You're going to equate Copa del Rey final to CL final?

How about we look at the latter stages of the CL, think any reasonable person will agree a CL QF/SF is a bigger game than teh Copa del Rey final. :smirk:
If you compare his knockout goals to Messi it is not even close. His numbers are are so far ahead of anyone else when it matters most in the CL.

As you said though "Copa del Rey" must be better according to his entourage.

the disrespects this guy gets is pathetic . he has left his comfort zone many times to prove himself somewhere else each time he felt a bit comfort.
and we have people hating on him just because he doesn't stop scoring.
To be fair, it probably took a lot less than nine seasons for him to be comfortable in La Liga haha

Mate. We must be watching football from two different world. Barca have a far and I mean FAR superior squad then this laughable Juve team. The midfield is non existent , the defense does not exist and the team does not know how to make any half decent chances.

Dybala and Ronaldo are the saving grace.
Messi and Ter Stegen are their only saving graces. We must be indeed watching different sports. (Barca's midfield and backline are non existent too). This view of yours is really crazy to me.

yeah, Juventus is comfortably in better shape than Barca atm. only City at their best (which isn't that often these days) and Bayern look better than Juve but in general, all the teams are pretty much on the same level this year.
Not even close. Barcelona are a far better team than Juventus on paper. Only thing I would say Juve have the upper hand is the manager, who in my opinion is terrible to begin with.

Sancho & Werner? I disagree with some of the others too. Mbappe hasn’t even played a full league season and his proportion of goals to his teams output isn’t as large as Ronaldo’s to Juve’s.Juve would be further down the table without Ronaldo’s goals.
Yes, Sancho and Werner. Werner's goal output is more impressive than Cristiano's given the former has scored 12 penalties and Sancho is more creative and contributed much more than Cristiano has in years on top of scoring a goal or an assist every 67 minutes for Dortmund - a team with significantly less individual quality than Juventus.

Nah it isn't just slightly better, even if you would like to think so. Lets look at top average rating in Serie A:

1. Ronaldo 7.91
2. Ilicic 7.65
3. Gomez 7.58
4. Alberto 7.56
5. Zapata 7.52
6. Dybala 7.48
6. Immobile 7.48

In fact there quite a large gap between Ronaldo and the others, if compared the players within the same league. Let's just be fair and honest with it.

Again, why keep bringing up he scored 7 goals against Lithuania, when Immobile could only scored 3 goals against Armenia and Finland, 2 of which came from a 9-1 win against Armenia, which is not exactly world beaters too. Before you point your at finger on someone, lets just be fair, please take a step back, and apply the same standard with the other players too. Otherwise no one could take you seriously, if you keep using double standard selectively to suit your claim.
It doesn't matter what anyone did against Lithuania because that's not professional football, plain and simple. If Immobile had played against them, too, and decided during he doesn't feel like playing football in that match and instead sit on the greens and play online poker that wouldn't change anything on who has had the better season. You keep sneaking in irrelevant statistics that make Cristiano look better and then are offended that people call you out for it.

I can't believe I actually have to argue that.

A team with less individual quality but play far more cohesively and create chances out of thin air. I’ve seen plenty of Sancho’s assists. They’re usually square balls across the box after brilliant build-up play by the entire team. Rarely some defense splitting pass. Not saying that Sancho isn’t creative but it’s not a level comparison. It’s easier to stat pad goals+assists in his team/league than at Juve.

highly doubt he's watching anything tbh, let alone other leagues. first it was Inter that are the best team in Italy (he was saying that in september), now it's Atalanta (he said that after that 2-2 draw). don't know what he thinks about Lazio, but it looks like to him Juventus are third or fourth best team in Italy so they certainly can't be better than Barca

I don't get it really. Ronaldo is a fantastic player and has been his entire career, there is no need to come up with alternate version of reality just to big him up even more (same thing with Messi too tbh).

without Dybala , Ronaldo and De ligt we would have been screwed. we have no plan to create chances for our forwards. our mid is abysmal . we lack a player like bruno fernandes in the middle. our game play is badly depending on Dybala , he has created most chances in league along side Alberto from Lazio , the difference is if oppositions take Dybala out of game we would become toothless all of a sudden.

When I criticized Cristiano during his late Madrid years for not participating and contributing enough, people used to tell me that he compensates that since his incredible movement and versatility made it so easy to create chances for him. You basically just needed to cross the ball roughly towards the penalty area and Cristiano would magically make it end in the back of the net. The fact that Juve doesn't create many chances is maybe also down to Cristiano being quite average in that area himself. And before I get criticized for that again: That's not meant as a side dig. What he is doing at his age is mindblowing and more than enough. He doesn't need to be creative on top of it nowadays. But still, I value players that create and initiate attacks more highly than those who finish it - especially if those creators are also pretty good at creating and converting their own chances. That's also the reason why I don't understand people demanding a Ballon D'Or for Lewandowski.

