Predict the Top 6 in order

I think many have forgotten just how tough things were looking in August. My feeling at the time was that by not signing at least one CM in the summer we'd left ourselves an injury to Pogba or McTomminay away from being lost in midtable because they were the only two midfielders who looked anything like capable to doing a job for us. I've always tended towards optimism but:

Matic looked finished
Fred had been a disaster up to then
Andreas is just a bad footballer
Lingard had regressed horribly.

We had McTominay and Pogba who were good enough and nobody else. Literally nobody else. Then we lost both of them. Scotty for around 6 weeks. Pogba for most of the season.

Our league position through the Autumn and Winter reflected the fact that we had relegation standard midfield for a few months. That's not an exaggeration. Of course the narrative was Ole was out of his depth because he couldn't get this midfield to win every week.

Somehow over a few months Ole and the coaches managed to transform Fred from useless to one of the better performing midfielders in the league. Then they managed to develop a partnership between him and McTominay that made us competitive but still lacking creativity due to the reliance on Andreas to provide it. Adding Bruno finally got us into a state where we have a creative force in there and had a genuine chance. That was the end of January around 25 games into the season. By then it should have been way too late.

Somehow it wasn't. They put a run together. Then getting Matic looking much fitter during the break and getting Pogba back allowed us to get to another level and charge into 3rd.

It was a remarkable turnaround. Ed left Ole in an absolute mess in August with a barren wasteland for a midfield and he just gritted his teeth and got on with it and over the season made it work. For a team where Andreas Pereria played almost every league game until the end of January, 3rd place is a miracle.
Very very apt my friend

1. Liverpool
2. City
3. Chelsea
4. Spurs
5. Arsenal
6. Man United

We'll sit in 9th/10th in the end of December, but will turn it around with new players in in January
Happy I got this one wrong. Well done, Ole!

 So no one got it right at all even the ones that posted their prediction late months 2019.
Even the so-called more knowledgeable football pundits.

Biggest reasons?
1. Over-estimate Spurs and Arsenal.
2. Under-estimate Leicester.
3. Under-estimate United.
We will finish in 3rd just behind City. Leicester and Chelsea will start to drop more points. We may even catch City if they don't sign a defender in January. Unfortunately, there is no catching Liverpool...ugh

My prediction in December was pretty bang on other than we weren't "just behind City". The placing was still correct though :)

Next year I think it's gonna be

  1. Liverpool
  2. City
  3. United
  4. Chelsea
  5. Spurs.
  6. Wolves/Southampton

I dont think Liverpool will win it. They have a great first 11 but their squad as a whole is too weak imo and they can't strengthen. If they can keep their first 11 fit all season, they should be very close to it but apart from losing Allison and Fabinho, they didnt lose any of their main players at all to injury. Take Van Dijk out of that team for 5 league games and they look vulnerable. Lose TAA or Robertson they lose a lot of creativity and assists.

Yes.

Depressing thinking back to the early season.

1. City
2. Liverpool
3. Arsenal/Chelsea/Spurs/United
4. Arsenal/Chelsea/Spurs/United

6. Arsenal/Chelsea/Spurs/United
I was almost right

I've checked the first 90 predictions in here. 8 people correctly predicted we'd finish 3rd. The user with the most right predictions (3) is @Shakesey who got the top 3 bang on. 19 of the 90 thought we'd finish outside the top 6.

I'm the only person who got the top 4 right.

All in the wrong places but still.

Pretty consistent with the 2019/20 analysis from most on here.

busy day in work is it?

But ye were very lucky with injuries and the rest of us being quite poor.
Us, Chelsea and City will be a lot stronger next year and unless ye invest in some quality back ups then, I can't see ye winning it.

My prediction for 20/21

1. Man City
2. Man United
3. Liverpool
4. Chelsea
5. Arsenal
6. Spurs

I've finished all of the predictions up to the 11th August. Currently, 58.8% of the Caf thought we'd finish outside the top 4. 18.7% thought we'd finish outside the top 6.

@Meep predicted the top 3 perfectly. While only 4 people from 182 recorded thought Arsenal would finish outside the top 6.

:wenger: Well there you go. Even a blind pig can find an acorn once in a while..

My 20/21 top 6 Prediction

Liverpool- their cycle isn’t over yet. One more season at the top I think
Chelsea- will do good business this summer. Their important players are young. They will have less pressure than city. Lampard seems to have a good thing going.
City- ageing squad, will do plenty of business but It will probably take time to gel the old and the new. Slowly Losing important players.
Utd- we will probably not get everything we need and another year of building awaits.
Leicester
Spurs/Everton/Arsenal fighting out the EL spots.

It was purely down to people hyping up their transfers like Pepe. Same thing will happen next season with Chelsea while conveniently forgetting that it’s very rare new signings all come in and transform a team together. It’s far easier for new players to slot into an existing team and system. Sancho would have a massive impact at Utd in a short space of time as he would slot into an obvious hole.

The obvious hole Greenwood scored 17 goals from ?

I agree with most of it but I actually see Arsenal coming in 5th or 6th next season. If auba doesn’t leave and they’re able to bring in a couple players as well. They have been quite decent since Arteta came in. Respect for beating Liverpool and city in the same week.

I also think we miiiiight finish above city if they can’t bring in decent defenders.

As for Liverpool, their success will again depend on injuries. Should have a very similar season to this previous one if they can avoid injuries and hence win the title again but it’s highly unlikely. They rely a lot on their FBs and they don’t have high level backups. Same goes for Mane/Salah/VVD.
If they lose 2/3 of these aforementioned players to injury together or even simultaneously, they’ll be in big trouble. Specially if these injuries are fairly long enough such as 6-8 weeks or more.
My prediction for 20/21

1. Man City
2. Man United
3. Liverpool
4. Chelsea
5. Arsenal
6. Spurs
Honestly I think your prediction is most likely for next season. Specially if city do reinforce their back line. That’s literally all that’s needed to upgrade.

Also like the how you have Arsenal above Spurs. I have a strong feeling Arsenal will so better then them.

I still think Sancho is perfect for that position in our team. Greenwood is a worldly but he’s still only 18. We need 4 great options for those 3 positions to challenge.

1. Everton
2. City
3. Chelsea
4. Liverpool
5. United
6. Arsenal
7. Spurs
8. Leicester
9. Wolves
10. West Ham
