Yep indeed but tbh I was so young at the time that didn’t really come into it. I had lots of Utd supporting friends and they rightfully gave me some stick. They were so relieved after losing the previous year. Saw Tommy Doc on tv recently, hard to believe he’s still alive. He had you playing great football at the time. It’s either going to be a master stroke or a catastrophe. My money is on the latter unfortunately. This evening my cousin was with a friend when he got a text from another friend who had just been diagnosed. Won’t be long before we all know someone whose been diagnosed and/or died.

The two biggest sports in north america at the moment- The NBA and the NHL- reaching pivotal stages of their seasons, decided to postpone until further notice. The attendance average across the league is around 18000 and 17500 respectively. The average attendance in the premier league is more than twice that, at around 38000.
Not that weird. These countries experienced SARS and MERS and have learnt to deal with these kind of outbreak.
Surprised at people being surprised. Once Boris stated earlier that things would go on as normal outside of football. Pl fixtures were bound to be allowed to go ahead (PL were obviously waiting on the decision). If people are gonna continue to be allowed to go to school, work, shopping etc and use public transport, why would they then say the football is off. No point picking and choosing. I do wonder what all the players think of this. I think majority of fans will brave it and go, which is their choice, although I still think they’ll be a lot of empty seats around.

There’s still 36 hours to go before the proposed kick offs. So much can happen in that time, so I’ll take it with a grain of salt that these matches are still going ahead.

If the games go ahead this weekend in front of packed stadiums it's an absolutely staggering decision and one I'm sure that will be looked back on in years to come as an incredibly stupid and dangerous decision.

I really dont see how it is pointless to stop a gathering of 70.000 + 50.000 + 30.000 + 40.000 + 55.000 + 25.000 + 35.000 + etc et etc. I believe scientists will claim that this is not a good idea neither.
Its about not making the Virus spread fast so all the cases dont happen at once, and surely gatherings of numbers like that contributes to that, as scientist/experts say. Anything that contributes to a breakdown of the hospital sector is bad really. Its like the governments have forgotten how to actually lead and make tough decisions in fear of being on the wrong side of a popularity-contest.
Let's see what the end game will be like in some months when it (hopefully) has peaked. I guess there's plenty of approaches on both sides of the spectre that can be compared in death percentages when it's all over.
In Denmark we have had a rapid rise in contaminated people, the fastest actually, but I fear that it's mostly because we actually keep count of infections and keep transparency about how many are contaminated - not completely convinced about China being in an orange state neither.
Edit: Saw a documentary last night about how the chinese government freakin had squads who silenced reporters who shared videos of people getting their doors bolted, so they couldnt get out and videos of people and doctors in panic due to lack of oxygen / help. They also dragged people out of their homes. Maybe because they simply had to, but the situation of silencing the matter is scary as feck too. Right now Boris Johnson is pretty much holding his fingers in his ears, signing la-la-la, pretending he's in the Bahamas

Well this is feckin dumb. It seems we'd rather wait until it's too late before we act, instead of actually trying to prevent anything. Profits > people. Of course, all those profits will soon disappear when we absolutely collapse the NHS and face a widespread outbreak with businesses having to close and millions staying at home.

Agree with ROFLUTION and great post. I am so glad that the Danish Prime Minister has shown her ability to act and put people above money. She has closed almost the entire public sector. The population is encouraged not to meet more than 100 people in one place. So 25000 or 75000 at a stadium is a huge risk
