton of goals once things get going. I could be wrong.
What? Sokratis is rapid. Clearly you’ve never watched him properly.

Sokratis is a really good cb, easily Arsenal's best. I dread to think where that defence would be without him.

Since Klopp’s arrival your results at anfield have been:

2-2
3-1 defeat
4-0 defeat
5-1 defeat

We also haven’t lost a home game in the league since March 2017.

I’d say we’re big favourites.
Sure, no doubt, but I believe.

If Ceballos has a properly brilliant season though it's a double edged sword because I imagine Real Madrid will go 'thanks for developing him Arsenal, we'll take it from here'. Obviously an important signing for this season, but there's a reason I think other clubs backed out from the deal, loan without option to buy is dodgy.

I liked what I saw of Ndombele in the opening game. Not perfect and looked like he needed to adjust, but he was constantly looking to get forward with the ball rather than being a sideways merchant, which is impressive for me because it's easy to be cautious on a debut.
If he has a brilliant season how have we developed him, he's already come here developed. He's producing from the bloody second match of the season. Even if he goes back at the end of the season, it just means that we've cadged a good player for one year. Its a win-win. We'll get someone else next year once we're in the CL, we're managing to attract Pepe level players even without the CL.

You'll have given a young cm a year of game time. Being good for you doesn't necessarily mean he was good enough for a Madrid team with Kroos/modric/Casemiro etc. Also he produced against Burnley, calm down.

Once you're in it? Even if Ceballos has a good season that's no guarantee. Nobody else was seriously interested in Pepe at that price either.

I didn't see what all the fuss was about with Ceballos today. As I said early, he makes a five yard pass look very flamboyant. For all the flicks and tricks, very little came to anything. In my opinion he'll go back to Madrid next May with little tears shed, and Perez still desperately trying to find a buyer.
He got 2 assists

To get max points is important, especially considering our dismal starts to the season in recent years. We had some good moments but overall still look a bit disjointed. Considering Ceballos, Guendouzi and Willock have an average age of 20, I thought we did well to try to control the midfield. Luiz looked OK, don't think we're much better defensively with him but he does add to our attack somewhat. Pepe had some nice touches but was trying too hard at times. Auba our MVP as always.

23 is hardly very young, thats the age Modric moved to Spurs. We got him after he had a great tournament with Spain, and he's producing pretty much from the get go. If he was rusty and took half a season to bed in then you could say that we're doing Real Madrid a favour by giving him time. From what I've seen of him in the pre-season and the couple of matches he's played, it looks like Real have done us a favour by loaning him to us. Doesn't matter if it was Burnley, they're a good team and we would'nt have got the points without ceballos.

Rapid??? Who are we comparing him to? He turns like he's playing in water.

Perhaps when he gets into his stride with the wind behind him he can run in a straight line without falling over whilst maintaining a steady speed. He's a poor defender for a top team. Luckily you've signed yet another plonker to play next to him so he seems like "the good one." He's not young either, so it'll be a steady decline for him as well.

How many "stop gaps" do you have in defence? It's like your collecting awful ones like we spent years doing. Also, why are there so many Arsenal fans here? I'm new, so I ask that genuinely. Are there no decent Arsenal forums, or is it when our rivals win they like to come here and give it big guns?

We’ve started well enough. Southampton playing with a back five when they don’t have the ball.

23 is still pretty young for a midfielder, especially one at Madrid. Modric needed a little while to get going at Spurs as well.

He's had one good game thus far against some of the weakest opposition around, let's gain a sense of perspective. That doesn't mean he's good enough for Madrid.

Other teams were wary of the deal (including us) because we'd prefer to sign a play permanently rather than risk a player coming in and becoming a key part of the side, then departing immediately. That's the risk Arsenal have taken with this transfer.

RedCafe is a good forum for opposition fans and United fans alike. Arsenal mania is a bit shit so that's personally why I signed up here

Adrian is making Liverpool defense look very shaky. shows just how important Alisson was for them last season.

Should defo been 1-0, Yoshida hit it straight at him 4 yards out. Best defender off all time weak as feck there.

Ends justify the means, imo. I'll be complaining only if he has a brilliant season and returns to Madrid, and we're still not in the CL.

Unpopular opinion, but I think Liverpool will struggle this season. I don't see them dropping out of the top four, but they won't get close to the title. I hate to say it, but Spurs look a much better side.
