I was there at the game mate. You need to be watching the whole play unfold to get the best picture of what is happening. Yes he was involved in two of their goals but the problem was that our team was being pressed in to making errors and was extremely stretched with no protection of our back four and with their midfield totally outnumbering and out moving ours.

In terms of composure at the back and getting good tackles in in HIS area of the pitch he was much better than Jones for whom the ball was like a hot potato. When Lindeloff was drawn out of position to meet their midfielders or meet balls that our midfielders should be winning that's when the mistakes were made. For the Mahrez goal he was dragged out to deal with the long ball in the air then had to run back (nobody covered for him) when his header fell to a City player who then played it forward to where Lindeloff should have been. There was no CDM on our team to win that header. For the Pereira own goal, again poor decision making and passing up front caused us to lose the ball and Lindeloff was again drawn in to a midfield position leaving us short at the back and running back towards our own goal.
It was his individual error that led to goal. Poor reading of the game and coming out to center. Poor header and no attempt or intelligence to go back and rectify his mistake. The midfield is poor but this is taking the piss.

Let’s not forget the awfully timed slide tackle that let Mahrez in, should have stayed on his feet!

Whilst admitting Lindelöf and Jones are not our best CB pairing, I suspect Rio and Vidic at their best would have struggled (and don't forget they had Carrick playing in front of them) against City. Our two full backs held up the City wing play to some extent but the 'false nine' (a 15 minute training session according to De Bruyne sorted this) system adopted by City was our undoing, and with no real DM in our side (until Matic arrived second half) it left our two CB's woefully exposed.

A 90 minute game was effectively condensed into 20/25 minutes in the middle of the first half, in fact the whole tie might finish up being settled by this period of play.

Does this make Pep a genius, or Ole still serving his management apprenticeship?

I don't think you appreciate how bad individually Lindelof & Jones are. As a pairing they are Championship level at best. The second goal was all on Lindelof. A poor header & poor reading of what would happen after. Jones was at fault for the third, sold himself in the area allowing KDB to put the ball across goal. Pereira had to get something on the ball as Sterling was waiting behind for a tap in. Rio & Vidic wouldn't have made these kind of mistakes There's a good chance they would have noticed the danger & got out to Silva too to stop the first.

Has to go down as incredible naivety from Ole. Went into the game with exactly the same game plan as the last 1. The thinking was if it worked once it will work again. The fact that we were missing key personnel from the last game hasn't seemed to enter the equation for him. What worries me is that the vast majority of us could see what was going to happen when we named our team yet Ole didn't.

I would say Ole is desperate for recruits.
That's not what he is saying in the interviews.
He says that we are looking to buy only the right player, at the right price.
He doesn't seem to be desperate at all.
Unless of course you think he is lying?

Which manager is ever fully truthful to the media when discussing transfers ? They all either lie or duck the question. Which is fair, you don’t want the whole world knowing which players you’re bidding for or seriously interested in, for obvious reasons.
