It's amazing on how many different layers Messi runs that club

Has there ever been a player in history that has a club by the balls as much as he has? He literally picks the manager, his team mates and now I've learnt of this clause that allows him to jump ship any time.
Its crazy isnt it. Great to see some drama though at another club.

“We need a left-footed centre-back, so keep going.”
This wins the internet today.
Imagine taking the greatest ever player to court because he fancies a change. After bringing you glory after glory. Weird and small-time move.
Yeah but look what Barcelona stand to lose if he does leave. Arguably the best player in the world to begin with not to mention all that brings with it from a commercial point of view. If he missed the notice period in his contract then Barca are fully entitled to go down this route. Imagine any club just allowing the prize assest go for free mid contract. Especially when they have no cash supposedly to begin with.

I dont think he'll ever come to us but the clubs that will line up to sign him will be a mile long.
Every club in the world no doubt. Dont think my local club could afford even 0.0001% of even one week of his wages though

Ed will be all over this.

Bet Sancho is off now and he tries Messi instead. We fail and Sancho is lost.

We end up with Zaha for 85M and Lewis Dunk for 55.

We should definitely try to sign him.

We have decent foundation for success... Ole is a players manager... It's a good narrative for him to revive Manchester United.

Everyone wants the President to resign. The players, the fans, the socios, ex-players. No one likes him. I don't blame for Messi leaving. His mismanagement of the sporting direction of the team has been appalling and quite frankly Messi is wasting his most productive years there under it.

United should do everything to get him. Yes I know he’s at the tail end of his career but it would lift the profile of the club hugely plus it would attract other players. At a time when United are in the spotlight for the wrong reasons this would be a welcome lift.
Think of the shirts.

Ya definitely, there was even an article from a few days ago saying that City were already looking into the finances surrounding a potential move for Messi.
They’re probably the ones advising him on this. They’ve already stuck two fingers up at UEFA, why not Barcelona as well.

Him and Pep fell out towards the end of Pep's reign at Barca.
Ah fair enough I didn't know this.

Also, will Pep want a forward that doesn't press?
It's Messi at the end of the day(Also how much is Messi lack of pressing down to being dissatisfied with the current barca team ?).

Pep is crazy enough to say no to possibly the greatest player of all time because Messi doesn't fit his system.

What's his likeliest destination? City?
Yes, City. They have reportedly been tapping him up for years. If he leaves this summer, while Pep is still at City, a reunion would surely be nailed on.

The only other club in world football that could probably afford a deal to take him, would be PSG.

The likes of United, Juve, Bayern etc would obviously be interested, but the oil clubs can blow us all out of the water now that FFP is effectively dead.

I'd rather not have a player (Messi or Ronaldo) who are in the twilight of their careers and become the main focus of the club for the media. I hope the club keeps the Sancho route open who is by all accounts the future.

Imagine PSG with Neymar, Mbappe and Messi. Playstation, surely.
would be awesome to see Messi feck over Icardi one more time and give him the boot. But didn't Neymar leave Barca because he wanted to make it on his own and be the man?

If he goes, it has to be PSG to link up with his mate?

Neymar-Messi-Mbappe

ADM Back into midfield with Veratti and Marquinhos.

I can definitely see them going for it and reaping the rewards of a boost in profile. Not to mention the fact that he can sit out minor league games whenever he feels the need to.
That would work. As you say it is a easy league for them so he could get the rest.

A mile long? There’s a maximum of six surely, unless he is basically going to slum his career in a backwater for even more ridiculous money or money magically no longer becomes a real factor and is happy to play for Newell’s Old Boys.

It’s City, United, Chelsea, Juve, Inter or PSG. Chelsea seemingly have spent out elsewhere. Juve’s strategy of big wages on free transfers has seemingly caught up with them. That leaves four, with City and PSG the most likely of them for obvious reasons.

I don't see him going to France. It's England or Itally imo. Us, Cheaty or Inter.
You wouldnt pay the required sums for Sancho by all accounts, wages, agent fees etc, yet think you will agree to Messi's demands? Or even get near them. I think we can safely rule out any english club bar City. Because of Pep

Ole wouldn't have a clue what to do with him. I imagine AWB would have sleepless nights wondering how to play quick possession with him.

Messi has been desperate in his attempts to get Neymar back at Barca in the past 2 campaigns, so its only natural that Messi downs tools at Barca and joins up with the roly-poly one in Paris.

Even though this is Messi, I weirdly agree.

United have the best chance of getting him imo. Adidas and United are going to be all over this.

Yep, first PSG with the Neymar buyout and now City with this, one would almost have to feel sorry for Barcelona (not that I do in all honesty). It's the new reality that everyone has to accept I suppose.

He is not leaving, yet.

I read this as an ultimatum, him or Barto.

If the board keeps him, his buddies like Suarez are also retained.

I think more will be clear end of the week.
Their board don't have much of a choice until the new presidential elections in March from what I understand.

It would have to be Bartomeu stepping down on his own accord but all accounts report that he has no plans of doing that and he's said as much himself.

On the contrary, he apparently plans on taking him to court remarkably. He'll be a wanted man in Catalona for the rest of his days if he doesnt come to his senses

Pep's probably the only manager in the world that would... For him his system is king at the end of the day.

I agree United won’t get him but what we will pay Messi isn’t anywhere close to the whole Sancho deal so it’s such a weird comparison. All this talk is getting Messi for free. So the only money is signing on bonus and image rights and stuff like that. Initial outlay on the day of the signing won’t be more than 10 million I reckon.

Him and Pep aren’t that close and I’ve read before that they fell out in his final season there. And the issue with Sancho is the 100m up front fee on top of the agent fees and his wage demands. It’s a cashflow issue we wouldn’t have with Messi.
