The new features aren't quite so in your face as last time round. Bookmarks to save individual posts, better formatting for tables and having a reply box where the autocorrect doesn't continually mess up the format/spelling are probably the most visible.
I guess there are other things going on under the hood, and the fact we were using a version XF that was no longer getting updates as browsers/media change have to factor in as well.
But yeah, at the moment the mobile version looks/feels rather clunky and I'm finding some things like quoting/replying to part of a post just about impossible. It's really early days though, and the XF1 version contained years of tuning and customisation, whereas we're only a couple of days into this one.
I'm not sure what the NEW tag on posts is for though, nor the filters toolbar on forum pages. They just look like clutter to me, but maybe some people use them. Which I guess is Niall's dilemma, we're all used to how we each used the old site, so we miss our stuff and don't see the point of other people's....
I dunno, I just found XF1 immediately beneficial and better than vBulletin, I don't recall at the time being frustrated with the layout like I am now. I do appreciate the fact that efforts are being made to sort it, though, but even little fixes I don't think will solve the fact that, on mobile at least, it's actually a less user friendly experience than the XF1 site. It just seems to take more button clicks to do certain things which is always a no-no with site upgrades!
I guess the lack of updates on XF1 is a big thing though so I can definitely understand it, and I'm sure over time it will become much better. Like I said, the desktop site is great, but sadly, not many people actually use desktop that much anymore!
I don't think "in your face" is a bad thing with buttons and features though, I'd prefer it to be big and visible rather than annoyingly small. I still think the edit and quote buttons should be much bigger and less... light grey, for starters.
Oh and I am very happy about the new edit box that doesn't continuously cock up my GBoard, that's probably the best feature so far!
