i guess all the broadcasting will have to shut down, because everyone will be self isolating
No, because obviously it is an essential service, but regardless, an ever increasing amount has been being done remotely anyway. It is 2020 and most of us have pretty incredible equipment in our houses and pockets.

Don't sign old players and cast offs
Dunno... I'm not short of cash... Would have to be some feck off mega tax to make me think twice

Suits me but I'm.not sure it's fair
I got my shopping today in a supermarket in the poorer part of town that I happened to be passing through. Plenty of stock available, I suspect because most of the people around there simply don't have the money to buy a load of extra stuff on top of what they usually get. Quite a sobering thought really.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
It's not a necessity that children have to exercise outside. Walking of dogs I agree with, though.
Have you ever had children...?

Seriously, many (all?) children NEED to exercise everyday. Even if they're just gonna have a run around.

I'm talking kids under 16 here.

Officially the best poker player on RAWK.
The point @11101 made about what happened in Italy is worth baring in mind. The UK has literally followed exactly the same path but slightly earlier. So Italy initially allowed work to that degree then moved to essential work only. My personal thoughts are we will move to that model and when the legislation is through we will see it.

I would be telling anyone who isn't an essential worker to start making plans without work as it's coming and it's better to be prepared than simply thinking it will all be okay only to be told you're not going in to work the next day.
Oh of course, let's be honest most of us knew this was coming weeks ago.

But one of the many issues in trying to prepare is the unknown in job security. If they pass this legislation through and still no help for self employed, renters or even more job protection for those who don't need laying off but have greedy bosses, I think keeping people indoors and not socialising sadly won't be the biggest problem you'll have to face.

Somebody told me that there is a billion pounds of extra food been brought in the last week... That's only £15 per person and I'm sure some have brought £150

So yeah I'm in a fortunate position and glad I am...

Would anyone know if you already have a cold, can you catch corona on top at the same time? Sorry if it's a silly question but myself and other family members have colds to various degrees and wondered if the body accepted multiple viruses etc.
Sadly you can, and what is worse it would be easier since your immune system would be weakened.

I think it's pretty clear :

"Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home."

That basically means if your employer thinks you can't work from home (yet).
thats exactly how I read it.

Ive has friends tell me it’s only key workers who can go to work (I.e police/ nurses etc), that might be what they consider the right thing to do, but that’s NOT what the PM has said.

an example is a painter/decorator working in an empty house on his own.Can he go to work tomorrow? Yes, I believe so.He clearly can’t do that job from home, so it’s essential for him to travel to do that work.

whether that’s the right thing to do is another question, but he’s not been directed by the government to stay to home?

I welcome challenges to this - as there are lots of different opinions.

The Guardian said:
Here’s the list of retail businesses the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government say are exempt from the prime minister’s order to close down:

  • Supermarkets and other food shops
  • Health shops
  • Pharmacies, including non-dispensing pharmacies
  • Petrol stations
  • Bicycle shops
  • Home and hardware shops
  • Laundrettes and dry cleaners
  • Garages
  • Car rentals
  • Pet shops
  • Corner shops and newsagents
  • Post offices
  • Banks

Just finished a 12 hour shift. It finally happened.

A patient on the ward started developing symptoms. High fever, dry cough. He's been under my care since last Thursday. Getting swabbed tonight - so hopefully it's negative otherwise I'll be off work for 14 days.

We had a confirmed case on the weekend, and I saw the chest xrays of this poor gentleman when he presented to A&E and then 12 hours after when he deterioriated.

fecking hell - can see why people die from it. That shit obliterates.

From BBC

"Elderly 'dead and abandoned' in Spanish care homes

Soldiers tackling Spain's coronavirus epidemic by disinfecting residential care homes have found a number of elderly people abandoned and left for dead in their beds, the country's defence minister has said.

The news comes as Spain's death toll from the disease rose from 1,720 on Sunday to 2,182. The total number of confirmed cases has increased to 33,089.

"The army has seen some totally abandoned elderly people – even some who were dead in their beds,” Margarita Robles told the Ana Rosa TV programme."

Those responsible would be met with "the full weight of the law", the minister added."

Today I learned McDonald's cares more for the well being of its staff than Sports Direct.
In fact, the only place worse to work at than Sports Direct is probably the sweat factories where they make those products.

Is GAME open? They were one of the last few places open before the lockdown. Mike Ashley owns them, so he’d probably say games are essentials too.

Yep I expect public disorder and plenty of other stuff to follow. We love a good summer riot in the UK don't we!

The government need to sort the self employed out, and the other bits and pieces, then pull the trigger. There seems to be no other way from learned experience of other countries. It has to be done.

Been locked down in France for 8 days now. Really not so fecking hard. People need to dial down the drama and just be sensible. Compared to some of the shit people are having to deal with in the world, staying in your own house isn’t the end of the bloody world.

Is there anything he doesn't own?

I just had a flick through the memo sent out from the group. I'd be ashamed to put my name to that open letter even down to the people working in marketing.

1) Read my post properly 2) What does having children got to do with anything?

I'm a PE teacher and as a department, we have put provisions in place which enables CHILDREN (yes, those under 16) to exercise everyday at home.
