Your next manager isn't going to be Pochettino: it will be a caretaker manager after Ole is sacked.

PS. The idea that Pochettino hankered after United in the summer, after reaching the CL final with Spurs, is laughable.
Man Utd is a far bigger club than Spurs. Get over it. We may be run by clueless idiots, but sooner or later we will get back on track. Spurs fans might come to realise how important Pochettino has been to them, & what he might have achieved if he had been backed.

Spurs fans already realise how important Pochettino has been - and is - to us. And he has been backed to the extent allowed by any spare money left over by spending around £1 billion on a new stadium and training centre.

Nothing you've said changes my view that your next manager will be a caretaker, after Ole is sacked sometime this season.

You can keep that guy anyway. Such an overrated manager

That is hilarious considering the vast majority of Spurs Fans on their forums want Pochettino out, with Allegri to come in & succeed him & Mourinho next. Good luck with those two, with their negative football.

I agree with you that our present leader will be sacked this season, & perhaps quite quickly if we keep plunging down the table. Probably will be a caretaker, & hopefully this time they look for a more suitable manager at the end of it. Your boss will do fine & might get him without out any compensation if your fellow fans keep hounding him out & Levy loses his nerve.

It won't make any difference who is in charge at Spurs, there time as a challenging PL club is at an end.

The majority of their better players either want out of have already left - as many on here predicted would happen if Levy refused to keep their salaries in line with their ability - and Poch has all but given up by the looks of things. Poch made the biggest mistake of his career not making himself available for the Real job (which was all but his by all accounts) which he will soon come to regret. I'm sure he'd love to take the United job right now.

Pochettino would be my pick but I think Allegri would be an exceptional appointment.

If the club's new mantra is anything to go by we will definitely go for a young British manager.
Bloody hope not even though I like Howe but he’s one more jump before this job.

Let’s just pray the long term plan doesn’t involve. Sancho, Maddison, Rice and Chidwell. We need to be more imaginative.

On the contrary - after years of austerity we will now increasingly have much more money to spend on the squad since our income will continue to rapidly increase.

As for the "majority" of better players, only Walker has left so far. That's 1 player in several years: so much for the endless predictions that get trotted out summer after summer. And if 1 or 2 more go, then they'll be replaced … we signed Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessegnon last summer.

It's pure wishful thinking to believe that Pochettino is yearning for United. The season is young and Spurs have more to play for than do United IMO.

Who, exactly?

The only ones that wait out are the ones who have been amongst the worst in the squad for a good season or so now. All the others have signed long term contracts

Ye, it's extremely hard to imagine we won't go with Allegri. Seems like something we'd do. Which is a shame, because I'd much rather see us go for someone progressive.

So much more money to spend? Any evidence of that? No reason for Levy to loosen the purse strings especially now that Pochettino has given up. Seeing you posting such bull crap straw clutching stuff here makes me smile to see Spurs in such a mess.

Assuming that Ole gts the sack before January, who do you envision as a caretaker? Or do you think they will go for a permanent replacement instead?

*sigh* For those suggesting Erik ten Hag over someone like Eddie Howe, please keep in mind that:

1) The Eredivisie is such a league that the likes of Steve McClaren could win it, and with a lesser resourced AZ team at that, and...

2) The multiple Eredivisie winner Philip Cocu is struggling at a Derby team team that are always expected to be in and around the playoffs.

This is not to say that Cocu is a bad manager, or that ten Hag is not a good manager. My point is that everyone massively oversimplifies managerial CVs and are seemingly useless at being able to put things into context. In fact, it is impossible to truly put things into context as we fans simply do not know enough about the minutiae of any specific managerial job.

Put simply: How could you possibly be certain that getting a club like Man United in the CL is a more difficult achievement than staying up with Burnley? Or keeping a club like Rotherham in the Championship? Or getting promoted the the Prem with a club like Bristol City, etc....
I know what you mean, but keep in mind that Ajax dispatched the holders of CL Real Madrid and comfortably beat Ronaldo’s Juventus.

If not for those 15 minutes where Poch decided to summon his inner SAF, I think they would’ve beaten Pool in the final.

This year they also look pretty sharp. So while I agree that coaching in Eredevide doesn’t take a ton of talent, looking competent in the CL while dispatching European giants does.

The games in europe you mention are just one off games though where anything can happen, could he have beat them on a consistent basis? I have my doubts.

Sadly I think it'd go the way of LVG - dour football. If he had the best team in Italy playing so negatively, what would we look like under him?

I hope we go for a young, attacking manager who'll implement a press properly - in the vein of Klopp at Liverpool for example. Right from day 1 he's had them playing very good football and it's paying off for them now with CL last season and PL this season

Poch, Rose or Nagelsmann for me.

It feels like the appointment will be another crucial decision to be made, one which the board have messed up on so many occasions before. This could be a Klopp-type scenario. Is Pochetinno’s star fading or is the potential of Nagelsmann big enough to make him the next top manager?
I would be happy with both. Pochetinno has shown he can do a lot under a tricky board and limited resources, while Nagelsmann is young, tactically modern and shows good potential in a good league.

The director of football is key too of course. And again someone proven is needed.

Our next manager will be Alegri and could be sooner than we think. Pochettino is wanting Real or Barca.

Walker, Rose (clearly wanted out but was unable to find a suitor), Eriksen, Vertonghen, Alderweireld are hardly the worse players in the squad. They are or were the back bone of the fist team.

You failed to replace Walker with a player of equal or better ability, Lo Celso isn't fit to tie Eriksen's shoe laces and Sanchez isn't a patch on Verts or Toby.

Replacing integral first-team players such as those mentioned above would be a challenge for anyone, let alone Spurs with their restricted budget.

The evidence began in the summer, when we spent far more in net terms than for many years past.

What makes me smile is the knee-jerk notion that Spurs are "in such a mess" when (a) we are still likely to qualify for the CL knock-out stages; (b) have 30 league games left in which to claw back the 3 point gap between us and the current top 4; and (c) have just opened our stadium to NFL football in spectacularly successful fashion, with all the commercial opportunities that come with this.

I'm just really impressed by Erik ten Hag... tactically and standards. I am totally convinced that he would have United playing like City after a couple of windows.

His teams play as a team, he demands high pass accuracy, and they are tactically lethal on the breaks. He would improve the current squad by miles. He looks to be a world class manager. His standards look high. Don't let Barca or Juve or somebody steal him.

Why do you think the Ajax board are trying real hard to hold onto him?

You lost 7-2 to Bayern, 3-0 to Brighton back to back, please spear me some nonsensical ifs and buts or how many shots on target you had, no one cares, ifs and buts don’t count in football, Spurs look crap for almost as long as Ole's United do, if not longer, absolute crap.
If you don’t see that there are some serious issues in that team then you’re seriously deluding yourself.

By the looks of it, that team is done, good luck rebuilding it.

So, as I say, just one of our better player has left over the past several years. Hardly the "majority" you've been claiming/predicting.

I doubt you've seen Lo Celso in action sufficiently often to be making such an absurd claim - he's barely featured for Spurs so far due to injury. As for Verts and Toby - they are knocking on now and so Spurs would be expecting one or both to be let go in the near future anyhow. And Sanchez will replace one of them very ably.

Another knee-jerk, wildly premature response: Spurs "are done" when, as I've said, we are still likely to qualify for the CL knock-out stages and have 30 league games left in which to gain back the 3 point gap between us and the current top 4.

Most teams go through a bad patch at some point. Your problem is the wishful thinking that sees Spurs' current bad patch as permanent.
