Just void the cups/Europe. Its only the league that matters...
Why?

So all that from the media, fans and all saying clubs should take cups more seriously?

United have a chance to win a trophy and get to the CL via EL. How is that less important than Liverpool winning the league?

Lot of people on here thinking/hoping that this season could simply be scrapped & we'd all start again from new in August or September. There was zero to nil chance of that ever happening, because if this season was voided then it goes without saying that it would have been because this crisis would have become even more critical, which would have meant season 2020/21 would probably have had to been scrapped too. When you look at things from the perspective of football's governing bodies right across Europe, they really have no alternative but to give priority to completing this current season. As it stands nobody is to blame for this situation. It was totally unforeseen. However, picture this possible nightmare scenario from where the aforementioned big cheeses of football are sitting: This season gets null & voided, thus pissing off an awful lot of clubs, fans, etc who'd worked their way into a good position regarding success, promotion, European football etc. The new season starts with everyone on a level pegging. Then after 15 to 20 games into the new season Covid-19 makes a big return - as has been forecast by the experts - & it's so bad that once again the season is written off. Now these people who made the decision to bin off 2019/20 have nowhere to hide because they were fully aware of the risk that the virus could return. So now they're faced with an even angrier bunch of clubs, fans etc knowing the window was there all the time for the previous season to be completed. If this is repeated right across Europe then we'd be looking at a lot of busy lawyers, a lot of nervous footballing chiefs, & possibly an even greater appetite for a breakaway European league.
grasping at straws aren’t we!

whatever the result of this season is, as happens with every eventuality that we havwon’t see before - guidance, rules, legislation will be put into place to provide absolute clarity of the situation were to happen again.

you don’t need to worry yourself about what might happen in a theoretical scenerio you have concocted to support your argument

People are assuming the Players are just going to be on board with all of this. We have seen Wayne Rooney come out and say they are being treated like Guinea pigs.

They are going to have a huge say in all of this and I doubt its going to be as straightforward as them agreeing to squeeze a quarter of a Season into 4 weeks.

My gut Feeling is if they dont have it FULLY up and running by 1st June it will be null and void.

I had assumed his post was sarcasm - if it’s not then there really is no hope for these deluded ‘pool supporters.

From the BBC:

The Liverpool football anthem You'll Never Walk Alone was broadcast by 180 radio stations across Europe this morning, including Slovenia's Val 202.

It's a defiant message of solidarity, as millions are cooped up at home in the coronavirus crisis.

But the BBC's Balkans correspondent ,Guy De Launey, says Slovenia has just told people officially that they should walk alone if they go outside, to avoid spreading the virus.

This made me laugh!

Exactly. Player have families as well. Some may have COPD or immunity problems.

There are difficult questions to answer regardless of what happens. The financial ramifications if the league doesn't finish seem to be high based on reports in the media.

You make a valid point though. Someone is going to lose out big time in the above scenario. It seems incredibly harsh on Leicester considering it's less likely they manage a top four finish next season.
Leicester have been in a shit run anyway and are likely to be caught by Chelsea and Man Utd.
Liverpoool were also on a shit run and could have been caught by Man City.

It’s not harsh on anyone as nothing is mathematically settled. It all could have been lost anyway, we’ll never know now as having such a long break, players infected, teams in isolation has totally re shaped how the season would go ahead.

I'm grasping at straws ?!?! That's a good one. The desperation on here for the season to be voided has been almost tangible. Even funnier has been the literary contortionists who try to convince everyone that their reasons for wanting it voided has nothing to do with their loathing & antipathy towards the side that currently sit top of the league 25 points clear. & your other point is equally as ridiculous, because the relevant footballing authorities failings will be based purely on the previous season & how they could have used the suitable window to complete a season that's over three-quarters completed. It's not exactly rocket science.

Wrong way round sunshine. Celtic nicked it from us after the 1966 Cup Winners Cup semi-final match at Anfield. Even your fans sang a version of it back in the 70's. Thieving manc c*nts ;)
Usual Scouse revisionism. We sang it in the 50s.

Next you will be saying you lot didn't vote Tory up to the 70s.

You claimed that we nicked it from Celtic. Not like a United fan to be wrong on this thread.

The song was adopted by Scottish team Celtic after a 1966 Cup Winners Cup semi-final against Liverpool at Anfield, and is now sung by Celtic fans prior to every home European tie,[1][16][20] and later by Germany's Borussia Dortmund who Liverpool went on to play in the cup final.[1]

& you might have sung it in the 50's but it was only in the immediate aftermath of the Munich Disaster. In the 70's your fans, along with quite a few others, sung a version of it every week. Never as good as us though.

Policies to limit the spread of coronavirus would need to be in place for "at least most of a year" to prevent intensive care units being overwhelmed, according to official scientific advice to the government.

The documents, prepared by the UK's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), said alternating between more and less strict measures could "plausibly be effective at keeping the number of critical care cases within capacity".
People need to start getting their heads around and understanding statments such as this. This Season is done in all likelihood. And possibly the next one as well.

The laughter emoticon is back. All is right with the world.
You’re getting angry on a Man Utd forum because a global pandemic is potentially robbing your team of the chance to win the league after 30 long, hard years. Inject it into my veins.

50% of this country, myself included, will be unemployed by then. It won't be a recession it will be a 1930s depression.

Precisely. And People are squabbling over whether this Season should continue or not. In the not too distant future Football (and the resumption of it) will be a distant dot in the rear view Mirror of everyones worries if this isnt sorted out.

utterly insufferable.

a I’ve said previously - Man Utd have far more to gain that Liverpool if the league is restarted. The difference between being and not being in the CL is far more important and has a far bigger impact than winning the league. Again, as previously stated, we would all want the league to finish, if practical - but this looks increasingly unlikely.

the difference is the (by and large) Utd fans on here are far more aware of the implications of the virus on wider society and the technical difficulties in resuming a season after the scheduled finish date. Certainly compared to some deluded Liverpool fans who have recently signed up to a Man Utd forum in order to profess their perceived injustices. Cry me a river.

Imagine me coming on here claiming that in those years you won the league & we finished in a CL spot. @Feed Me would run out of laughter emoji's.

thank god. Please tell the other Liverpool fans as well.
but he's right because saying "Man Utd have far more to gain that Liverpool if the league is restarted" is just trolling and you know that.
Anyway no matter what the decision will be somebody is going to be screwed over and I'm not sure if voiding the season will be the most fair solution.

So, its fine to cancel the Euros, cancel the Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League, as long as we can play out the Premier League title procession!? Many clubs would just treat it as a pre-season, it would be a farce
