Dirty bastard who was in the refs ear all night.
Knows how to hit them though.
Knows how to hit them though.
Yeah, such a small detail.Well our lot bossed him for every bit of the game except the goal, the only thing he did apart from getting booked.
Not really he's been described as a party trick ffsStraw man. Nobody is writing him off after the first game. Everyone is just saying he wasn't that good... which he wasn't.
ExactlyBeen wank all game but I wonder how many people are gonna want him off the back of that goal.
They bossed shit. We were better in the first half mainly to the aggressiveness of our front pressing and winning the ball back fast. While creating feck all apart from the goal, which was a misplaced pass to Shaw. In the second half McTominay was lost, Lingard was absolute shit for the whole game and Pogba boiled over while missing a penalty. I’d take Neves contribution to the game over any of our midfielders,in a heartbeat.Well our lot bossed him for every bit of the game except the goal, the only thing he did apart from getting booked.
He expalined it exactly how it was.Yeah, such a small detail.
I'm not saying he's a exceptional player, because I know he isn't. He could barely get minutes at Porto and was basically a third option. He expalined it exactly how it was.
That's accurate. I'd take Dendoncker or Moutinho over him, even though Neves will win them more games.Portuguese Darron Gibson/Charlie Adam.
Moutinho was one of the best portuguese B2B midfielders of his generation, so not really a far comparison. But yeah, Neves was scarcely used by Porto's managers mainly because he wasn't aggressive enough, had issues with positioning (which he still has now) and was prone to loose his composure when under high pressure.Apart from long range shooting, he isn't anything special. Moutinho is a better player but much older
The midfield gave him acres of space and time. He had all the time to control the ball, make a small flick and shoot.feck off, Neves. Still mad about yesterday.
Should've been office. Raul was blocking De Gea's viewpoint whilst standing offside. The midfield gave him acres of space and time. He had all the time to control the ball, make a small flick and shoot.
Jimenez wasn't standing in front of De Gea, he was about 2 yards to his left. De Gea could still see the ball as Neves shot, so it's not offside.Should've been office. Raul was blocking De Gea's viewpoint whilst standing offside.
Neves had a poor game last night, but this is just a ridiculous comparison. Charlie Adam was fat and shit. Darron Gibson had good technique but was very average on the whole (he played for Wolves so I've seen this first hand).Portuguese Darron Gibson/Charlie Adam.
Charlie Adam wasn't shit, he was a fat granted but he got once got 20 goals and assists in a season playing for Blackpool in the PL. Is he Portugal's regular 6 as well, wasn't he dropped in the Nations League final whilst Carvalho played?Jimenez wasn't standing in front of De Gea, he was about 2 yards to his left. Neves is a fixture in our side for a reason, he's Portugal's regular 'number 6' for a reason. He would improve your team, as would our other midfielders.

He was, I believe he was carrying a slight knock. Is he Portugal's regular 6 as well, wasn't he dropped in the Nations League final whilst Carvalho played?
I don't know about that, Rashford seems to get license to do it. Including shooting from wide free kicks from 40 yards, that just trickle out of play.He can hit them but when afforded the luxury of hitting many, many shots high and wide from range it's not surprising he hits the odd screamer every now and again. It's a luxury he wouldn't be given at a top side.
It doesn't matter how close the goalkeeper is to saving it though, does it?
Blocked his view so much that De Gea still got this close to saving it.
I believe the Chalie Adam comparisons do have merit, although they're not exactly the same kind of player, both deliver substandard passing stats through a love of hitting countless long balls with poor accuracy, both have poor mobility and both mask their deficiencies with Hollywood moments. He was, I believe he was carrying a slight knock.
He started 6 of their 8 games last season, playing an average of 85 mins in those games. Seems pretty regular to me.

Not having that I'm afraid. Based on last night, yes his passing radar was off. But he was the only outfield player amongst the top 20 players for 'accurate long-passes' in our Champ winning season and he averages over 50% more 'Accurate Long-Balls' per game in the Premier League than Charlie Adam ever did.I believe the Chalie Adam comparisons do have merit, although they're not exactly the same kind of player, both deliver substandard passing stats through a love of hitting countless long balls with poor accuracy, both have poor mobility and both mask their deficiencies with Hollywood moments.
If a striker had that sort of record, I'd be worried. But as a deep central midfield player, I'm happy to let him carry on having a pop and be as wasteful a c*nt as he wants to be, if he puts a few of them in the top bin from time to time!Touché
Although I feel like Rashford get's a lot stick for it to be honest. Can't imagine Ruben get's any stick from you lot..
Checked the stats and Neves had 22% shot accuracy from 74 shots compared to Rashford who had 48% from 84 last season. I know it's always gonna favor Rashy with him being a striker but yeah, Neves is a wasteful c*nt.
Not really bothered about his stats in The Championship here. Not having that I'm afraid. Based on last night, yes his passing radar was off. But he was the only outfield player amongst the top 20 players for 'accurate long-passes' in our Champ winning season and he averages over 50% more 'Accurate Long-Balls' per game in the Premier League than Charlie Adam ever did.
The only comparison I'll agree with is the 'Hollywood Moments', but I'm not sure they do this to mask their deficiencies, but because they are capable of them!!
His long-passing and the way he can switch the play is crucial to our system. No surprise that when he had an off night last night, we weren't very functional as a unit. A lot of that came from how well you pressed us.
Yeah that's fair enough, I just think he wouldn't get that at a top side.If a striker had that sort of record, I'd be worried. But as a deep central midfield player, I'm happy to let him carry on having a pop and be as wasteful a c*nt as he wants to be, if he puts a few of them in the top bin from time to time!
So compare Adams' best passing season with Neves' overall record. Good work. Not really bothered about his stats in The Championship here.
As far as I can see, in Charlie Adam's best season he made about 13 long passes a game with about 56% accuracy whereas Neves made about 10 long passes per game last season with 59% accuracy.
Pretty much the same.
They both have poor mobility too.
That's because it's per game and he played many games as a sub. So obviously per game average will be shit.So compare Adams' best passing season with Neves' overall record. Good work.
Also, on the mobility front, what exactly do you mean? His km per game last season was 10.70km, higher than all your central midfield players apart from Matic (11.16km). Comparable to Kante (10.94km) and Jorginho (10.98km), who are lauded as two of the most hard working and mobile midfielders in the league.
They only started measuring running stats towards the end of Adams' career, which will obviously impact them, but his 2 seasons on record are 7.48km per game and 4.60km per game! Even assuming he fell off by 25% in the later stages of his career, he still wouldn't get near Neves at his most mobile!
The comparison on mobility just doesn't stack up I'm afraid.
Oh, OK, I just assumed it was because he was fat and lazy. That's because it's per game and he played many games as a sub. So obviously per game average will be shit.
Also Fred covers around 11.5 Kms per 90 mins.
