With the likes of Kean, Iwobi and Gylfi on the bench this has to be the strongest Everton side in years.

If we don't hammer Palace later, I'm gonna be so depressed. :(

It feels like a big game. We had a big moment last week by beating a top team away from home which is very rare for us so it is vital we get a win today to set the tone for the rest of the season.
I bet you you're feeling good looking at the result so far. DCL looking deadly at the moment and very impressed with how James is settling in.

At this moment in time the PL has Pep and Klopp, the undisputed top managers in the world. Then we have Jose, Ancelotti, Biesla, Nuno and Brendan who have a lot to offer. Arteta, Lampard and Ole are in charge of the traditional top 4 clubs and just by virtue of their teams will be up there. This is going to be a proper premier league season.

More like proper battle for 4th and Europa places.

Carlo is doing wonders for him. He now gets his third.
I remember comparing him to Jonathan Walters in his thread with a bit more talent. Mostly being quicker and a better dribbler.

Similarities were that both often work their arse off, both decent if not overwhelmingly dominant in the air, both a physical presence who are happy to throw their weight about and up until Ancellotti arrived their goal out it was about the same.

Now he's improved on that DCL is markedly ahead of any level Walters reached.

It looked like minimal contact.
There was contact and the player, understandably, fell to the ground, thus Gibbs punished and James let off. What you deem as minimal is another discussion.

It's not exclusive. Can be pushed, but also can be a cheating prick.

But there's no system in England (or anywhere really) for that, so that's why he was not, and will not be punished.
At no point did I say those things are mutually exclusive, and it’s not a matter of having a system. Gibbs took violent action and James fell. That’s all there is to it, and why James wasn’t punished.

If you guys want to police how a player should react when they get pushed/shoved in the face then please proceed, but it’s pretty easy to see why one was punished and the other isn’t, which is all I was responding to.

Have to say Everton look like top 4 contenders so far. Well deserved away win last week and now showing class in a game that is usually very tough. Everton fans might be in for a fun ride this season.

Not sure about that. The defence and goalkeeper will hold them back

No, top 6 may be. Top 8 for sure.

It wouldn't be a surprise seeing them challenge for top 4. They have one of the top 3 managers in the league (easily), they built a very good team where they can say there isn't a huge difference in quite a few positions between the top clubs or they even come on top in (fullbacks, dm, front 3). Thats a recipe to be top 4 challengers.

The red card changed everything, but it is not good to see Everton picking up 6 points in two matches.
We don't need Everton in the mix with Leicester and Wolves for the fourth place!

People getting way too hyped on Everton. They’re playing a 10 man Championship side today and at 11 v 11 were getting pushed back plenty.
Indeed. Let's not get carried away yet. The red card changed it all.

James deal looks like such a coup for Everton. No transfer fee involved. Absolute madness.

Everton's next match is against Brighton.
The Merseyside derby will be interesting as both teams may be on 9 points each.

Also it’s amazing how good this transfer season has been during a pandemic. The league is loaded with talent and those that don’t keep up are going to be in serious trouble.

Already 27 goals have been scored in only 8 completed PL matches - 3.4 goals per match!
