Am I missing something, or did everyone predict two less wild card teams than there will be?

I just copied last year's template - totally forgot that there are 14 playoff teams right now

Jeudy has apparently been getting "open at will" during camp

Remember when Mayock seemed to have sensible opinions? So weird how different he is now he is a GM.

Still can't believe the Raiders didn't take Jeudy. Think it'll be a massive mistake personally
I think Jeudy will prove to be the best NFL WR of this class (and comfortably so ahead of Lamb and the others), but apart from that I do think Ruggs fits what they're trying to build in Vegas. And Bryan Edwards will have a role too (especially with Williams on IR now and his season over), so all in all I don't think they drafted too badly.

I just don't think Ruggs fits Derek Carr... although I'll take your point that he might fit what they're trying to build, with or without Carr. Carr is a short range, timing thrower... and a bit of a checkdown charlie. Ruggs will blow the top of a defence, but that's no good if Carr doesn't have the arm to reach, or is not patient enough. I just think Jeudy would have fit Carr so much better.

Get him into rythm with some slants and stuff and make him do his magic after the catch - he was ridiculous after the catch in college, wasn't he?

Agreed that he won't be benefiting from Carr's (lack of a) deep ball but even if he is used as a deep threat, it makes safeties or other players commit and might create space for other players, e.g. Waller and Jacobs should be able to benefit from that.

With what is happening with Fournette and Kamara is it time to once again say running backs do not really matter if you want to be successful?

I think i read somewhere the leading rusher has not been in a superbowl going on 20 years and recent superbowls have featured teams without a top drawer running back .

I still feel my team the cowboys totally overpaid Zeke Elliott and could have used the money elsewhere

They are rarely worth that 2nd contract. They are usually overworked in college then add another 4/5 years in the pros. There are of course outliers.

You have, especially since Pollard has looked excellent too whenever he was on the field.

Kamara will get paid though. His skill set is more unique than a "downhill RB" like Fournette. But even then, Murray was the RB1 in the two or three weeks Kamara was absent last season. Ekeler was also great when Gordon was holding out, ... Plenty of examples.

Would Fournette be a good option for the Bucs?
It is being mooted as a popular choice, but they have a bit of a crowd back there with the 3rd round rookie and McCoy additions.

Arians is probably thinking he has enough to work with, unless Leonard is really cheap.

Barkley as OPOFTY but Giants not even doing well enough to get a wildcard spot (in a pretty weak NFC East). No chance IMO. Plus, the Giants are fecking dreadful.

Wouldn’t be the first time an individual shone in a team that didn’t make the play offs.

Happened last season on a 5-11 team.

Brady out here proving us all wrong. He can win without the system, it's so easy.

Only morons believed he couldn’t win without the system (he helped create) in the 1st place.

I suppose so. Barkley wasn't even promising last season though, and nothing to suggest the Giants have done anything to help him out.

Nah, I'm not buying into the hype.

Brady is friggin' 43 years old.
Mike Evans is a deep-ball threat who benefited from Jameis' gung-ho "sling it" attitude, which Brady i) doesn't have and ii) doesn't have the arm for anymore.
Chris Godwin is dealing with small injuries, might be moved to the perimeter again if Ritchie James becomes the slot receiver, and hasn't looked outstanding in camp so far according to Beat writers.
Fournette is just a downhill runner who will get what's blocked for him. Barely an upgrade over Ronald Jones for me.
Gronkowski hasn't had glowing reports at all, struggling to pick up the offense and might only feature as a RedZone weapon or on 3th-down situations.

It looks great on paper but not for me. Their pass defense was wank last season too and hasn't had a meaningful upgrade unless I forget someone.

What’s the best way to watch the NFL in the UK? I have Now TV so catch the Packers games I can on there. Just wondering if the game pass is worth it? If so can I get it through a smart TV or console?

There's a GamePass app for smart TVs yeah - I think there's also one on the PS4 store but I couldn't get to it in Belgium, might be different in the UK.

I think you guys have RedZone on Sky from what I've heard on here, but imo the essential GamePass is well worth its money, unless you're interested in live Packers games, in that case you'd need the full package which is a bit more expensive.

Brady’s velocity was just fine last season - and widely reported this summer, he simply didn’t have the weapons last season.

Gronk hasn’t had any issues with the play book but OJ Howard has looked fantastic since working with him and Brady.

The defense looked pretty good last half of the season, just depends if that young secondary keeps on improving.

Who the feck is Ritchie James:lol:

After a one-year retirement from the NFL, Buccaneers TE Rob Gronkowski may not be ready to play a full compliment of snaps come Week 1. When asked about how much Gronkowski will play in their season-opener against the Saints, head coach Bruce Arians said, "We'll play it by ear."

Arians also noted that Gronkowski struggled with a 16-play drive in the teams most recent scrimmage, prompting some to wonder if he is ready for a full workload. With fellow tight ends O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate also on the roster, Tampa Bay could afford to ease the former All-Pro tight end in gradually without missing much of a step.
And let's not pretend that Gronk was still awesome in his last year at NE. He was already clearly past his prime and is just coming back from a year off. I get that he looks great on paper but there's at least 10 TEs I'd rather have on my team right now than him.

Last season, Jameis was willing to stare the pressure down and wait till the last split second to launch a rocket down the field. Brady will throw the ball away or check down as soon as he sees a defender closing in on him. His deep ball accuracy might be "fine" I guess but how many of them will there be? I have my doubts.

I was confusing Richie James (49ers) with Scottie Miller:

He'll be heavily involved according to both Brady and Arians, and he's primarily a slot receiver, which means Godwin would move back to the perimeter (which he has already been playing before last season, admittedly). And we all know Brady loves his white slot receivers of course.

He’s not a slot receiver - he’s a speed merchant on the outside. Godwin will be in the slot (majority of the time) with Miller/Watson splitting time on the outside.

Not sure where that clip is from because the beat writers have zero concerns with Gronk and the playbook.

We'll see. It's all fancy on paper but I'll bet against it until I see it for myself. Gronk isn't a top-10 TE in the league anymore right now unless he proves otherwise.

He doesn’t need to be a top 10 TE, I’d expect him to be similar to his last year in NE. Still has enough to turn up big when it matters. Soon find out if he’s capable of that.

The genuine concerns are at o-line and in the secondary - inconsistent, young and very thin on depth. Would’ve been better using Fournette money to strengthen there.

Yep agreed, although I did read that they're only paying him $2m on a one-year deal.