What Sancho is doing for me is simply more impressive than what Cristiano is doing for Juventus. I also think Sancho had a better season than even Lewandowski, by the way. You're also discrediting Sancho's contributions a bit. I've seen almost every Dortmund game and he was incredible.

I might start a thread comparing Charlie Adam to Andrea Pirlo to take some of the vitriol away from this thread :nervous:

Right, so with equal managers Barcelona would destroy Juventus in terms of quality.

Juventus is a team filled with past it players, with a very negative coach to boot.

There's no way Juventus' squad is comparable to Barca's. No chance. Barca are superior in every department.

The only thing superior in Juve is there coach and that is not saying much because he is a bang average coach.

Griezman, Suarez, frenkie, Arthur , ter Stegan, Vidal, hell even fati is better then anything Juve have in attack.

Every single one of those players would start at Juve.

Juve are super fortunate to be as far ahead as they have been this season, all Of Lazio, Inter, and Atalanta have played much better football then Juve have.

Experience and lucky results for Juve kept them up top while the others inexperienced cost them.

Atalanta last week, Napoli, Hellas Verona, Genoa, those are just 4 games where they got saved by the footballing gods.

You have a very simplistic way of watching football by looking at a table and seeing “hmm Juve are in first so they MUST be far superior then anyone else”

They got out played by both Atalanta and Lazio this season in games.

Do me a favor and actually sit down and watch a Juve game.

45 goals in 48 game is irrelevant? I am not talking 1 or 2 games, I am talking about whole season of goals and performances, yet you keep looking back to those 1-2 games to base all your arguments on? How sad.

I can't believe you actually have to resort to Lithuania again and again and again, even at this point, and at the same time blind yourself to all every other sources available, and even ignore those Armenia games, where Italy won 9-1, and Immobile only manage 2 goals from it. Really sad isn't it? And you seems can't pull yourself to do any better than this, after several weak attempts...

Its a waste of time arguing with you, as you have nothing else to add here, other than just keep ignoring and ignoring and ignoring.

If anyone here can truly say they would put 5 or 10 players above Ronaldo then you should start watching a new sport because you have absolutely lost the plot.

I’ll tell you what though, the way I KNOW Ronaldo is a bother to many is the amount of people who try to diminish his quality and achievements.

Discounting goals because to them “it does not count” but a hat trick against alaves or some doh shite team in la liga OR a couple of goals against some minnows in the CL is “fair game”. It just sounds silly and is a Lazy attempt to diminish the mans quality.

His haters are more active on his thread then his fans are.

Bro, stop with this nonsense. All those players (except the kid Fati) have all flattered to deceive'm. They have all been very average and at best they reached the "ok" level.
You're looking at their name without having seen how they've performed all season long. Football is more than a sum of sexy names and there is no way, this season, that Barca can be considered better than Juventus.

So please tell me which Juve players have performed better then the ones in that Barca squad.

I am curious for your answer because I have seen both teams a good amount this season.

I may not be the greatest fan of Ronaldo, but seing other people comparing a 35 y.o. Cristiano to players who are in their career and physical peak can be interpreted as a fantastic compliment. And despite Ronaldo being far from his career and physical prime, he still get better stats than players on their peak. It's absurd.

Seriously, adding goals & assists?

I have seen you make endless posts in the Ronaldo vs Messi thread using Ronaldo's assist numbers in the argument. I am positive it was you saying Ronaldo is on the same level as Messi for playmaking because they have similar assist totals.

Now in the Ronaldo thread you are saying assists don't matter. Of course assists matter.

But in these Copa Del Rey finals why wasn't Ronaldo in them?

Ronaldo only has 1 more CL final goal than Gareth Bale, are we going to imply that Bale is anywhere near to Ronaldo clutch wise? Of course not. The only argument you ever have is CL. As if no other football matches matter. Other matches will matter a lot this season for you though if Juve don't win the CL. You enjoy moving the goal posts to fit your arguments.

The only reason why I am mentioning Lithuania again and again is because you keep sneaking those goals in in order to boost his statistics. You post those numbers and know fully well that they're deceiving, dozens of posters have already told you so months ago. You're doing that on purpose because you want people to think he has done better than he actually has. It's the same with the 12 or 13 penalties he scored this season. You're not lying in the proper meaning of the word but you're deliberately leaving out details in order to influence the perception of him. And that's why this thread derails in regular intervals. Everyone is fine with you celebrating every goal of his and expressing your admiration but once stuff like this gets posted, people feel the urge to correct you and point out the context you gladly ignore. And rightly so.

What I hate is that this makes us appear as if we hold a grudge against him or something. Personally I want him to keep it up for as long as possible since he's a legend of the game and 30 years from now, I'll boast about how I've seen one of the all time greats play during his whole career. I want to see historic stuff happen as long as a I watch football, I'm already too old for pettiness. Still, it's incredibly hard to resist the urge of correcting you.

“sneak these goals in”

“Deceive”

Mate.....these goals happened! What are you lot on about? These goals literally happened, no one is just making up stats and adding goals to his tally. His OFFICIAL stats for this are 45 goals in 49 games.

