Baby formula and nappies in my area completely sold out. Bare essentials for little babies and I imagine some King of Cnuts, or Cnut Overlord, or General Feck Head, or Cnuty McCnuterson, or whoever, is trying to sell them all on eBay right now.

People are wankers. Knackered wifey with two newborn bairns stood there gasping because there were no baby wipes. Had some in my boot that I keep as back up so she got those plus an unopened jumbo pack of newborn nappies that I forgot were in there. Only a four pack of wipes but hopefully that keeps her going for a week or so.

The moral of the story is that everyone's a cnut except me because I'm amazing.

For people with infants the uncertainty ahead must be unbearable.

Fair enough, what do you think of it? It's the sort of visual logic non-sense you see in propaganda. "This is an apple that's a boy. This is an orange, thats a girl. These two things are not the same. Get it? Here is a nasty rotten banana, this represents transgenders"
It actually helped me visualise what's supposedly going on but I havnt studied all this in as much detail as the rest of you so my opinion counts for little.

Avoid non essential travel & contact with others.
Work from home if you can but oh Schools are open.
Bit contradictory there.
I guess in terms of child care, one teacher handles 30 kids, whereas no childminder gets anywhere near that. Getting them out of the home reduces need for elderly to be with them.

Let’s be honest, thousands, if not millions, of kids will be isolating in homes for 14 days at a time soon anyway, as the virus ramps up.

Gotta trust the modelling of people in the most senior and highly qualified positions. We can all pick holes in their logic, but nobody knows the best solution until hindsight and evaluation.

Mentioned on a GP forum that this will decimate the medical workforce unless they bring some nuance into it. Interesting that I can be in contact with a confirmed COVID case at work and carry on working if asymptomatic but if my one year old daughter has a fever with via an ear infection or something I would need two weeks off work

A lockdown in the UK is going to be a huge battle to enforce. This is what the mathematicians don't get.
You seem to think the UK is some special place, where people are just 'different'. All countries have idiots like this, Ireland had shit loads of them out in pubs drinking from each other's pints the other night. All it takes is for a few of them to be arrested in a town for breaking government instructions and they will soon fall in line.

Amazon spain have both. Maybe not the brand you want, but I don't mind ordering them and getting them delivered to you? You can also use amazon.es from the UK if you'd prefer to do it yourself?

Formula infantil and panales.

I'm not sure if anything optimises this government more than them officially advising that we no longer visit pubs and restaurants while also shying away from closing pubs and restaurants because they'd have to put something in place to help these places survive.

Obviously not the Tories fault if they have to close their doors for good due to lack of trade.
Cynical, but you might be right. It was frustrating not to hear about similar measures to Denmark and Sweden, but even what those two countries offered was only a starting point.

Had two retards on Snapchat doing that Saturday night, both live with (and are) extremely high risk people.

Just saw another person with a video up laughing at someone for wearing gloves at work on a computer. fecking cnuts, the whole fecking lot. Hope the virus takes them out so they can't spread it. World's gonna be a shitshow for years with this and the impending recession

Aw mate, I'm fine. I bought 200 packs of nappies at the weekend across four supermarkets so I'm all good. Nabbed all the soap and toilet paper as well.

Nah... Seriously mate thanks for the offer but we're personally alright. We don't use formula and already have nappies as he's transitioning to pull ups, it was just noticeable as I was in that aisle buying rice pudding for the wee one. Got to watch out for new parents though as they'll be fecked by this.

Which can be dangerous. I'm certainly no expert, but I'm worried If people base their opinion on that video, and then use that opinion as an assurance to feel ok, but while doing so fail to sufficiently protect their closest family and friends. A lot of people are going to die, these numbers are actual people not just numbers so people need to take personal responsibility. If a person use that video as a reason to expose themselves to a virus and then inevitable infect their sick child, friends or parents, grandparents to the point they die, that is a horrible, horrible thing.

