Ole did say he has the backing but only will spend if the right players are available. Frankly, there are at least a dozen players that would strengthen us right now.
Then he needs to force their hand. Keep playing that team and say that’s all you’ve got, bluff the press with you’ve been told there’s a deal done this window and at least two in the summer, or give the board an ultimatum of sack me before the months out or bring in two players of notable quality this window.

If there are no signings this window he might as well walk on Feb 1st because he won’t see out the season and he’s naïve to trust the board. They’ll make an income related decision the second top 4 is no longer viable.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Thank Christ there are some match going fans seeing sense.
There's been a lot of booing recently.

Today there were a lot of tickets on general sale so I'm guessing there's quite a lot of the usual match going fans not turning up. Not for the first time this season either.

Apart from the singing section there rest of the stadium, Stretford end included, is like a funeral most weeks.

1. Pay somebody if we have to but get Lingard, Jones and Pereira out of the club right now, so they can never play for us again. Absolute catastrophe all three of them.

2. Drop DDG and let Romero start for the rest of the season and bring Henderson back from loan in the summer

3. Buy 2-3 quality midfielders ASAP

Also, if Pogba and Tuanzebe come back before the next leg with City, trash City at Etihad 2:0 and kick those obnoxious cnuts out of the competition. Because we can. We really do.

Sigh

Result as expected. The player quality in this United team is nothing to shout about. We are just average.

How can any fan back Ole if he ever plays lingard and especially Jones again, it would have to be extreme circumstances to be ok seeing either of these two start a match again unless its against some really low down minnow team that are complete walk over in either the fa cup or Europa league.

I would have rather seen us put dalot at right back and use Bissaka as a central defender tonight than Jones starting the match and I would also rather see Ashley bloody young be used as our attacking midfielder over lingard.

On your first point who’s the idiot giving them fresh contracts? Manager or Board?

It was hard to tell when Ole was caretaker. Anything that happens now is on him

Saw the team sheet Including De Gea, Jones and Lingard, expected this result and it just confirms that Ole has no idea what he's doing. None of those players should be in the team but he keeps picking them, yes we have Injuries but we have to stop picking blokes whose time at the club is all but over. We have some tough fixtures ahead with Wolves twice coming to OT and Liverpool, im hoping the Ole era will end soon.

Ole laid it on a plate for Pep today. Might as well had just put on Fred alone. Lindelof Jones Pereira Lingard just watch on and they walk right through like a guard of honour.

Shocking is we've both spent a billion, we can't field one team or have a manager to set us up properly and they can field two teams.

Sadly, methinks this still isn't anywhere near rock bottom for us. Until the club starts to lose money, Glazers and Eddie won't change anything.

....and Solskjaer has won it!
We started brightly for the first 15 or 20 minutes, getting in behind them a couple of times without any end product. However we did struggle to cope with their high press, especially Jones, and also De Gea, who had few options. As such we kept giving City the ball back and they eventually dominated the first half for the last 30 minutes. I couldn't understand why we were allowing their midfielders to have so much space and eventually Bernardo was left with bags of time to score with a shot, as if it were in the pre-match warm up and not the game proper. A lack of tracking of midfield runners was very apparent and more horrendous errors ensued. Before you knew it we were 3-0 down and it could have been worse.

After a booing off from some fans at half time, the switch to Matic, with his physical presence, game intelligence and composure changed it for us and we competed much better second half. His lack of pace didn't seem to matter so much in this game.

Issues for me were:
-The forwards who all seemed to want to play through the middle. There was a stark contrast with City. For example Stirling was prepared to go well out wide and therefore stretch our defenders to open up the gaps.
-Little movement in the team, especially from the front three. We failed to stretch their defence.
-No leaders on the pitch; and a lack of midfield protection for our defenders
-No tracking midfield runners and letting them get shots off too easily
-Some poor decision making. The fans had better ideas in some cases
-Jones and his frequent 'heart in the mouth' moments. He seems to lack motor coordination, coming out of "challenges" not knowing where the ball is etc.

Positives:
-Brandon Williams supported a lot of our attacking play and defended well
-Lindeloff looked very composed and put in some good blocks and tackles
-Despite the scoreline, the fans outclassed the City corner. If they were a three goals down you wouldn't have heard a peep

I can understand that Ole has to say, we can give it a go and turn it around at the Emptyhad. He has to.
But I can’t believe people on here are repeating this daydream.
Setting aside that an aggregate draw leads to a penalty shootout, to turn it around, we have to win 3-0, 4-1 or 5-2 etc.
We struggle to even get any shots on target, never mind goals, so how are we going to score 3 or more goals ...and who seriously thinks City are not going to score at least one goal.

