Wonder what the verdict will be :wenger: Also wonder how many elections bjp will win on the back of the expected verdict.
Verdict will be such that it would not act as a precedent for future title suits around the country in a legal sense because they won't be following property law in this case. All the arguments presented were irrelevant if one goes by what the law says as to ownership of a piece of land. I believe the verdict will be something along the lines of the allahabad high court judgment.

I'd be genuinely amazed to see a verdict similar to that of the high court.

Not sure of the full basis, but seems like the SC have made an arrangement, rather than a verdict. Although not unexpected either

What a verdict by our esteemed Supreme Court so many contradictions, need to wait for full decision to make sense of it if there is any.

No proof a temple was demolished to build the mosque.
Demolition of Mosque was illegal.
Lets build a temple there and give the muslims 5 acres of land somewhere else.

That tracks.

Yeah maybe I'm missing something but the reporting of the courts judgement didn't match with their conclusion.

It appears the court accepted the Hindu belief that Ram was born under the central dome and that Hindu theological belief was enough to make this judgment.

More than 100 pages have been dedicated as an addenda to the judgementf explaining the reasoning behind the conclusion reached by the Court.

The judgement is 1000 odd pages long so we will have to wait to get the full picture. But I do wonder what the judgement would have been if there was mosque still standing at the site.

Scary what's happening in/to India. Doesn't bode well for the future. The extremists just can't see it.

Hope the nation moves forward with peace and prosperity. Time to put this to bed and focus on other important issues.

One out of the way. Next Kashi and Mathura.
Nah, don't think so, there's nothing like the movement for Ram Jhanmoobi associated with either. Next is probably UCC.

I actually think in the grand scheme of things this is a good decision. For most Hindus, this was a massive sore point and, with its resolution, people can move on - I hope.

My take on this issue is simple.

If the site was taken illegally due to Moghuls exerting their power then it should be handed back to its rightful owners despite the passing of time. Masjids should never be built on places sacred to other religions and prayers never allowed on disputed land.

Umar (RA) set a precedent

"It has been recorded in the annals of Muslim chronicles, that at the time of the Noon prayers, Sophronius invited Umar to pray in the rebuilt Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Umar declined, fearing that accepting the invitation might endanger the church's status as a place of Christian worship and that Muslims might break the treaty and turn the church into a Mosque"

If the Masjid still stood and worshippers frequented the prayers this outcome of the judges would have been different. Lets' hope this does not serve as a precedent for right-wing fundamentalists claiming other places of worship and peace and tranquillity prevails between communities. The most important issue is worship. Muslims need to build a Masjid in a prominent location where worship of God actually takes place than expanding its energy on land where it has been abandoned for decades. Even if the ruling was different my limited information is there are not many Muslims in the vicinity to frequent prayers even if the ruling had been different.

They can see it. They just love this idea of a morally bankrupt India.

People who believe in a secular India.
Ah okay then. People who aren't bigoted. It appears it's often used a negative term in India these days.

There is an Islamic tradition/ruling which states hurting a fellow human being is worse than knocking down the Kaaba (the holiest site in the Muslim world) People need to get a grip on realities.

Its' quite simple to understand what is more important in the eyes of God.

Neither side could prove the ownership of the land though.

I meant on the Muslim side, there are more than one party involved.

All I care about is that this matter is finally put to bed one way or the other. We have far more important matters to take care of as a nation than this freak show that has been going on for the entirety of my life span.
Good thoughts but unfortunately it would be naive to think that this is now behind us. It is only now that this will truly start being milked politically and will be the curtain to hide the real issues.

I agree. If the land was so revered by another community, and does not have the same status in another, its the right decision. Muslims in the locality can build a mosque anywhere, their prayers will be just as valid to whom they worship.

The Muslim community can make this a big deal or no deal at all. Would be best of all if its the latter. I hope the Hindu's also accept this judgement with humility and grace.

As you also wrote, the issue becomes one of precedence: how do you stop any party emboldened by this judgement from launching frivolous claims over other places of worship? Especially when the current BJP is so hell bent on this hinduvata style of culture and law?
