No way should Fred be leaving over Lingard or Peirera. Fred imo would be considered as being good backup on the bench. Something which we’ve struggled with this season. Pogba and Bruno are the definite starters, which then leaves VDB, Fred, Matic and Mctominay to fight for the other place.

People are falling for this Thiago news aswell. Bayern are just using our name to make Liverpool pay up. Then that will fit Liverpool’s agenda, saying he chose them over us. I’m not falling for it.

Sancho and Upamecano are the 2 dream signings for this window. Reguilon would also be a good signing if we shifted Smalling, Jones and Rojo. If not I don’t see us signing more than 2 players. A great poacher up top would’ve been nice also. Cavani would’ve been my choice as a freebie. But seeing as he hasn’t been snapped up yet, I’m assuming he’s asking for a ridiculous wage.

Yeah isn't Cavani supposed to want something like £300,000 a week but I could well be wrong on that.

Completely agree that the other two would be fantastic signings in areas where we most need to strengthen.

I think our name is being used for the scousers to pay up too and do like Reguilon but worry about this potential buyback clause for him.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. That's probably why it won't happen.

If there's a time to be bold and spend is now. Virtually zero competition from big clubs and some ver good options on the market.

In:
VdB
Thiago
Upamecano
Sancho

Out:
Smalling
Jones
Rojo
Mata
Lingard
Pereira

Fred and Dalot only if an irresistible offer comes. If not, McT loaned. Huge net spend, but and damn good one.

Consider the age of this group and the amount of talent. I think United would challenge for the title.

We shouldn't be looking to shift off Fred unless we are bringing in another midfielder as well as Donny. We can make enough money by off loading Smalling, Rojo, Jones, Pereira and Lingard and that should be our priority. However, if Fred wants to be a regular then obviously we can't guarantee that so I wouldn't be against it as long as the money is reinvested in the squad. Perhaps we just don't have any takers for the "deadwood" and now we are looking at the fringe players to raise some money.

The only real competition in your in's list comes from the scousers for Thiago

Disagree. Lingard on form is a good little player and there's a fair few in this league who are far worse who continue to make a good contribution to their sides.

Just because Lingard isn't good enough for a title challenging team or one aiming for European football it doesn't necessarily mean he's a poor player. Just one that isn't good enough for a higher level.
Agreed. I hate the underrating of some of our players. He’s an England regular and has knack of scoring in big games. He’s much better than a “championship player“. That’s just a lazy ignorant narrative. He’d actually do well for Arsenal or Everton, never mind the likes of Newcastle, Leicester etc. I could even see Mou taking him to Spurs

If Lingard decided to stay and be a squad option, I wouldn't be surprised if he does reasonanly well for us. Winning the league or CL does not mean 17 WC players. Lingard's energy comes in handy in some games.

If we are starting our first 11 and Lingard plays RM some games, it isnt as bad as people make it. Playing him in a team with James, Perreira, Fred, McTominay and a weak defence doesn't help because you are playing 6/7 players who lack confidence.

Skip to 3:35 (yes, this is an announcement Tweet).

EDIT: For whatever reason, Arsenal felt like deleting and reuploading the same exact Tweet.

To be fair, both AC Milan and Arsenal probably wanted a saga as heart-wrenching ours with Sancho. They got their only bits of excitement this summer. :D

Will he be starting with Dunk next season? @The Boy ?
Likely to be White, Dunk and Webster. Which would be a fantastic back three in terms of footballing ability.

Duffy has just gone on loan to Celtic. Joel Veltman as backup is another good footballing CB who can step in when required.

Lingard is the ultimate confidence player. When he’s on it, he’s Messi Lingard. Unfortunately for whatever reason his confidence has fallen off a cliff and he’s been awful. I like him but VdB signing seals his chances to minimal at best I’d think. I’d love to see him go to somewhere like Everton, play regular and prove he’s a good player

Jeff Reine-Adelaide was probably inspired by Memphis.

Translated quote:
I want to look for a new project.
Looks like Lyon might have an exodus in the near future.

EDIT:

Jeff Reine-Adelaide wants to find a solution with Lyon so that his personal situation improves.
