Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Has everybody forgot about the briefings in the summer as the window was closing? How we tried to get a midfielder but ran out of time and would instead start working towards doing business in January.

Woodward is shameless. Through his briefings he is bare faced lying to the supporters, treating them like idiots that are just a nuisance to his life on board the gravy train that is Manchester United.

Have some dignity and don't lap up everything you are being fed through an ever increasing pool of journalists that are pushing his message.

Wow. 152 pages of Bruno is 10days.

If he does come, the expectations will be so high, there is no way anyone can match it.

Im not sure. After seeing Lingard, Mata and Pereira play for years the bar to be seen as a 'succes' and meeting expectations for that position isnt very high.

Im not expecting just a slight upgrade over Lingard/Pereira/Mata but i am also not expecting Messi. There is quite some space inbetween that. 70/80m might sound like a lot of money but that is what a good, not worldclass, midfielder will likely cost Manchester United these days.

So if he joins i expect a good midfielder... not someone to change the team into a title winning team or win games by himself for example

Lets hope he is afforded some breathing room to settle when he gets in. A few good moments of magic every now & then. But really kick on only after the summer.... but feck, he won't have the whole summer either, just two weeks max. Euros.

Exactly. The fact that people seem to believe Woodward that transfer negotiations can only be done during the transfer window is fecking ridiculous.

He has done the same shit for years and people still lap his bullshit up.

98% of it people ranting about Woodward. I’m no fan of the man, but most of the ranting belies any actual factual basis or knowledge of how business is conducted. I appreciate erudite posts in subjects about which we can reasonably analyse, like strategic intent, but ramblings over operational details without any insight to them....it’s just the emotional knee jerkism that is pervasive in the forum these days.

Does everybody here rate Fernandes higher than Grealish and Maddison?

I sincerely hope he isn't merely 'good'. No single player can turn this team into a title winning team. But if we're spending big on an AM we need it to be someone who soon becomes one of the league's top performers in that role. We need to not be blinded by the standards set by the likes of Lingard and Periera.

Hard to tell. Bruno seems to have more star qualities to him, but he is in a very different league. He could blossom and become world-class, or be another Mkhitarian case, or anything in-between. With Grealish and Maddison we can see what they can do in EPL and it seems to be their peak, which is: way above Pereira but I would be shocked if they ever became world-class.

Agreed. With all the injuries we have now we badly need a new player this window, but no point in going out and buying a player who is merely good as you put it. The step up from Portugal to the EPL is pretty damn big. A slight upgrade on those two is still not good enough

Of course it might turn out Bruno is fantastic, but at the prices that are being quoted its a huge risk and if he fails to deliver we would have wasted a lot of money

Certainly hope he is better. We should have a better AM than Villa and Leicester City.

Maddison will cost north of 100m, make no mistake.

Bet my house that Ed will try bidding 80m, knowing that it's illogical bid and won't be accepted.

This, it's a shame that people will choose to believe the B.S instead of looking at past evidence and concluding for themselves. Chances are we will walk away from this deal, that is if we are even talking to them and then pay up the €80m out of desperation in the summer but not sign anybody else. The Glazers are now squeezing the club and Ole is happy to be their smiling shield so it's up to the fans to ratchet up the pressure on Woodward otherwise we will continue spiralling into decline.

I am pretty sure this won't happen. Just when you think our board can't get any worse, they prove you wrong. This will be another chapter in that magnificent book.

Well if he's better we should spend the extra a 30/40 it would take.

I don't understand why people keep repeating "just being better than Lingard and Pereira isn't enough". He is huge improvement on them and also Bruno won't be the only player we will sign. We need good squad, for that we need to collect good quality players. If we find player better than Bruno in future then we can sign him, it's always good to have competition and options.

That's how many club will operate. We desperately need attacking mid and Bruno Fernandes is very good one.

Woodward and Ole would get absolutely slaughtered by fans both on and off the pitch if they can't get this over the line. This is important as much as for them to save their own skin rather than the clubs.

For once I would agree with Ed that Maddison isn't worth anything close to £100M. Maybe not even 80. But then he should not even be on our radar, if that is what he is priced at.

The more important question is: why the hell do we have any scouts at United, let alone the largest scouting team in PL? We never sign anybody who isn't obvious and already hugely overpriced. The only times, in recent years, that I can even remember us signing somebody relatively unknown was James (personal recommendation from Gigsy so nothing to do with scouts) and Diogo Dalot who is a complete and utter dud. He had only 6 games with Porto's senior team so I have no idea who saw what in him or why they thought he could play senior team at United, even before breaking into Porto's senior team, but clearly none of it worked at all.

I'd rather not be bent over by Leicester again, and if last two summers are an indication then we are tightening the purestrings and blowing the a majority of the budget on Maddison would not be smart when you consider that we need 5-6 new players in the next two windows.

Maddison is good but nowhere near such a fee, Fernandes in that 50-60m range could prove better business if he adapts to the PL. That said I don't want to spend much more for him than that.

They both have thick skin and don't care the least. Ole already declared 8th position finishing would be acceptable, and Matt Judge, the guy who actually approves and signs the deals, said he's fine if we don't sign anybody – as a matter of fact, he said our targets are only for the Summer and we'd only sign if we got a good deal earlier. So… All these reports of imminent signings are very likely just media frenzy and fans being heartbroken at how paper thin our squad is.

Assuming one marquee signing around the 100mill plus range, who would people prefer... Maddison or Sancho? I think signing Fernandes possibly negates a Maddison bid.

We are signing no one
Again, you get use to it being a utd fan. Our squad was thin enough but we have just sold a utility player in Ashley young so our squad is now even thinner! You can't make it up! And now there's talk about loan signings, what type of big club runs it's self like this ?

Maddison and Sancho are impossible signings during January, it won't happen
