Liverpool record at OT is nearly as bad as Arsenal isn't it? Can only remember them winning in recent times in that game Gerrard scored a few penalties (think it was under Moyes).

They'll be happy with a 0-1 you'd suspect, they're beating relegation strugglers by narrow scorelines atm away from home.

What could go wrong with a string of aways when we haven't won away from home since Fergie left (seemingly)

Well if we can't score more than 1 goal in a game, you expect to be beaten or draw.
So this will be the future until we bring in a few creative players and a prolific CF.

Realistically 5 pts from 4 league games. Narrowly beaten by Alkmaar and Partisan and thumped by Chelsea in the League Cup. We don't want and won't get a good cup run, to instill sections of the Caf that we've "turned the corner".

That "Are we going to get relegated" thread suddenly doesn't look that ridiculous.

Joke aside, I don't think Ole will make it.

There's loads of managers better than Ole ffs. Allegri is available for starters. Plenty of international team coaches who'd probably jump at the chance.

Heck Brendan Rodgers is a far better coach. His Swansea, Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester teams played/play better football than we do. By far.

Ole is just a club legend. He's not a top coach though. Never will be.
Brendan isn’t available. Allegri although better than Ole, wouldn’t improve us in the manner we like or want.

If we get and keep Pogba and Martial fit for most of those games we have a chance. Without them we're fkd.

Genuinely think this is about to get ugly. Buckle up lads.
I do too. I’m following but from behind the couch with my hands over my eyes and peeking through. Rebuild yes sure but we’ve still got the worlds most expensive defender and pogba in the team. We should be challenging hard for top 4 and that’s with anybody in charge. “We need a Utd style striker” mandzukic on deadline day? That’s part of the rebuild? Really?

We must just have a really clunky and slow way of doing business because that was yet another failure for a club of our size. This season is already a write off. We can’t seem to get anything right anymore.

Hahahaha. Lay off the drugs Pal.
Think we'll get a couple of wins before the break and then after it we should have Martial/Shaw/Pogba/Rashford fully fit which will help. Liverpool at Old Trafford could go either way (and often goes our way), partizan is shit, Norwich unpredictable but if anyone they are a team we can play well against, loss to Chelsea in the cup and then a draw to bournemouth. 2 Europa league wins, 1 league cup loss, 2 wins and 2 draws in the league. Not unrealistic.

I like Ole's vision and his idea of how to build the club. If he isn't the right man to be our manager for years to come, then perhaps he is the right man to be the director of football that we have all been craving...

Just did a little bit of analysis on the top half of the table.

Team - Average Opponent's Table Position Through 7 Games - Opponents in Bottom 6 - Opponents in Top 6

Liverpool - 12.00 - 2 - 1
Man City - 12.42 - 4 - 2
Leicester - 10.71 - 1 - 1
Arsenal - 12.14 - 3 - 2
West Ham - 13.00 - 4 - 1
Tottenham - 9.85 - 2 - 3
Chelsea - 10.28 - 2 - 2
Bournemouth - 9.85 - 2 - 3
Palace - 13.00 - 3 - 1
Man Utd - 7.85 - 0 - 3

Not excusing our play, but we've had the toughest first seven games of all of them by a fair amount. City's already played 4 of the cellar dwellers. Of course, they lost to one of them...

Based on that list, I think Tottenham and Bournemouth are for real, and the jury's still out on Leicester, Chelsea, and ourselves. West Ham and Palace will have a comedown, having benefitted from the easier parts of their schedules.

The Liverpool game is not one that I'm dreading, though they're obviously a great team. Form kind of goes in the window in these games, and the crowd will be up for it if it's anything like last season's atmosphere. The others i'm not sure about, it's the premier league virtually anybody can beat anyone else.

Not seen them play but AZ seem to be doing ok in the Dutch league and should be better than Rochdale and Astana you would think? If Ole puts out a weaker team then i'm not sure why people are so confident we will win that one. As I said though, I've not seen them play, they could be crap for all I know

Hey my guy. You seem to think that we're going to get a thrashing. I get that us not winning every game on the planet means that the mighty Liverpool might score 900 goals.

