What does Tony have to do to get a chance for France? Must be demoralising seeing Giroud & Lacazette get games over him.
Surely it's a good thing. Who gives a flying feck about France and some glorified friendly match. Surely you would prefer that he is properly rested and fresh for United and the new season? How would you feel if he came on tonight and picked up a niggly injury and missed the start of the season? The less United players play in these Nation League games the better in my opinion.

Martial is a confidence player, a goal for his country after missing out on the world cup would do him the world of good.

What's your argument? He's one of the most coveted defenders in the game.
based on what? If he was he'd be moving on from Benfica this summer at the latest

I wonder what happened to the previous Benfica CB that was lauded not because of his defending but because people thought he looked quite good on the ball.

Belgium lucky to be 1-0 up. They have not created one chance from open play. And only one dangerous situation in the first half.

There's no agenda against Martial ffs. Giroud has done very little wrong to be dropped. Martial always gets picked by Deschamps whenever he shows form and it's always clear when Deschamps doesn't like a player, he rates Martial.

Portugal have been exceptional and honestly Bruno is world class, what a gem of a player. Everything is going through him but really Portugal should be 4-0 up.

City could have a very good right back on their hands next season (first season jitters) and all that..
The issue with Cancelo is he can't defend and actually, all of Croatia's dangerous moments have come on Portugal's right hand side because Cancelo has been especially poor defensively today.

Controlled first half from us, should have scored more than one. Croatia are missing a bunch of starters unfortunately but this should still be more competitive than what it's been.

Hopefully Trincao gets his debut in the second half

Ronaldo is going to love playing with this team in the Euros. Portugal definitely look a lot stronger. Do you think Pepe will start for you in the Euros?

Should be 3-0 at least. Pure domination.

Stupid goal to concede. Mbappe should not score from that angle. Apart from that we have played well.

Is it? Not sure what the new rule is, and if it came out recently, but as per the earlier rules, that wouldn't have been a pen.
He could't have reacted faster, his hand was within body frame and not really flung out.
The rule is if it’s handball and the arm is in an unnatural position then it’s a penalty. His hand was in an unnatural position. Hence it was rightly given as a penalty.

Similar to how we got the penalty against PSG.

Think Jan Andersson is a great manager. Victor Lindelöf and Emil Forsberg are probably the only players available of good quality and Sweden are still able to cause France problems.

Based on him being one of the most coveted defenders in the game. Us, City, Barca, and Lyon were all sniffing around, and he'll definitely be moving on next summer. Based on him having those attributes on the ball, but also being much better in the air than Lindelof, much more assertive in the tackle, and also is a mainstay in one of the best international teams in the world.

Benfica have no need to sell Ruben this season, after the amount of money they've made in the last 24 months, so his new contract suits both sides, but he will move on and he will be a world class defender. Really not sure why you'd bother arguing that.

When Ronaldo was in his prime besides Nani and Moutinho the team was trash BUT now Portugal has a lot of real quality on this team.

We don’t Have any Ronaldo level player coming through (probably won’t for 40 years) but what we do have now is a legit TEAM. Solid players and talent on almost every position of the pitch and it is very exciting to see and makes me excited for our future!

A 28 year old Ronaldo mixed in with these lads would of been incredible.

Any France supporters here?

I can’t understand why on Earth the world champions are playing 3 at the back with 2 full backs as wing backs. Essentially 5 at the back.

Seems terribly negative tactics.

It was a pen. 2 replays nota bene. You should be furious if it were your team because Gomez was as dumb as Walker there.
Come on man! I like the ENgland team, but that defender had his arm wrapped to his chest. There is nothing he could have done there to prevent the ball from hitting his arm

Ahh you’re an Iceland fan. Fair enough. I understand the passion.
Yeah, being icelandic was great 2016, but now we are facing reality again (population is ca 360.000 in Iceland) so getting a draw against England would’ve been great.
But I’m proud of the team, England didn’t create any chances and yet we were missing 4-5 key players.
I was expecting a hammering, but we almost got a draw, it can be hard to take so soon after the game.

Ask @JPRouve. He'll give you a more informed insight on France matters.

Sorry but that’s not true. Lindelof at Benfica was a much superior player then Ruben. Ruben is lot terrible but not a world beater either. He is a stepping stone for other talented CB coming through eventually. He is a starter because no one else can be at this stage. Hence why pepe still plays.

Understand on Ronaldo but what about someone to finally let Pepe rest.

Surely Portugal have some talent to challenge him?

He has to, there's noone else. Our third CB is Fonte who is the same age

That's the one area I'm concerned, Pepe will be 38 at the Euros. The thought of him having to run after Mbappe, Werner or Sane in the group stages is pretty scary. He's gone through some bad patches of form at Porto too but he usually steps his game up when it matters so I'm hoping things will work out.

I don't know, I hate that idea and hate back threes. It's apparently a way to fit 2 strikers and Griezmann behind them. but a 4312 would do the same thing.