No one is lying or “boosting his stats” Jesus mate you guys sound crazy. There is nothing to correct these are official stats and numbers that will be forever recorded in history long after he retires and we are all dead.

I don’t give a flying feck if it’s against Lithuania or a group of high schoolers, if it is an Official match recognized by UEFA or FIFA why the hell would you not count it? It’s not a friendly game they are official qualifying matches. Are we going to say the same for the goals Messi has against Venezuela or Bolivia? How about goals against Bate Borisov or APOEL? What about goals at a club World Cup against some random team from japan or Saudi Arabia? Is the difference in quality not the same from Barca or Madrid to clubs like those?

Goals and assists don’t just magically not count because YOU guys say they don’t. These are games that determine a teams involvement in the next major tournament, one that he won with his Country btw.

You guys need to seriously read what you guys write before you post.

So yes Ronaldo’s goal tally is 45 goals in 49 matches (so far) in 2019/20. Possibly might hit 50 goals in a season at the age of 35. All of this is actually happening, you don’t have to pinch yourself, you are fully awake and this is real life.

There is literally Zero and I mean Zero debate on that.

Yeah, these goals happened. And people don't value them as much since it's no sign of quality or good performance to score against teams which play on the level of third or fourth division teams. But saying "he scored 45 in 49" in 19/20 but leaving out the crucial information that this includes the stats for his national team, of which 7 occurred against one of the worst national sides in the world, as well as 13 penalties means that important context is left out. I mean, who are you trying to fool here? And even more importantly, why?

I'll never get the motivation behind all this. As I said, I also have a soft spot for many players but I lose interest the moment they stop performing like the player I admired. But you guys only seem to become more aggressive in your defense of Ronaldo the more age catches up with him. It's actually humiliating for the player himself because he doesn't need fans like this at all. You would see few people arguing against him if it wasn't for you guys being completely over the top. You're achieving the exact opposite of what you intended to with this nonsense.

No one is trying to achieve anything. We are stating his stats for the season. Mate these are his Literal stats.

Who are the “people” who don’t value these goals besides the same 3 or 4 people i see on here? Because I never see pundits saying “ahh ya 45 goals in 49 matches BUT as you all know the other ones don’t count”

Literally no one says that’s besides the same brigade down playing his achievements.

You still have not answered my question about teams like bate. Would they not be in the third division of England? Compared to Barca are they not a 3rd division club? What about when teams face a team from Japan or Saudi Arabia?

You don’t just discount goals because it fits your benefit.

Have you ever played football? To score 7 goals in 2 games is not exactly easy either especially for a “washed up, past it player”

I have seen a lot of bad arguments against Ronaldo before but this one takes the piss for sure.

If he doesn't score against Lithuania when he did we probably wouldn't have won that game and would have had trouble qualifying. Same for the goal away to Andorra that got us to the World Cup a few years ago or the goals against Armenia when we were struggling in the previous Euros. They were games where we struggled against parked buses who were tough to break down so why should those goals count less? Would a goal to make it 8-0 against Bayern be more impressive?

Out of all the top scorers in the world he's the one that gets to statpad the least these days given Juve rarely win a game by a big margin. Meanwhile Barca, Bayern, PSG or City regularly put 5 or 6 past some teams. Out of the 62 goals he's scored for Juve, only 4 came when Juve had a 2 goal lead and only 1 goal when they've had a bigger lead than that.

He gets an asterisk next to every goal he scores but the likes of Lewandowski, De Bruyne or Neymar get to play for teams with three times the offensive volume of Juventus and noone cares how inflated their stats are. Instead it's Ronaldo who is lucky to get penalties despite winning a bunch of them himself.

Have you ever played football? To score 7 goals in 2 games is not exactly easy either especially for a “washed up, past it player”

I have seen a lot of bad arguments against Ronaldo before but this one takes the piss for sure.

See, I'm no longer debating this. I'm not sure if you're sincerely believing the bs you're talking or if you actually know that you make no sense but don't care anyway. But this is enough for me, I made my point and the way this thread is derailing again shows that I'm sure as hell not the only one seeing it like that. Have fun.

Jesus this quarantine truly has some of you off the rails.

“This bs your speaking”

Official stats mate, this was never a debate as you make zero sense at all.

You still have failed to answer my question which makes your “point ” as nonsensical as it sounds.

If you read my post, I did not say assists don’t matter, but they are not the same as gods and hence should not be added together like they are the same.

Because Real don’t take the CDR anywhere as seriously as Barca, this is true been before either of them made their debut.

Antônio having a good season for West Ham. 10 goals in 23 for a team battling the drop.

But 4 of those goals came against Norwich, who are awful and have players that will never be the required standard. So discount those ones just.

Also, you can discount today. It was a penalty. So obviously take it away too...

Anyway, Antônio having a poor season for West Ham, only 5 in 23. They should probably be looking to bring someone in.
