Would love it for him to come here and fail miserably, half the posters on here wouldn’t know what to do with themselves.

Especially since most of them are used to us winning and winning trophies, they’re not used to losing and having bad patches and having to stick through a club in bad times.

Imagine the supporting a League 1 or League 2 side. Don’t think they’d last half a season!
I'm pretty sure his subtle comment went way over your head :smirk:

Surely it's up to the medical staff to give the manager a red or a green light regarding the players fitness. If Solskjær played Rashford while being told by the medicals not to, that's a sackable offence. Somehow i don't think that's the story. But any excuse to have a go at Solskjær will do.
Solskjaer himself admitted to risking Rashford against Wolves and said it backfired. He did the same with Lingard v Liverpool last season and Lingard was substituted off after been out for weeks previously. Solskjaer has to take responsibility here.

Do you think you are the only person on this site alive back in the day ? As read some bullshit but that bolden bit, forget 88/89 89/90 when under Fergie we finished 11th having only won 13 matches, following season having only won 13 finished 13th and the cries went out, ta ra fergie, thanks for nothing now feck off back to Scotland you useless **** (* = derogatory word use to describe scots)

Yeah lets get Pouch the guy who left his team in Spain rock bottom, 9 points off safety before he walked out, couldn't beat the mighty foxes in a two horse race for the league, unable to get anything from Ali past year, plays an unfit keane in the biggest game of their season at the expense of the player who got them there.
Where was the team when SAF took over? Second from bottom.

He clearly knew he wasn't full ready to play but decided to gamble it and threw him in hoping for the best of luck. Of course, if you're gambling on a not fully fit player, any injury getting aggravated won't be that surprise. Nothing a hindsight in this. You can't risk playing players with knocks all the time and hoping your luck will be good every time. A player not fully fit and holding several knocks to his back should never play regardless of the result of the match. He should have been rested for this match and today's match too.
No one is "fully fit" at this stage of the season. One of my best friends played indoor volleyball at a high level and he said at the end of a season pretty much everyone was in some kind of pain, either in muscles, joints or bones. High level sports of any kind is an enormous stress on the body and especially the EPL, which is one of the most physically demanding leagues in the world. Pretty much everyone has a knock of some sort by this stage and we dont have the luxury of rotating that much.

There is a reason why clubs employ professional medical staff. They have to make a judgement whether or not someone is fit to play and then pass it on to the manager. Ole knows how important Rashford is, if he played him against the medical staffs recommendations hes trying to self sabotage, do you think that is the case?

It was a risk that backfired (as he said). As the season progresses every single player experiences wear and tear on the body. Of course its easy to say in hindsight that he should not have played but ultimately its the medical staff and the player themselves who have to make the decision if they are fit to join the match day squad. Same with Pogba vs Rochdale

Do you really think Ole knew "Well, Rashford is just a slight knock away from a stress fracture, but i am going to throw him in anyway".
Rashford was seen and photographed carrying a bone fracture healing device since before the Norwich game, so I don't believe that the club didn't know since then that he had a fracture. They knew.

The biggest problem at United is the complete lack of structure at the top. Would Klopp or Guardiola have come here and worked wonders with Woodward and the Glazers over the past year? I very, very much doubt it.

Argued no top team ever. Ever wondered why? See, you can't have it both ways: want to be considered a top team? Then you have got to win stuff every now and then. Fans will support the team no matter what, but that's no excuse for the board to accept mediocrity. These fans pay more to watch their team than the rest, so of course they will demand more - it's part of the deal. That's why "winning is not a god given right", "what about Millwall fans", etc. are such silly arguments.

Yes, because Ole himself said he didn't want to play him in the quote I brought, which means it wasn't recommended at all for Rashford to play this match. Otherwise, any other explanation for this phrase from the quote ?

I wonder why these decisions are left to the manager at all.

He doesn't have to make Martial or James 'goal machines', what he would do is come in and improve our style of play, make us more cohesive and actually show signs of progression, as he's already proven in his career.

Also you'd be hard done finding United fans who are 'use to us winning' anymore. We've been shite for approaching a decade now, bandwagon fans would have got off a long time ago. To conclude - your point about a league 1 or 2 side is ridiculous, fact of the matter is, we don't support a league 1 or 2 team, so our expectations are clearly going to be different. In fact, I don't hear anyone really suggesting we should be winning trophies, people have curbed their expectations. People are asking for improvement in style of play, an identifiable identity on the pitch etc. after 13 months of management though, which we are yet to see.

But everyone would have complained about that, being a team manager means making decisions that aren’t popular. Being a united manager of a shite team means whatever he does he’s fecked.
If he has told us why he was rested, nobody would have said a thing. Ole is getting too good at hiding information.

He did not. That s why we were caught in the second goal. All our players were in their half.
If he was happy with 1-0 we could have parked the bus till the 90 min

Nothing to do with the crap squad and the board that refuses to improve it. Pep and Klopp have signed over 30 senior players between them.

Ole is somehow expected to turn Pereira into De Bruyne though.

