Transfer Thread:

How much would R Van Nistelrooy be worth today and what teams does he fit in best?
Prime RVN would be a 100 mill plus player easily.

One of the most natural goal scorers you will come across. He was lethal for us in the years he was here.

Players like that always go for the biggest money.

Put him in the City team, with the sheer amount of chances they create, and I would back him to outscore Aguero.

Villa are getting relegated if they have to sell anyone.. they are already in trouble.. Southampton will find a way to stay up.. They are already favorites to go down.

Matheus Pereira was linked recently, probably him.
He's quality, their best player by a mile. West Brom have a deal in place to sign him for, I think £9m at any point during his loan. So we'd be dealing with them rather than with Sporting, but I'm not sure we'd have to break the bank for him. Hard to judge based on playing in the Championship, but I think he'd be a good signing.

I hope the other one is Ferguson. Grady Diangana has done well for them, but he's on loan from West Ham, and based on his Twitter actually hates us, so probably a no go. Don't think there's any others we'd be looking at.

Enlighten me?
It’s not a competitive statement. If I tell someone a player is a ‘proper player’ or a ‘good player’, the logical response is not ‘compared to who’. It’s one of either agreement or disagreement.

I’m not that convinced by him. Feel we have better prospects coming through
Guess the problem is that we dont have in exactly his position, and the current players isnt good enough. Think we should let him have another year.

Imagine letting Gomes go and keeping "Chongy". For all Ole's youth policy stuff, lack of chances for him and then possibly letting him leave would really piss me off.

If Pereira can float around for so long at the club, Gomes has to get a new contract.

Agree. Gomes has performed way better than Chong and I think he deserves more chances. Curious what his salary demands are though. It's not like they are not offering him a contract but apparently not enough

So maybe the issue isn't Ole but maybe its Gomes? He wouldn't be the first academy starlet to take their foot off the pedal / get too big for their boots when they've made it through to the first team. Ole is more proactive with bringing academy graduates into the team so its hard to believe he would be simply picking on Gomes, either he's not ready / isn't applying himself / is making demands the club don't think he is worth.

Correct. That would be my assumption.

I doubt he's picking on him, I'm just baffled at chances given to nothing players namely Periera when Gomes has a lot more potential.

He's probably making big demands, I'll just be sick if we don't cave into them for a talented kid like him when we throw contracts around like confetti for utter shite half the time.

Think Levy's saying what he's said about Eriksen because he's probably struggling to find a team who will spend the money they're possibly asking for.

Fact is, they need to sell him in January, otherwise he'll be free in the summer. So if a 'domestic rival' is willing to pay decent money for him, then Levy will sell.

I personally wouldn't want Eriksen. Fantastic player, but I just get the feeling he'll be another Mata in a few years. Whilst he is a great playmaker, he lacks the energy, which wouldn't suit the pressing style Ole wants to go with.
Levy overplayed his hand with Eriksen. Thought he could get that little bit more in the summer and the arse fell out of it. Free in the summer, now.

Improper player, like Neil Shipperley

Shippers is clinical mate.

Finally, the writing has been on the wall for Gomes all season. Something was obviously wrong with the situation. No excuses not to buy a #10/CAM now - fans can't harp on about it 'blocking Gomezy' or whatever.

I think that was the plan so offer a contract to see if he steps up but he wants more money. Thats what it sounds like to me. Nothing wrong with that, the club and the player just see things differently.

Not sure what an underwhelming offer is, for a player that hasn't impressed all that much for the first team bar the pre-season. Leave it to Luckhurst to make us look bad though.
That's what I was thinking. What does Gomes think he is worth and the offer could be normal for a player his age.

It most likely is, but saying that Gomes is unhappy with United's offer doesn't get Luckhurst as many clicks, I'd assume.

Any offer would be a good deal.. Dont think he has done anything to deserve a 3-4 year contract on any decent-ish wage.

If he wants to stay, he can sign any contract, prove himself and he would get a new deal right away.. we wont wait for 3-4 years for that.

If he thinks he can do better, then sure.. good luck.. I dont have any issues if he wants to leave.

There isn’t much in their unders record and as of now Gomes hasn’t made any impact in the first team. Chong has at least had a couple of good performances.

Don't remember any good Chong performances. Keeps losing the ball nearly every dribble or some stupid pass. Gomes on the other hand looks really good with his dribbling and can definetly see him become a great player.
