Ole could be in trouble, but not sure how it will improve for any manager. We might stabilise, but we with this squad it will still be a struggle. If a new manager comes in and does well, then it would just be like us to not spend in January and the bare minimum in the summer. Gone are the days where we buy when we are in a position of strength.
It wouldn’t improve much in the short term whoever came in, squad will have to limp through until January window either way. Then you still have same people trying to get deals done if they even want to so it’s basically a season written off.

We’re still struggling to create a plan let alone implement one and make it successful so there are years of this to come.

I agree and have said he should play more in the league this season. But it's the fact that he's barely played that makes me think he should be on the bench again here. Let the experienced players try to navigate this one and leave Greenwood to enjoy the game on Thursday with his mates. I'd absolutely hate it if he plays against Leicester, we lose and then he sits out the Europa game. If he can play both then fair enough, but the game on Thursday is a better one to get him up and running in all probability. Obviously he could win us the game against Leicester, which is even better, but he is more likely to struggle in this mish-mash of a team.
Well, it is an interesting period this. We have a difficult game Vs Leicester then away on Thursday followed by away trip to West Ham.

I am fearing the worst here.

Not really.

You had many posters saying we have a thin squad that is bound to get found out, although to be fair most would expected to at least reach October.

It's bad preparation that's what it is. Blame whoever you want on that - CEO, manager, tea lady, but not luck. It isn't about luck.

The problem is losing Pogba or one of Rashford/Martial on its own is an injury crisis itself, let alone having multiple players injured.
Whats the difference to Spurs having Kane injured or Liverpool Salah? No one has equally as good back ups.

If Liverpool also had both full backs and their best centre mid injured they would struggle too.

All Solskjaer's fault though eh?

If we could not get deals done in the summer, cannot see how we will do them in an even shorter time. Also we might get signings who are stopgaps or completely untried. The latter can work, e.g. Vidic and Evra, but it could just make the squad even more mediocre. They really needed to do their job properly in the summer.

It is and the only way it will change is this regime going. They will not go until they have milked every last penny they can. The only way is for the club to be relegated and for them to lose the TV money etc. That could be terrible. I really worry about which road we are on.
I am holding out hope the Glazers get bought out and they take their puppet Ed with them.

The dark clouds are getting closer. Only good results will save his future.

It’s a reasonable possibility that we draw, maybe drop all three points against Leicester. At the moment Arsenal is better then us so we can easily face a new period where we lose more points then we win.

How long will our manager survive with results like this?

We get a chance to see the team without Pogba. Let's see if we'll look relegation fodder as everyone has predicted.

Doom merchants have overtaken these forums but they wont get to me. I believe in what Ole is doing and I also believe it wont be completed this season. I know seeing your rivals in a continuous upward spiral exacerbates everyone's fears but people just need to leave that alone and focus on what we are trying to do.

We're not there yet but we will get there.

Can only really blame woodward and solskjaer for the calamity of a squad we have. No matter what fans say as the report published by credible sources the identity of players for transfers is solely given the go ahead by Phelan and Solskjaer, why when Ndombele, Le Celso, Rabiot, Cellabos and Tielemans were available did Ole only prioritise Longstaff when we have needed a replacement for Fellaini as well as Ander Herrera.

Who in their right mind replaces an established striker in Lukaku by putting faith in Rashford who hasn't amassed more than ten goals in three league campaigns ? Ole is coming across as being too small in personality and stature to handle this job adequately. One week before Sanchez departure he reinstates Alexis is quality indicating he has a future, the moment he leaves he comes out with a statement contradicting his original statement. Why has none of Gomes, Chong, Garner or Greenwood started a fixture despite Ole's rumblings regarding the implementation of youth pre season, when many outfield players have displayed poor form in the opening games.

This might sound like a load of rubbish but every point above correlates heavily to the perception that the squad is fringe. The reality is the squad isn't as bad as many believe but because of the teams capabilities under Solskjaer it seems far worse. The narrative always changes with fans, under Mourinho many indicated the team is quality but the manager isn't good enough. Ole has come in now all of a sudden he's a good manager and the team doesn't have the quality to evoke his managerial class  do we have any less of a squad than Wolves, Palace and Southampton ? Are those not 9 points dropped or are fans deluded to back a limited manager to the extent standards have to be lowered to prove the "time" argument.

If Ole fails to pick up results in the next three fixtures he's in trouble. 3 wins in 15 and counting.

Exactly, desperation and panic could be the only motivation to get anything done which never end well.

Only consolation is this could be such a disaster it will act as a catalyst for change to actually try and run a football club. Every year the club cling to idea a few changes will make all the difference this could be when they finally realise fundamental change is needed. Clutching at straws but has to change at some point.

Spurs spent quite some time without Kane last year. Liverpool spent some time with players injured, they had adequate replacements. We don't even have the Llorente type(were interested in the end - tells you everything).

It's Ole's, the other football staff and the board - all should share the blame.

