There's no way Sancho comes United if it doesn't happen this window. He won't be any cheaper next year and there will be others in for him as well.

Doesnt make sense why they wouldn't just shut down speculation and move on rather than drip-feed leaks and briefs if they don't plan to eventually follow through though. But then expecting 'sense' from the board and glazers feels a bit naive.

Us not being able to raise any funds from our duds, and still having so many on mad wages is making this impossible for the board to sanction.

I think they thought they could raise a decent chunk of this fee from moving on the likes of Rojo, Smalling, Dalot and Romero, and in the same breath opening up wages to bring him in. This hasn't been possible. Our squad players are impossible to move on due to their wages and quality.

We just seem to be between a rock and a hard place due to the overall financial situation, and our own total failings in keeping low quality players on extortionate wages.
When I said we'd be lucky to get £30m for all of our deadwood some posters said I was an idiot. Yet there's no sign anyone of them is a sellable asset besides Smalling, and Roma ain't pushing the boat out on him.

There are too many alternatives on the market. Villa went for the Arsenal keeper not Romero, Newcastle have boxed smart and gone for Bournemouth players not the likes of Lingard.

We will not get anywhere near our unrealistic values for players like Rojo and Jones. We are paying the price now for renewing the contracts of players who should have been let go but weren't cos someone thought we might get a few quid for them.

Sancho is not coming this summer. Let's stop pretending.

I know there’s a lot of bullshit that gets banded about, especially on twitter which leads to meltdowns and anxiety.

But sieving the crap from the truth, let’s not forget that Utd mouthpiece James Cooper mentioned a few weeks ago that the fee and the structure would not be a problem. He would not be briefed that if we did not have the means to sign him. The fact that was even briefed tells me this will get done no matter what it takes. Utd are just being Jewish and trying to get the best price.
He also said that agent fees and Wages weren’t agreed but there had been movement on them when everyone else was saying they’d been agreed. He also said United were prepared to walk away as they feel Dortmunds asking price is unrealistic in Covid times and he wouldn’t be surprised if that happened.

Fecking hell.

You'd be forgiven for thinking something had actually happened in that time!

Liverpool are struggling to muster £25m for Thiago. And the Italians currently don't have any capabilities or wherewithall to carry out and spend the outlay required.
With the AFC beckoning the season after, I could see Liverpool ship off one of Mane/Salah for big money and replace him the hottest british thing on the wings. And it would be Jürgen calling, so who knows, there might even be a Jürgen discount..

However, I do still have confidence that this deal will go through this summer. We took an age to agree to terms with Sancho, and we'll take a while to agree the fee with Dortmund. It's just what we do.
If the time it took you with the player side is anything to go by, then this is truly dead. Window is closing in 3 weeks, after all

I keep hearing this, but who are these clubs? Barca, who are as financially fecked as a young blonde thing literally is in a Blacked scene? Real, who are in the midst of an expensive stadium redevelopment slap bang in the middle of a pandemic, and who in any case will be having their eyes on Mbappe? Chelsea are well and truly stacked there, with the price being too prohibitive. He's persona non grata at City while Pep is there, and like Madrid with Mbappe, they will likely only have eyes for Messi. Liverpool are struggling to muster £25m for Thiago. And the Italians currently don't have any capabilities or wherewithall to carry out and spend the outlay required.

There are going to be at least 2 or 3 other superstar or potential superstar players available next summer in Messi, Mbappe, Haaland, maybe even Neymar. And even if there is an auction situation, Utd fought their way through to the front of the pack pre-pandemic, and if they need to, they'll do the same next summer.

I've got little to no worries on that front.

However, I do still have confidence that this deal will go through this summer. We took an age to agree to terms with Sancho, and we'll take a while to agree the fee with Dortmund. It's just what we do.
I wasn't particularly meaning the fee. If Ole thinks he is vital for us, he might be worried about any progress we have made last season could be lost. He might want to go somewhere to win something. I understand that other clubs have money problems. His fee might drop as another year goes off his contract, he might get injured, he might lose form. A lot of what ifs could come into play. I know they are what ifs, but what ifs do happen.

It's kinda funny. The one thing we had going for us in recent times was that we were rich. Even that doesn't seem to be working for us anymore.

I think they missed the Salah/Mane/Firmino sale for big money window last summer. Their collective productivity has only trended downwards since that freakish first season they had together in 2017/18. Sure, one or two of them might have the odd freak game like Salah did on Saturday, but I don't see it being as consistent as before.

The pandemic is unprecedented. If Dortmund's finance cannot be work out maybe kick out of champion in the group stages. They will see to the highest bidder. If our finance hold up, we might just be still in front of the queue maybe more or less than current quoted price. No worries.

United are playing a very dangerous game. Fans are at the tipping point now. If The Sancho deal doesn’t materialise and DVB is our only Summer signing, Woodward and the Glazers are going to be absolutely destroyed from all angles.

And what are the fans going to do? Rant on Twitter? Oh how will they ever survive that?

That's fair, but I see it the other way. If you look at our team, the undeniably best parts of our team and squad are all very, very young and they will all naturally improve their consistency as time goes on. Having Bruno and Pogba back and hopefully fit for the majority of the season can only be a good thing as well. That we'll make progress this coming season, is a given to me. The only question is, how much will we progress by? With Sancho, I'd expect us to progress by a heck of a lot, potentially getting closer to 2nd rather than a distant 3rd or 4th. Without Sancho, I'd say it would be the same 3rd/4th place but markedly more comfortable than last year.

After all, you have to remember, we got to three semis and 3rd with most of the season being played by players such as Lingard, Mata, Pereira, Fred, McTominay and James (I appreciate the last three being included with the preceding three is a tad bit unfair as I do think they are good-decent squad players). That (injuries permitting) simply will not happen this season.

His fee won't go down either. He has three years left on his contract as of now. And according to Ornstein, his second priority after CL football was financial. We blew the others out the water on that front pre-pandemic, and we'd no doubt do the same next summer if it came down to it.

Forget them /their image getting destroyed (doesn't seem to make a difference). Ineptitude in the market can see us going through another 7 years like the ones we've seen gone by.

That's why he will be a United player before the window closes. Most of us muppets here are certain of that

Maybe Dortmund do need the money but at they same time, they could always borrow. Maybe they have calculated it, if the interest is low compared to getting full price for Sancho transfer, not COVID price, it's worth it to hold on till next year. Perhaps that is why they don't want to reduce it.

How are they playing?

They are either willing to spend the stupid figures BD want or negotiate it down. It’s ridiculous money for Sancho and I don’t blame them for stalling.

Based on absolutely nothing, I'm feeling strangely confident this deal is going to happen this week.

So, yeah, happy SanchON day I guess.

Precisely, to the highest bidder. Which seems an odd thing for United get involved in next summer when we have a free run at him in this one.

Now or never.

The club runs on hundreds of millions of debt anyways. Finance isn't an excuse if the ambition is there.

Who said we had a free run this year?
We do have a free run right now. Next year he's going to cost more and have more teams after him. So after this summer he's off to Madrid, barca or any other team that's not United. Because if they don't want to spend 120m on him, they sure as hell aren't going higher next year. Unless we get lucky.

It's been 2 months since the first reports stated that the club had made a bid for Sancho.

Surely if it was happening it wouldn't take that long to come to some kind of agreement.

I just can't see it happening due to how long this has gone on for.

We were linked with Maguire for an entire year
