It's unfair but if you choose to racially abuse somebody in front of thousands, plus TV cameras and millions watching then you open yourself up for more punishment. It's why devious people commit crimes away from witnesses.
We are also seeing people in public caught racially abusing others because somebody has recorded it, this has helped get them convicted.
Anyway, this guy will probably get another job when the heat has died down.

People very quickly found other odious racist material on his Facebook and Twitter when he was identified.
His company were made aware of all of it.

He bought it upon himself. And if some of his posts that are going around are authentic then what was captured on camera can’t be passed off by him as a moment of stupidity or having one too many, but was actually a reflection of his beliefs and personality.
So yeah while camera phones and twitter etc have their good points. As you pointed out with helping to record crimes and identify perpetrators, sometimes it becomes blood thirsty.
I wonder what % of the people calling for him to be fired don’t have a moment in their life that they’d rather go to either the police or a priest and confess privately instead of having it judged by twitter.
That’s the problem with mob justice, it becomes less about justice and more about people getting kicks on seeing someone suffer while using the pretext of that persons crime to make themselves feel justified.

Company is on his facebook and the company in question has said on their social media page that employee has been suspended pending an investigation. Bit difficult to suspend someone who doesn't work for you if he isn't currently employed by them.

Many jobs would fire you over racist behaviour if it was caught on social media or not.

Piara Powar, executive director of Fare network, which works against discrimination in football, condemned the incident but said it was unsurprising:
“There is a contagion, This is happening everywhere unquestionably because of a few things. One of those is mimicry – people are seeing others doing it and they think that they can follow and it’s legitimate to do it.” He added that the idea of clubs facing sanctions if incidents of racial abuse committed by their fans were frequent should be debated. “I think focusing on an individual is a good way to make that individual accountable, but sometimes we need to look wider than that and frame people as a collective.”
Speaking on Sky in the aftermath of the Manchester derby, Gary Neville linked Boris Johnson’s rhetoric on immigration during election campaigning with the number of racist incidents in British society and sport:
“You are watching the prime minister’s debate where he is talking about migration to this country and people having to have certain levels. It fuels it all the time. It has got worse over the last few years in this country and not just in football.” He suggested English football has a greater responsibility after Gareth Southgate’s England team were racially abused in Bulgaria this year. “We always judge other countries on how they deal with racism but we are poor with dealing with it ourselves,” he said.
Powar, whose organisation works with Uefa to monitor racism across Europe, agreed with Neville:
“There are things being said within a political domain that four or five years ago were just not acceptable. Whether it’s Boris Johnson and his well-known comments about Africans or Muslim women wearing burqas, or whether it’s the National Front in France. The poisonous discourse is everywhere. What is said by politicians is followed up by the media, some of whom give it legitimacy.”

So now what happens if a player gets convicted of racially abusing another player?
Will the club fire that player, will the premier league ban him from every stadium? Do different rules apply to players, or will it ultimately depend on the importance of the player?

Politicians blame football for societal issues all the time. Not sure why it is a surprise when a footballer blames a politician for his own rhetoric.

I do agree with you to some degree here. In the minute leading up to the incident, he does shake his hands around a lot, making a lot of wanker gestures, and it's not completely different from the gorilla incident. After viewing it many times I am leaning towards it being a gorilla impression, but I don't think it is set in stone. The plane gestures in other clips are much more clear cut.
I do find it a little disturbing how the online mob can find him guilty to the point of involving his kids in the matter. I don't condone racism in any way, but do you deserve to have your life ruined over a 1 second incident because it happened to end up on television? I think a lifetime fan on Citys end could be fitting, but the whole ordeal of tracking him down online to afflict as much pain as possible doesn't really speak to me.
