Someone that isn't trash and who has been playing proper football for the last 3 years? Out of all the players we have been linked with for the striker role he's by far the worst option as he's been out there for way too long and was never that good to begin with.
Quoted for future shaming.

He's not going to make any difference and will just take minutes from youngsters while doing feck all so yeah I prefer nothing if this is the option available.
This post is really easy to bet against.

I mean surely there's a middle ground somewhere between Lionel Messi and Odion Ighalo?
Is deadline day on on January 31st. There's literally no club willing to part with anyone world class. We're lucky we've managed to land a loan deal for someone who's played in the PL before and looked decent at it.

Will do well imo.
Watched quite a lot of him at Watford when he was there. Not sure about his pace nowadays but it will be like night and day having a proper striker in the box especially with service from Bruno.

Back ups usually don't come from top teams. He's a premier league striker, so him backing up Martial is useful for us. Where we have struggled the most this season is in terms of our depth. Greenwood is not ready to back up Martial and Martial himself may not be the best option to lead the line. Signing a player like Ighalo would allow us to have another source of goals within the team. It's something we really don't have.

The last season I can remember over here his first part up until Christmas was fantastic wasn't it? Fell away after that but he's got a goal in him.
Arguably improved since then. Had a great couple of years with Nigeria, which is a better sign than his China form. Was top scorer in AFCON qualifiers and then the main finals. There’s a lot of decent African players who can’t match his goals.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a certainly unfashionable and underwhelming signing, but there’s reasons for some optimism. It’s 90% about attitude; a motivated Ighalo > half-arsed Lukaku.

I might even go as far as saying Woody did decent here, considering Jose and Lampard had been badgering their boards for any warm body and they couldn't get anything.

Tbh I can't remember watching him, I know nothing about him. But he can at least find the net.

If something happens to Martial or he needs rest, he's better than literally no body at all.

A 6 month loan is harmless in an emergency.

Possible panic loan on deadline for 30 years old player with huge salary who played second divison in China last year. :-)

I think we can stop talking about 3 years plan or any conception. This is just beyond desperate and I cant stop laughing.
He never played in the second division, changed clubs when Changchun were relegated.

We need a striker, Rashford's injury has forced a desperate need for a striker.

It's not ideal but I like that we brought someone in.

Hopefully he won't be needed too much.
what scares me is that we are the club that gave a novice the managers job based off 12 games after stating we wouldn't appoint anyone until the end of the season. If he scores a few goals this board will buy the fecker instead of getting real quality in.

He was 34 years old and playing for Helsinborg in Sweden. It was more desperate than this loan in my opinion but people love to be hysterical around here.
Larson was also shit for us. One of the biggest myths ever that he was great for us (on the pitch at least)

I hope those who are defending this signing will stay firm on their stance few months later in his own performance thread.

Loaning Ighalo makes sense considering the circumstances. Circumstances being that there's two hours left of the window and we don't have an out-and-out striker. The problem is how we got here in the first place. Did Deadline Day sneak up on the board by surprise? It comes after January 30th every fecking year. It was fully possible to plan ahead instead of ending up in this situation. No matter how Ighalo performs Woodward has gone from getting a good deal on Fernandes to again looking like the rank amateur we know him to be.

As a Striker option? 100% yes. Of course he'd be better then Lingard.

He has literally scored goals in this league before. He also scores regularly f for his country.
That was years ago, you don't get better playing in a trash league like he has done for 3 years, and scoring for his country doesn't mean much. The PL is a monster and it eats up players that have been in slacker leagues, it even makes it hard for actual quality players from good leagues, Higuain for instance is twice the striker this guy is and he struggled here.

Quoted for future shaming.
Good for you kid, I'll be sure to flip that when the kool aid chokes you.

He's better than nobody, and he's a real striker. A loan and not wasting 40 million on a panic buy is good business for once. Why are we all moaning?