But lets sit down, take a breather, and look at what Daddy Opta tells us about our defensive capabilities.

Manchester United are currently 5th in Goals Against with 7 goals allowed. 2 behind Liverpool at 5 goals against. 7 goals allows are the same as Manchester City. Chelsea have allowed 13 goals this season. To put things into perspective.

Manchester United have 2 clean sheets this season. The same as Liverpool. (Most clean sheets this season are 3).

Manchester United have 58 Interceptions this season. Thats actually third lowest in the league. Who are our Interception stat neighbours? Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City. - What all of these teams have in common is that they possess the ball a far greater extent than their opponent, bringing about less chances of interceptions happening. A low number is good, assuming you concede few goals, which we also do.

Blocks? 13. Third last. Again, we don't allow a lot of shots on goal.

Tackles? Well, AWB is ranked third in league behind Pereira and Ndidi of Manchester City. With 1 less game played, and 2 tackles behind the leader. if AWB is healthy and well, Liverpool are doing nothing on their left wing.

My point is, that for all the MASSIVE doom and gloom going on here, our defensive play is actually among the finest in the league. This is a VERY hard team to score a lot of goals on. Assuming the football gods can see it fit to leave our first team players actually fit for this match, this is a much tighter game than everyone might think.
Yeah, you're right, and have the facts to back it :) It's more of a feeling, but as you said: We're solid defensively.

I think that considering the form is a candidate for the worst we have seen post-Fergie, things are a lot calmer than they should be. I would expect a lot more people to be sticking the knife at this point, but most of the talk is about how poor the players are (which is also true).

I think Ole has the advantage of being a like able guy with a clear vision for the club and that keeps a lot of people on side (press, players, pundits, fans) - what it will mean is that the fallout from an eventual sacking will be huge.

If we get our injured players back and avoid any others i back us to win all of those except Liverpool. Might have one or two draws in EL as we'll use the youth, maybe even a defeat now that i think about it.

You guys seem to be exaggerating too much about this.. I think we are going to do just fine with all the upcoming games if we manage to keep Pogba, Martial, Rashford and Bissaka fit. Secondly, we need to find our scoring magic back. We seem to be struggling to actually find the bottom of the net. I think 1 or 2 goals against any team will boost our game enormously. We just need one good match to actually change the belief within the team. i think we might find the Liverpool game a little tough but i think we can give them a fight if we put our minds to it.

i expect us to win most of those games expects a draw if fine against Liverpool.

If we could just manage 2 or 3 goals against AZ Alkmaar tomorrow, the mentality could start to change. I really think that is the problem right now. It's a head thing, and they have to get out of the funk.

It could get messy. The problem at the moment is we have hardly any creativity and it's difficult to see where the goals are going to come from never mind the wins.

How did we do in the corresponding fixtures last season, we seem to be tracking that graph pretty well so far. We really struggle to score but have a decent defence so I can see a lot of 0-0's in there

It's not that hard. Newcastle Norwich Bournemouth and some average Europa League teams form the bulk of it.

Buckle up guys this will get rough, if Ole is still in the job by the time that run is up he has done well!
What a sad time for my club that a run of seven games including Norwich, Newcastle, AZ Alkmaar, Partizan and Bournemouth will be deemed as the manager doing well ig he can manage to beat those teams. Teams we used to crush without breaking sweat. :nono:

Use to being the big thing there mate, the fact that we have won what 2 or 3 in about 15, not won away from home since Palace early in 2019 and can't score over a goal a game at the moment with a shedload of injuries.

Not to mention that Bournemouth are playing very well especially at home, Norwich have just beaten City at home, AZ are 3rd in Holland and conceded 3 goals in 7 games, Belgrade always a tough intimidating place to go but yeah Newcastle this weekend we SHOULD beat.

So yeah, pretty much if we get through those games with a few wins and Ole still in the job, happy days, unfortunately, it is where we are at the moment, you want to deny that and still think its the Fergie years, go ahead

Our backs are against the wall but that’s how you breed champions.

Genuinely prefer a run of hard games. Shows us where we really are. No point being afraid - we are a GREAT counter attacking team if nothing else.
