We don't have to watch Lingard and Preirera play number 10 anymore? Really? I feel emotional. My eyes have suffered for long enough.

We have a great track record with Sporting players anyway. Hopefully this guy hits the ground running as we are in desperate need of something to salvage this season. If he does take time to adapt, which is more likely, it is not on him however.

Can we please fix the title of this thread? Sporting is not and has never been “Sporting Lisbon” Lisbon is not even in our name....... can we at least get the name of the club right please?

Sporting Clube De Portugal OR Sporting CP OR just Sporting.

We are not “Sporting Lisbon”.
How long have you supported Sporting Lisbon?

Would like to see him in the same side as Pogba.

--------------DDG--------------
AWB Lind Maguire Williams
--------McTom Pogba-----------
Martial----Fernandes----Greenwood
--------------Rashy----------------

Is one way of lining up if and when everyones fit (start of next year perhaps if Pogba is not leaving for certain?)

Our best player since Moutinho, the most we've ever been dependant on a single player. Very sad about this but it was time for him to go, treat him well guys.

You never know how things turn out for a player but I can assure you in terms of mentality and attitude he'll give everything he has and more.

The club would be extatic if it comes to that and they have to pay up.
Club won’t be happy when other clubs get smart and start putting in 5-6th payment clauses

He seems to score a lot. Can he do a job up front if needed or is he strictly an attacking mid?

I'm not going to get too excited. Countless players have arrived since Moyes left (yet apparently we never spend any money) and nine times out of ten they have flopped. Some of them may not have been good enough, some may not have really cared, some perhaps were not coached correctly.

While I wish him the best at this club (obviously) this will not lift my spirits a great deal. Having said that, Ole's signings, pound for pound have been better than both LVG's and Mourinho's, so I will be cautiously optimistic about Bruno Fernandes.

Most outside of Portugal do for some reason and it is a pet peeve among all Sporting fans as they all hate it.

I usually just say Sporting.
Would it be equal to someone referring to Manchester United as the United club of Manchester?

Guessing at best he'll be a sub this weekend against Wolves, but then probably start against Chelsea on the 17th. Good timing for the 2 week break. Especially if we get Pogba and McTominay back. Until Rashford is back, I'd go:
De Gea
Awb Lindelof Maguire Shaw
Fred
Mctominay Pogba
B. Fernandes
Greenwood Martial

James rotating in for Greenwood, Bruno drifting right, Pogba pushing up, Martial/Greenwood drifting wide, etc.

A signing that we probably should have made last summer, but glad we have got it sorted as we desperately needed a midfielder.

Im sure he comes in as a 10 for us as that is a major weakness in our team, but going forwards I hope to see him also play as an 8.

Best of luck to the lad, he’ll need it here! Hope to see him involved against Wolves.

I am so happy for him but sad at the same time. Happy because he deserved this move but sad because he left Sporting. He is the third best Portuguese player at the moment after CR7 and Silva and I hope he shows all his quality at United. I can’t wait to see his debut and I hope to see him show all his quality at United! Looks like I will be ordering a new United jersey soon so I have both his Sporting and United Jerseys.
That's probably true but might be deceiving as to his quality given he's not really close to those two but there are a bunch of other portuguese players who are just about on the same level.

Good question. We literally don’t have Lisbon in our name so I don’t know why it is used. Every Sporting fan for the most part hates that people outside of Portugal say that.
To add to this, while Porto, Vitoria and Braga are more regional clubs with a strong connection to the city, Sporting fans and the club itself are more spread out across the country as are Benfica fans. That's the main reason Sporting fans dislike getting called Sporting Lisbon by international media, other than the fact it's simply not what the club is called.

I guess but even then United and Manchester is in the name.

As an example it would be if I called arsenal “Arsenal London” or Chelsea “Chelsea London” or “Liverpool Merseyside”

Can’t wait for him to have a couple of bad matches, be replaced by Mata/Lingaard, get sold to Valencia and have a great career in Spain.