Ireland will have a tough time, too (although not quite as bad, since its urban population is not as big - 63% versus 83% of the total).

In any case, I'm making a contrast between the UK and the likes of Singapore or South Korea.

But even beyond that, I'd argue that Britain has more idiots than almost any other country. Just ask the residents at any tourist hotspot. They'll happily tell you which nation gives them the cuntiest visitors. Everyone loves the Irish by comparison.

No worries, but it's worth bearing in mind that (at the moment at least) you can use any Amazon site for delivery to the UK. As for the two hundred nappies, hoarding cnut.

Seriously though, take care.

Despite the severe failings exposed by Exercise Cygnus, the government’s planning for a future pandemic did not change after December 2016 – at least not formally. The government’s roadmap for how to respond to a coronavirus-like pandemic has long been available online, and the three key documents – the 70-page “Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Strategy”, 78-page “Health and Social Care Influenza Pandemic Preparedness and Response” and 88-page “Pandemic Influenza Response Plan” – were published in 2011, 2012 and 2014 respectively. These plans were tested and failed, yet these documents were not rewritten or revised.

They share a glaring shortcoming: not one of them mentions ventilators, which are now in such high demand that Matthew Hancock, the Health Secretary, told British manufacturers on 14 March, “If you produce a ventilator, we will buy it. No number [you produce] is too high.” He urged firms from Rolls-Royce to JCB to stop what they do and to begin making ventilators.

The government does not have a stockpile of ventilators, as the documents made clear and Hancock has confirmed. All three of the plans refer to stockpiles, but only of antivirals, antibiotics and personal protective equipment for NHS staff. Aside from face masks, the only mention of equipment in Public Health England’s Pandemic Response Plan is to do with IT staff being trained to use smart boards. Medical devices are not mentioned in any of the documents.

I’m going to hit up both local Aldis first thing tomorrow for nappies, as we’ve got none and a baby possibly arriving any day!

Why was he tested if he had no symptoms?

Makes you wonder how many in the UK actually have been infected/are currently infected without knowing.

I know I've had a dry cough the past few days (not overly continuous - coughing every 30 minutes or so), and I rarely have a cough. I had the flu for 3 days 2 weeks ago, and a cold for a few days the week before.

I'm not saying I've had it, but just after Christmas I went to Portugal and there was an very contagious and pretty heavy bout of 'something' floating around the general backpacker scene. I had it twice, in the space of about 6-7 days, the first time it took around 2days to fade, the second time I was still feeling rough back home (so in total, it probably lasted about 7days). The symptoms were a dry, repetitive cough; a sore throat; a mild temperature/aches. The weird part was that it was NEVER all three at once - it seemed to go from one symptom to the other, then back to symptom 1 again. Then it just faded out.

My parents both had it mildly, too. Whenever I have flu-like symptoms, they are completely gone within a few days whereas this seemed much stronger.
I think we may have well had it already in Europe when China discovered first cases. All it takes is one person getting it and transferring to someone who then travels to Europe.
I had the worst flu I've ever had in December too. Lasted from 18 Dec - 27 Dec. It was crazy because I'd just completed a 4 week powerlifting strength gain cycle in gym, and PR'd in all my lifts, so theoretically was the strongest Ive ever been. And yet during this flu, I could barely go for a 10 min walk before feeling exhausted.

Started with a dry cough, quickly became like I had glass in my throat and I was dreading each time I coughed. Lasted 3 days. Then came a crazy fever and the deep flu sleep that comes with that. That lasted 3 days. Then I had these crazy intense abdominal pains, like I'd been punched just below the rib cage. Half way through this saga, I felt vaguely suicidal for 3 days, especially at sleep time, when I was questioning the purpose of life itself.

My Mum also had it a few days before me, I almost certainly contracted it from her. She had very similar symptoms but not quite as bad and recovered more quickly. Neither of us went to the doctor, we just assumed it was seasonal flu and toughed it out using OTC medicines.

The Convid19 symptoms sound exactly the same.
