Is it just me or are we signing a player to a position where we have Pogba, Fred, Matic and McTominay, but we still have to play Lingard/Pereira if Bruno is out?
PLayed Brunos position more than the others you mention

no mate - I just happen to think Grealish is better and also an easier fit. Looking good in Holland and in an Ajax team is def easier than shining with a bunch of rubbish players and saving them from relegation , in fact outshining any player in our team on our own pitch - plus Grealish is english. Sorry but that’s the negative - but I’m not downing the business - I just hope it does not get in the way of other business and I would love the cream of the english players at United because it creates an easier / stronger culture of togetherness..
as I said I still like the look of DVB
Would you have been happy for us to splash 60-80m on Grealish? because that's what Villa would be asking for and he's not anywhere close to being worth that seeing as we already have Fernandes.

Best case realistic scenario we have upgraded Fred and strengthened the squad. That's nice. It's not going to get anyone excited about next season though.
We're all waiting and hoping for Sancho but if you take a step back and look at our front 4 as it is with Pogba and another behind them and now potentially another CAM of quality to come in off of the bench rather than it being Lingard or Andreas then it actually is reason for excitement

Didn’t he play that position in his first couple games for us and was very good in the role? Or at least slightly deeper.
I don’t remember him playing there to be honest. I might be wrong but I can only remember him playing as a 10, even a second striker at times. His passing is too inconsistent to work as an 8 long term in my opinion.

Imagine being unhappy with us signing a young promising player who has already shown he can play at top level  Even if he doesn't become a Messi of midfielders he surely should be a good player for us and add depth which we are lacking a lot. Our fans have been crying for months now because we made no signings and now when we made one you are crying again because his name isn't Sancho  I swear our fanbase is the worst.
Who's unhappy and wwhy?

Like the fact he can make those short passes against teams with a compact defensive shape; he should be effective in the box.

Wanted by many clubs, but wanted to come to us. And we were fast enough to make it happen.

Destroys so many false narratives that the moaners use to moan about.

Yeah I don’t think our dealings are as clueless as people make out at times.

Everything we do is panned by fans. Transfers for Big name signings take a long while to conclude, most of the narrative it is driven by that.

Very impressive signing if it’s true. It’s pretty much the opposite to how we’ve conducted business in recent years.

you know what - yes I would! Because what’s an extra 20 mill when it comes to getting a proper class act? I accept that is subjective

but I think bruno and jack could dovetail and with our runners/ strikers the movement and opportunities would be exponential.

hey that’s just my opinion!
but please dont get me wrong - I’m not saying don’t get Donny - just want Grealish / sancho / both!!!!

he is more of a DM than a CAM

Grealish wears children’s shorts. It’s a hard pass from me.

We paid 80 for Maguire :D. I do agree though, Grealish is a good player, but I'm yet to be convinced he is top drawer and what we need.
Yeah we needed Maguire more than we need Grealish. Grealish would be behind Bruno in the centre and he’s not really a right winger so he would be a “luxury” buy. Which £80m is excessive.

Would actually be over double what van de Beek costs. Villa holding firm at £80m.

We can do things in the transfer market other clubs can only dream of... Or words to that effect.

listen cockface...you are the most vile cumstain I've ever encountered on this forum. You monopoloise this thread you come across with some half arsed one liner that would'nt qualify for the Joe Longthorne show and then present yourself like you are the King of comedy on American prime time. You epitimise most of what I detest about the internet...opinions formed at the drop of a hat....petty jokes at the expense of others with no thought for their feelings and most of all the self absorbing egotistical self correction of spelling that really points out to every other poster that the highlight of your day is a wank to "big tit weekly". You dont have the friends here you perceive yourself to have and have the intellect of a gnat and the culmanation of this sceario will be your demise in a slow and agonising manner.

Ermmmm mods? Is this... is this allowed now?

As much as one may be inclined to agree with some of the notions raised here surely we can’t going around calling people cumstains

Important question, how is against a high press?
From what I saw he plays good one touch and finds decent solutions, not a flair player but keeping it simple, there were highlights of all his touches in UCL. In that regard he has good technique.

I wanted Grealish to join us as much as anybody else, but I think getting Donny instead is shrewd business. Grealish was always going to be super expensive once Villa stayed up, and it seems unlikely that we'll make those kinds of deals this summer. Getting Donny for €40m instead just makes a ton of sense.

Agreed. Grealish may prove me wrong, but 80 million is too much, even in today's market. We could use that amount in more needy areas.

Some performances vs big teams from him. These are not highlights of how great he can be, but just clips of every touch hes had against top oppositions. Can see he's definately no Pogba/Bruno, and has some weaknesses in passing, but is overall clean in technique and very energetic in his play.
Great share! Much prefer these videos vs 'best hits' as you get a genuine insight into vdB total play.

One massive difference between vdB and the Grealish/Brooks type options is he has played vs Munich, Madrid, Juventus etc many times. And watching these videos, great to see he can cope vs the very best.

To me he looks like a Gerrard regen, albeit it will take a little while for him to develop into the genuine version. Still only 23 (about same age Rio or Keane joined us).

Yeah I’ve seen him in the CL but not more than that. Looked good there, but hopefully he’s good under pressure as we struggle with that.

Great signing, good value and in a position we need quality CAM/Offensive CM.

Tactically exactly what we need!

A lot flaming easier than Dortmund. Adding more class to our squad, good age and good price.
yep I’m really happy with his signing, hard to believe there’s some saying it’s not good. From the times I’ve seen him play for Ajax if he can replicate that then I think he will be a great addition to our squad.
