Really good news!
Depends if you actually watched the video and listened to what the healthy, 30 year old guy said - struggling intensely to breathe etc.
Also, this isn't a Flu virus.
Gives me some hope for Spain.
And what powers would they have? They don't have any. Visible deterrent maybe but they're pretty toothless and would need the police to arrest etc.
It's starting to plateau now in Italy. 2 consecutive days of lower deaths and fewer cases
Sure it is the same. Unless you get a bad dose of pneumonia and then realise you have no medical aid because there is no hospital space.
There will be a lot of people who will die from flu this year as well, since coronavirus patients are taking up all the hospital beds.
So bottom line is this: Stay healthy, don't get corona, don't get the flu, don't even have an infection because there is no guarantee you will get the medical help you need.

Any flu can give you pneumonia... And the symptoms are basically that of the flu. It's not terrifying. Describing the symptoms as terrifying is silly. The conversation was about nothing more than just that.

Italy, Spain and Irans death rate becomes even crazier if you compare theirs to the others. Seems down to a lot of testing in the other countries (even US).
I constantly have rhinitis, most of Covid19 symptoms are part of what I will experience around this time of the year. It makes me particularly anxious.

You are assuming that you will get a ventilator if you contract this virus (or flu for that matter) at peak and are unlucky enough to be affected severely. That is a bad assumption to make.
They don't have any powers of arrest and the bill doesn't give them any from what I've seen. The military won't be used in any role in that capacity. Far too oppressive. They are usually used as support staff so you could maybe go down that route. The logistics of putting police officers at every supermarket simply isn't possible though. Crime hasn't gone anywhere during all of this. There's still 999 calls and actually an increase in domestic related matters given isolation.

Sounds a lot like when I had the flu as a healthy 25 year old... Literally the only time in my adult life I went to see the doctor (who told me to go home and stop complaining).

I take that as a daily decrease of new cases at 14%. If they can keep that up, that would be some achievement but it still looks awfully grim. It'll have them at 80k cases by the 29th and 90k by the 8th of April. To get below 100 new cases per day (ala China) it will take until the 18th of April at the current rate.
You think it will? There's more chance it will increase. Empty premises = burglary. Potential for public disorder and looting/theft. Domestic abuse. Street violence due to issues with drug supply chain and borders closing. I could go on mate.
Come on man, it won't be difficult to bring in emergency legislation to give them power. They can use rubber bullets, water canons etc.

Dallas police will not do theft calls because some officers got the virus and Im guessing a lot of them are in quarantine, this is getting worse than I thought.
I'd like to think people will behave themselves and I hope they do but sadly I can see robbing/looting further down the line if things get worse. I think as long as the supply chain doesn't break then things should be relatively okay. If it does then the desperation will increase and so will crime.

Describing the chap in the video's experience as "terrifying" was silly, because it is basically the experience of anyone who's had a bad flu. That's all I said. I'm not talking about hospitals, I'm not talking about treatment.

As someone who has watched two loved ones die of pneumonia I will say that anything that can cause pneumonia is terrifying. COVID-19 is much more direct at infecting the lungs than the flu.
Whatever similarity there is, the prospect of contracting this virus should be terrifying for anyone and even more so should they be unlucky enough to contract it when there is a shortage of beds and equipment.
We're all going to get it.... Terrifying is a very strong word. It's killing very small numbers of old people, and I'm not old. There are far scarier things out there, and we don't worry about them on a daily basis... If you were older then sure, it's a scary time. Of course maybe the guy I initially quoted is over 70, or perhaps is worried about family...
But terrifying? Nah, I don't think it's right to let such drama go unchallenged.