Experience over youth?
Solskjaer has a few experienced players who he can turn to.

Not much choice for United, but sounds like Solskjaer will opt for experience over youth in the starting line up.

Ironically think facing an attacking side like Leicester might favour them on the break, and I really wouldn't be surprised if #mufc avoid defeat tomorrow

Avoid defeat? At home to Leicester? Jesus, we've fallen some distance in 6 years.

Spurs play Son, the same way we will play Rashford for Martial. If Salah is injured it will be Origi that comes in. The rest of their teams are far better than us which means that they can get away with it but they aren't stacked with quality like for like back ups. City maybe but that's another level to us.

Son did a good job for them, Rashford can be good, but can also be infuriating.

It will be disappointing from Ole if he does the exact same thing the previous managers did and just throw the old failure in under the guise of 'experience' even though the experience they offer is failure and disappointment.

A few of those players you mentioned seem to have turned us down in preference to other clubs. Glazers are the main limitation on transfer funds. Ole cannot set the price for Lukaku. So we ended up selling him late in summer as the transfer window closed. Without selling someone we were never going to spend more than £150m all at once.

I think this is the best year for transfers since 2005/06 season.

It's actually mad how shit we suddenly look when just three first team players are injured (Pogba, Martial + AWB). If City had De Bruyne, Aguero and Walker injured they'd still have the Silvas, Jesus and Cancelo to rely on. Extreme example but that's the standard we should be aiming for.

Ah wait forgot about Shaw. 4 first team players out is a bit extreme actually.
The real shame is Jesse Lingard is also a first team player, so that's 5 missing, not that we'd notice if JLingz was playing or not.

I would have doubted Ole sold those players not expecting them to be replaced. The only way is if he really was hoping to use the kids, he probably thought things would have gone better and but for a couple of penalty misses and a bad goalkeeping mistake, they would have. That has changed his attitude. He thought we would have been in a good position and might have slotted a couple of kids in here and there, now he likely feels he cannot put them under that sort of pressure. It will be Carabao Cup and EL for them. If we fail tomorrow it will be his senior players who are letting him down.
If things are to go pear shaped tomorrow, the last thing i will do is give him grief for not playing the youth. This toxic environment is definitely not the place for them. Which makes the youth plan so asinine to begin with.

Ole is either incredibly naive or incompetent, probably a mixture of both if i'm being honest.

We all saw how far off the pace we were last season. Like, what were they actually expecting to happen this season? It makes me question if we're even a football club anymore going by this evidence.

Weight control is behind their injuries? Some serious shoe-horning there, bud.
I am not referencing weight control. There is something wrong with our sports science/physio's. It's not normal year after year to have so many muscle injuries like this.

Problem with Ole is he has only known good times with United, not sure he knows how to deal with bad times. This will be one hell of a shock to him, he knew we needed work, but he is now on the inside and cannot be impressed with how we do our business. We have not strengthened anywhere near enough. I know you cannot do it all at once, but it could get even harder to recruit quality if we slip further into the abyss. I think Ole is blissfully naive.

He sure found, but he sure did not get, Dybala, Eriksen, etc..
It's just strange that Dybala and Eriksen keep popping up as players we didn't get.

They were just opportunistic potential buys due to the Lukaku situation and Eriksen not agreeing to Levy's contract.

Who were our main, initial targets before the window began? What about the 2nd choices and please don't get me started on fecking Longstaff! This club is in total disarray! Only God can save us.

Exactly, only hope we have is that Ole delivers a few good results.

Alot of doom and gloom around at the club.

Very frustrating that you start a new season and 4 games in and we have to almost write off this season

WTF, he wouldnt be surprised we avoid a defeat, FFS, WE ARE MANCHESTER FECKING UNITED, Leicester is not Real Madrid.
This gets thrown around here a lot? What does this actually entail? Teams should be scared cos of the name or what? We are certainly not a top team anymore so dunno wat all the fuss is about us being 'Manchester fecking United'. The fear factor had dissappeared with Fergie's retirement. Opposition fans, coaches and players recognise that.

I think that sums up everything apart from Woodward being incompetent. He's not. His orders come from above. He is an extension of the owners.

I think teams playing at Manutd now think, come on lets have them, this is not the Manchester United of old.

Fans need to accept it, we are not competing in the big league anymore. We are competing with mid table and second division of Europe now.

My bad, maybe Ed does care about the fans but an extension to Owners or not, a strong personality would stand up against them?

If you are a Manutd fan and cares for the fans more than numbers, you would stand up against them, what can they do? fire him, then he probably would come out ans say.. I couldn't work with the owners as we have different visions.

This way at least some of our fans will actually realise it is NOT the manager that keeps needing to be replaced every other year.

What's with all doom and gloom. Worst case scenario we'll lose and nobody would be surprised.

That's just the way it is.
Things will never be the same.
Thats just the way it is.

Ooh yeah.
