There'll be football one week from now. Watson vs Mahomes. Almost feels surreal, so good

On a personal level, not really looking forward to Mahomes carving up our secondary while Deshaun has to run for his life against Clark and Jones, but oh well.

Oh and NFC South RBs are quite ridiculous right now: CMC, Kamara, Gurley, Fournette. Wow.

Only a week ago it looked like he was in line to be the lead back at the start of the season.

Nah, I'm not buying into the hype.

Brady is friggin' 43 years old.
Mike Evans is a deep-ball threat who benefited from Jameis' gung-ho "sling it" attitude, which Brady i) doesn't have and ii) doesn't have the arm for anymore.
Chris Godwin is dealing with small injuries, might be moved to the perimeter again if Ritchie James becomes the slot receiver, and hasn't looked outstanding in camp so far according to Beat writers.
Fournette is just a downhill runner who will get what's blocked for him. Barely an upgrade over Ronald Jones for me.
Gronkowski hasn't had glowing reports at all, struggling to pick up the offense and might only feature as a RedZone weapon or on 3th-down situations.

It looks great on paper but not for me. Their pass defense was wank last season too and hasn't had a meaningful upgrade unless I forget someone.
The moment Brady gets hit it their entire season will go up in a puff of smoke.

Lots of Seahawks love this season!

@Phil @Hephaestus optimistic for the upcoming season?

Unbelievable that Clowney is still a FA, come to think of it.

Simmons is just as freakish an athlete if not more so and just what that D was missing.

That said, we’ll soon be talking about Young in the same breath as Garrett, the Bosas, Watts, etc. so he’s also a great choice there.

A bit. Still got huge question marks over the offensive line as always and if Clowney doesn't come back then our defensive line will likely be rubbish as well. There's also the question of how much the coaches are willing to let Wilson do, I'm hoping with the receiving talent we have now that they're finally going to acknowledge that being a run heavy team makes no sense for us anymore.

Won't help that the NFC West looks really strong. Wouldn't be shocked if all 4 teams are fighting for playoff spots at the end of the season.

The NFC West is the most interesting division, in my opinion. If I could get a TV subscription to any single division that would be it.

I also think the AFC North will be a bloodbath, but I might be more bullish on the Steelers and Browns than others.

The Cardinals will overtake the Rams in the pecking order this year, just narrowly missing out on the playoffs due to having Russ and Shanahan in their division schedule. It is known.

@RobinLFC

Pretty much this, though I'm actually a bit less worried about the offensive line. It doesn't really have much lower to go and we're used to Russ still making it work with a poor line.

DL is my main concern, I still hope we manage to get Clowney this year but if not, that could be a major weakness that holds us back and ultimately ends up costing us.

Otherwise, it does feel like we're pretty nicely balanced and like you said @Hephaestus, the only other thing that might hold us back is shitty play calling.

I'm excited for DK / Lockett / Flash / Prich, healthy TE, by all accounts a pass catching RB in Deejay Dallas and of course, the main man Russ.

I'm working from home for good now so I'll definitely be staying up later this year to watch as many games as possible.

We are also going to see the actual Jared Goff this year. No good RBs. So he had to throw more and we will how good he actually is. ATM he is grossly overpaid.

Firmly disagree about the Rams. McVay is one of the best HCs in the league and he's able to adapt his offensive schemes. Defenses figured them out a bit last season after their SB run but I think he'll have them up and running again this season. The atrocious O-line is the only thing that might hold them back.

For the Cardinals to be relevant, Murray needs to take a (big) step forward imo. Yet to be determined whether he will or won't of course.

Saints have -$80m cap next season. That’s crazy.

Im assuming they know Brees ain’t coming back next season.

That would be around a 4-year, $140m deal.

And the Cowboys released Clinton-Dix yesterday - isn't that somewhat of a weird move? They already lost Byron Jones in FA, and Clinton-Dix is a good safety imo.

Was already reported one or two weeks ago (by Rapoport I think) that the Cowboys' interest in Thomas had cooled off.

Frank Gore’s son started his NCAAF career yesterday while Sr is still playing. Unbelievable for a RB that blew his knee out twice in college.

Little factoid: At the U, he was averaging 9 yards per carry (on not a huge amount of attempts mind) and was ahead of future 1st rounder McGahee on the depth chart before that first major injury.

Is his son highly recruited?

Who does he play for?

Wow, didn't expect that. If anything I thought they were gonna release Bryce Love.

Guess this means it's Antonio Gibson SZN
