Hate when people mention this. What exactly are Spurs expected to win?

They can’t be expected to win anything domestic with teams like Man City & Liverpool around.
Not even an FA Cup, League Cup? The Europa league is a competition even we have won, they have failed in it consistently whenever they were in it. This is even worse, they have as much a chance as any top 6 team if not more than others to get a trophy, they've had at least two chances to get a title and one was to Leicester. They were not even in bad form like the rest of the top six were and still were nowhere near the foxes. Maybe it's the manager who can't push these players over the finish line, they have and always will be bottlers until something changes over there.

Looks a pretty terrible decision tbh. Better hope the next manager has a pretty good 6 months or half their team leave and the other half put in transfer requests i presume.

Incredibly sad day for the club and I feel quite emotional about it all. I say this despite wanting Poch sacked for the last few months - I still absolutely love and respect the guy and it is incredibly sad to see him get sacked. I think it is the correct decision but it really hurts.
Squishy will be celebrating somewhere.

I'd say he transformed Spurs, despite not winning anything. They became a consistent top four club under him and he played a pivotal role in developing quite a few players.

Be interesting to see where Spurs go from here.

I really don't know what Poch was supposed to do with such a shite budget and a squad full of wantaway players. The performances from the supposed top players at Spurs have been an utter disgrace in the last few months, do you think that is likely to change under a different manager or what?

Gets to a point where there's no saving it. So hard to win morale, motivation and respect back once it's gone, so correct decision.

If we have even the slightest shred of ambition we should be all over this in the summertime. Sadly we won't an he'll go somewhere else and be a massive success.

I really don't understand why you'd want him sacked?

Yes the results haven't been good but surely your anger should be at your board and players over the manager?

Imagine if he had left at the end of last season when it had looked as though he had done all he could do with spurs as levy was never going to go all out in the summer to try and compete with the runaway top 2 in liverpool and man city.

He would have had so many clubs queuing up to recruit him.

A bit surprised. Probably should not have signed the five extension last season.

This will be a Klopp situation all over again. We will do the noble thing and stick with our Van Gaal (Ole) while other teams snap up a great manager.

He will still have shitloads of clubs trying to recruit him because the vast majority of people know the current situation isn't due to him.

I think that despite all that he had come to the end at the club and had lost the dressing room so had to go. He has had to work with a tight budget since he got here so that hasnt really changed, what has changed is that sadly he has lost his way at the club and lost many of the players and he has been unable to change his ways. We do need a different manager to get the squad working together again.

Pretty much how i see it. Maybe he wanted away too? Still a bit odd to sack him unless you've got someone lined up to walk in tomorrow.

I think he had earned the right to be given the remainder of the season based on what he has achieved for the club over the five years he has been in charge.

Think it's a hasty decision and one Levy may come to regret.

Well there you have it. TopSpur officially a more ambitious club and less satisfied with mediocrity than Manchester United.

* Not that I think Poch is a mediocre manager. He just reached the end of his cycle at Spurs with a crushing defeat in the CL and then no investment coupled with all the best players running down their contracts.
If a manager took us to the CL final no way we would sack him within 6 months of that. To some he might even be given a free pass to relegate us the following year

You would be an idiot club owner to let the last 6 months taint your opinion about Poch's abilities.

There are a lot of them. Including Levy in some aspects

I'm angry at Levy for not fully backing the manager but Poch has made awful mistakes in the last few months with his team selections and tactics - he has been unable to motivate what is still a very talented squad and that is why he had to go as sad as it is.

It was coming, Poch is still mourning his CL lost final. They should hire Allegri for the next step up, the squad is there, the foundational work laid for him is excellent, they just need men management and pragmatism to win.

On another note: the Ole Out brigade just gained a unified erection that threatens the very fabric of Redcafe and the United fanbase in general.

I think the difference is Pochettino wanted out. I'm sure this is more of a mutual decision than it appears.

We even give managers a free pass to relegate us if they win a single away game in the CL quarter finals.