Ole took a risk with Rashford, it backfired and he takes the blame. That’s his job to make those kind of decisions, he didn’t have guts to rest Rashford even though could have won game without him.

We’ve got a manager who has no competence at this level and no ability to manager a club of this stature. He’s out of his depth, hoping he somehow learns seems optimistic at best.

Poch wouldn't be so daft as to let Lukaku Sanchez and Fellaini go without actually doing some adequate business to bring replacements in.

It's not just a matter of coaching (of which Ole evidently does little of in the first place), but also showing initiative to get targets in. In our current structure, Ole apparently has final say of what happens for transfers. Clearly he was fine with the summer business which was an absolute farce and rest assured that wouldn't happen under a competent manager, Poch included.

He's happy to just sit on his arse and hope for the best in the transfer window. For all his faults at least Jose had the balls to publicly challenge Woody for the shitc**t he is. That's what we need for the club to change, not some yes man who keeps saying bizzare things like "yeah Rashy is injured for months but we have other players chomping at the bit". Yeah, like feck we do. Or "yeah we lost players in the summer window but we have enough quality in the squad". Yeah, like feck we do.

Well check how Liverpool spent Suarez money before Klopp came and I bet no one at this time thought their board was that great either.

You are delusional, if you think any of this is on Ole. He wouldn't be starting Lingard, Pereira or Mata, if Woodward was actually capable of giving him the players that he needs. It's the same for replacements. I'm certain Ole wouldn't have wanted to go into the season without a replacement for Herrera or another attacking midfielder. Just like Mourinho wasn't happy with just Fred. Both simply have different ideas, how to deal with the ineptitude above them. He also wouldn't play Rashford or McTominay into the ground, if he had more players. I'm with you on Maguire though, I thought we massively overpaid then and I still think so.
Before the season starts any professional CEO has a in depth analyze about the best way going forward with his manager. Making a professional consequence analyze about worst and best case scenarios is standard at C-level discussions and any decent football man (or women) could told Ole/Ed that starting a season with only two quality forwards in the squad is plain stupidity. The same regarding our midfield options.

All of us with a some sort of realism on Olecafe knew that Periera isn’t good enough to be a starter. Matic and Mata has lost their legs. Losing Herrera would interrupt our midfield balance.

So when Ole starts the season saying he’s satisfied with his squad he‘s either lying or plain stupid. Take your pick.

Fast forward six months and the shit has hit the fan. Surprise. Our two best players are long term injured. Pogba wants out. Periera, Lingard and James are clearly not good enough the be starters. Lindelöf is a liability. Maguire looks more worth 40-50 mill then 80 fkng millions that we paid.

Why is that in your opinion. Bad luck or incompetence?

Ah yes cause he’s such a successful manager also. If you want to sack Ole at least have a better option than someone who has done next to nothing in English football, European football or world football come to that.
Poch is a much more accomplished manager than Ole

The only time i've ever heard a United manager admit he's unsatisfied with his squad at the start of the season, was Jose's final season.

Maybe, but they need world class coaching, which they are getting. We have a manager who was a great player for us, but his managerial standard is the Norwegian League, a novice coach, a coach who is used to coaching kids and a coach who has not been relevant since SAF retired.

Where's the proof in that? There was no well documented source that said Ole really wanted x for right wing, or y for midfield or z for a striker and it was veto'ed or too expensive.

Ole himself came out in pressers to say he was very happy with the talent he has. Which yes, any manager should say to keep cards close to chest, but its clear he was fine with it. If he wasn't do you really think he'd sell Lukaku and Sanchez all while knowing he hasn't been assured of the replacements? In which case he's even more out of his depth than we thought.

Liverpool spent big in Van Dijk and Alisson only using money they had made from the Coutinho deal. The rest of their transfers have been in the £30-£50m price range. We could have signed all the players they have. The big difference is he knows how he wants to play football and can coach a team.

He was at that moment in time. I like you am worried about the short term fixes, does he mean loans or now he has all these players back from injury, he is going to play them out of position to cover for their teammates. I still think he has written this season off and is wanting the likes of Maddison, Grealish, Rice and Sancho in the summer. Leicester will take us to the cleaners like they did for Maguire, Grealish is possible, Rice I am really not sure about and why would Sancho come here.
Agreed. Leicester will want alot more for Maddison than Sporting will for Bruno, and most likely so will Villa. If we haggle with both of those clubs like we are doing at the moment with Sporting than we won't sign either.

Rice I don't want at all. He would end up an overpriced Schneiderlin if he signed here. I also worry about our 70m net spend. We will sell Pogba but you won't get alot else with 70m.

He was. This is why he refused DeGea to go to the corner. David may have caused some problems or not is moot. He may have like in the CL final. But the fact that Ole refused to let him go proves the fact that he was happy with the 1-0 loss.

Barring set pieces I don't see a problem with his coaching. Tactics are usually good. Individual players like Fred, Rashford, Martial have improved.

Pereira will not become a De Bruyne or a Maddison through coaching. Doesn't work that way.