We didn’t get that caning tonight that looked odds on in the first half, but it’s coming.
City fans will be salivating over the prospect.

Arsene Wenger used to play kids all the time, and still played nice football and guaranteed Top 4 almost every season.

Bernardo Silva certainly showed us what we missed out on in that first half, what a top drawer strike that was. I really thought we were going to get smacked 5 or 6 at half time but showed a little bit of spirit.

So when Woodward gives out new contracts to "protect the investment", It´s still Ole´s fault?
Deadwood must be gone. Whether Woodward signs a contract before it, so he can cash-in on departure or not, is a detail. But if the players are actually not gone and actually get play time, you have to blame the manager, at some point.

Both. I'm tired of people blaming X or Y to save face of somebody else. Everyone directly involved with the biggest decisions in this club has proved incredibly incompetent.

I didn't see the game due to time differences. I was really hoping to come on here and see that we had been robbed by VAR or it had been a close game.

Sounds like yet another car crash. The club is dying and I can't see it turning around to be honest. There isn't much to be positive about.

With lingard and Jones in starting line-up, it’s already guaranteed automatic 0-2 loss. So I take it as 1-1 draw instead. Can’t complain much.

Phil Jones deserves some credit for that goal. If he weren't so incredibly useless, he would have closed Silva down and probably blocked the shot.

I hope there was a good reason for keeping Tuanzebe out of the starting line up. Otherwise, it's hard not to question Ole's competence and/or sanity.

No, you don't have to blame the manager at some point. Not in this case.

We find it difficult to move the deadwood due mostly to high wages, which is none of the managers business.

The board won't sign new players unless others are moved on (even then they probably won't).

Manager is stuck with mediocre players, forced to play them and is then held accountable for the results.

This is not a defense of Ole by the way. Just pointing out where the problems lie. Previous managers have struggled, Ole is struggling, and any replacement will also struggle until the mess upstairs is sorted out.

I find it hard to criticize any of the players when they are hamstrung by tactics bar Lingard. I mean what were they supposed to do. All the goals came straight through the middle. This is simply because we had 1 real midfielder Fred trying to stop the best midfield in the Prem. I dont even thnk Jones had that bad a game. Yes got turned for one goal and should have closed down the first but you just cant let the opposing team run at your CB's constantly. Second half was a decent performance. This was not because Lingard was replaced. Well it is because he was sht but it was mainly because we replaced him with an actual midfielder in Matic. who would have thought it. 2 midfielders. Genius. Im sorry Ole is to blame. He gets it wrong time and time again. Then the second half he throws players on and hopes for the best and I think we play well in-spite of Ole not because of him. Thats why I still have a little tiny ray of hope for these players because I think they play well even though the manager is cutting their legs from under them.

Utterly embarrassing performance. Phil Jones isn't even League One standard. The City fan in our office just came in and said it's the first time he's every felt sorry for us........having to play Jones. They looked beaten before the kick off. Utterly shambolic. 3-1 was flattering, it could have been 5 or more first half. Ole just cannot fire them up conistently and tactically looks way out of his depth.........then he'll get it right every 4th or 5th game. Not good enough.

Don't even care enough to be mad. Why ruin our mental space for a club that is riddled with mediocrity and incompetence all the way through

Not only City would've rip us apart with such an open team in the first half. Jones starting as CB with Pereira, Fred and Lingard of all people in his current form starting ahead of him, what did you expect?
For us to get beat comprehensively, which we did. What the feck are you even arguing?

Well last time we got a result on their turf.

The argument is that the City side we played against yesterday is far from the unbeatable side from last year and they have been shaky the whole season.

It's not the players that can't get a result at home and register the worst half in ages, but the inept manager first and foremost.

Right, we did, and the general rhetoric after that wasn't "Ole did great", but "see, we have the players, our manager is the problem", well which is it then, seeing as for you he was clearly the problem today?

City were also much better yesterday than in the other game. You keep saying they're a shaky team this season and sure, they are, hence we scored against them, but when their attack is on form like it was yesterday they're still almost unplayable. The feck do we do with Phil Jones and Lindelof at CB exactly?

The right players are always available if you are ready to pay up, and depending how you want to look at it, same thing goes the other way around, if you aren't ready to pay the good players are never available.
