It may be better suited for another thread and certainly isn't the most important factor here, but it is hard to imagine that transfer fees will be as anywhere near as high in the coming windows.
Then there is the matter of salaries, in particular for lower leave clubs that will struggle badly the longer this goes on.
Non League still going ahead.....

The latest from the NPL following the COVID-19 outbreak.
The NPL together will all other Alliance leagues and representatives of Step 5-6 leagues met with the FA executive on Wednesday March 11.
At this point there are no plans to cancel, postpone or to play games behind closed doors.
Although the situation remains fluid and government guidance could change at any point, all games at Steps 1-4 will go ahead as planned unless external forces dictate otherwise.

There is a science behind it, but its usually takes a few seasonal bouts of it to actually be effective, and of course a lot of people will die.
And a lot of people will go to hospital, straining the health services! That is unavoidable if you give up even trying to contain the virus.

Either null the season or take the current standings. They are the only 2 options left now. No way anything will re-commence for a few months

A better idea would be to combine this season and the next. Continue playing in August. Same points as they are currently which gives Liverpool the advantage they deserve plus all lower leagues do the same. Suspend the CL and EL for the season or finish off the remainder of the games from August till next may. All leagues across the world may have to agree though.

With Liverpool, they have hit a losing streak, you never know if the first two thirds of the season are really catching up on them, how the CL exit can affect them and big injuries to key players that might've accrued next week or the week after. City after faltering could easily go on a 10 game winning run to get 87 points and beat them on GD.

Liverpool could draw 5 and lose 4 and end up on 87 points with their 9 games left. Teams can collapse, anxiety creeps in, people slip up. ;)

Resuming in June is also not right as Liverpool's fitness and mental fatigue is reset and could see them easily win most of the games, it would be like restarting. You have to win over the course of a season with all the ups and downs. Spurs were flying high once in recent years and fell away in the last 10 games. Having a restart/break could see Spurs winning the title, it's an unfair helping hand and not what a season is.

Like Judas is saying, all the positions need to be accounted for, Liverpool's results affect all the standings.

Might be best to void it, would suck for United as we're having a strong finish and new and young players really playing well, could've got 4th or won the EL but you can't give us 4th now or to anyone really, every team could say if we just play a few more games we'd be further up.

Maybe because I am old enough to actually remember what it was like to go close to 30 years without winning the League ? As for the bottom - they have had 29 matches to do better - they didn't. I have zero sympathy for them only picking up 27 points
Such a weird position to take.

If you’re old enough to remember that then surely you remember them rubbing it in our faces at every opportunity! feck them. Zero sympathy

I'm a man utd fan. I just think it's a really sad way to get one over, cancel the competition a few games before the end when they were clearly gonna win, then boasting we have more titles than them. Seems like a bit of a hollow boast to be honest.

Well Liverpool should have done better. If they had beat us and Watford they would have been mathematical champions now.

It doesn't matter anyhow, as others have said the league can't be official until all positions are finalised. Not just 1st place.

I’d love the Euros to still happen as it’s such a great tournament, so to fit it maybe they could do a mini play off for champions league spots & relegation.. or do what Germany is doing and have no relegation this year & 6 teams relegated next year

Not being funny, but how would you know? The end of the season isn't exactly a vague term,, 99/100 it's fixed, only in these extreme situations would that even be in doubt
Because I’ve seen more premier league/football league contracts than I can count.

Because of all the people travelling. Also it will be easier to move the Euros a year than the chaos not finishing seasons will cause.
This is it. The possibility that large scale events will be back by then is there but there PL fixtures will have to run into June now. The Euros are impossible.

Because it involves multiple countries with hundreds of thousands of people moving around Europe? There is no guarantee that this virus will die out before then
Play that behind closed doors then, like they're talking about re the EPL (if possible in the summer). No traveling then. Why should the PL take precedence over an international tournament. Besides, Wales don't qualify for many of them!

Yeah that is probably it. Just because I think a team that lead the table by 25 Points with 9 matches to play deserve to win the League - I must support them.
They’ve lost 4 or 5 in their last 6 games. What kind of mystic meg are you to know they will start winning again? I’d rather predict that they wouldn’t win again so clearly haven’t amassed enough points to be declared champions.

It’s so simple I’m amazed united fans seem to be disappointed in liverpoools behalf just to look the bigger man.

It’s catastrophic news for the entire world and not a laughing matter, but on a football related matter, it’s absolutely hilarious the fortnight Liverpool fans have had with this topping it off after all their blistering best team ever nonsense

Well you guys should read this I think:

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2020/02/here-is-what-coronavirus-does-to-the-body/

I'm Vietnamese and we have been fighting this from the very start. You can use google translate to read this as well:
https://news.zing.vn/hinh-anh-phoi-cua-benh-nhan-bi-virus-corona-pha-huy-post1053172.html
https://dantri.com.vn/suc-khoe/viru...tren-co-the-nhu-the-nao-20200217135407112.htm

As this virus attacks mainly the infected's lungs, even if you got recovered from the virus your lungs already got damaged by then and it'd take time to health them back. That why I said most of the patients who recovered still have some lung damage with them.

Imo this lung damage seems pretty similar with one caused by smoking. Of course it can be fully recovered over time, like when you stop smoking but usually this process would take years until your lungs get back to top conditions, if it would. And for a professional footballer or athlete, their careers should be dead by then I think.

Of course I'm no doctor so please correct me if I'm wrong.

P/S: I forgot one thing that only around 20 % of those got infected would have serious lung damages. That's why I said "sometime very seriously". Only in such cases that your lungs would take years to fully recover I think. Sorry if my post caused any misunderstanding that all would.
Your post is deeply inaccurate
I wouldn’t trust any single one of them as far as I could throw the whole lot of them at once.

All they care about is the economic impact.
Nonsense and they are far better informed than anyone on this forum.

What is football without fans? Football is for the fans. Then psg game the other night and our game last night were so drab.

I hate this behind closed doors idea. It seems it’s just purely for money reasons and feck the fans

Also no guarantee it won’t. They should hold off for a bit
I'm sure people who are planning to travel to matches would like a good deal of notice, so would the third party contractors who will be providing services to one of the largest sporting events in the world.

The virus is estimated to peak at the beginning of June in the UK. Euro's won't be on mate.

In my opinion, restart the season in September - end in November. Then have the next few seasons run March-November until Qatar. Run a special (one off) European super league in Feb-June 2023. Then back to August- May seasons that year.

Many people (such as myself) I assume have already bought flights/hotels. So wouldn’t do any harm waiting a month to see how it looks

feck that idea. How can you continue a league a year later when most of the clubs will have different players than when they started the season. Nah

Hopeful, and ignoring the expert estimates, but I suppose there's no real harm in waiting.

If they have to cancel the season, we should get the premier league trophy.
We’ve won it the most times, so we have the most experience looking after it. ;)
