He looked very calm and comfortable on the ball yesterday. I wasn´t that impressed with him the few minutes he played at the end of last season, but yesterday he actually looked like a player. One friendly match is not much to go by, but I thought he were one of the top performers yesterday, together with McTominay, VDB and Shaw.
He was very good at CB but just ok at DM. Got stuck in a couple of times, held his position alright, but did nothing out of the ordinary.

He must have been fantastic in training.
Surely must be punishment to AWB for breaking the rules and going to the Emirates, TFM shouldn't be starting at all.

Thought he was quite good today, one of the few to come out of the game with any sort of pride intact.
Probably should have moved him inside to cb to deal with the pace.
Was solid. The fact that I'm saying that just shows how poor we were because it's not like he was good. Was one of our better players though.

He s still a bit rusty , but improving all the time. He ll gets better, people often forget how long he was out injured.

Solid game today and our best player on the pitch before Donny came on.
He offered something different to AWB, he cuts inside and makes himself available for passes and tries to run between the line. It was refreshing to see, and he dragged the ball across the goal a few times but no one was there to meet them.
He played safe 90% of the time today. But do we really need to play safe?
I thought he was fine today as well. put in a great cross that Mason should have scored.

Not really a RB and has hardly played for us, so in context I thought he did ok.

I'm sorry but I'm really not convinced with him at all. I can't see him as even a valuable squad option in such position long term.
One of our better players, specially in the second half. But that’s not saying much, since everyone was very poor. Still, did good for a backup or 2nd backup.

Whenever I see this guy at fullback, I ask myself whether it's some sort of long running joke that I'm not aware of. Lad gives it his best, but he's quite clearly a centre back. Really odd that everyone just assumes he's a fullback.
He is versatile enough to play across the back line and did not look any different than Williams usually does today. His natural position is CB but I'm not sure if he can ever reach a level to play consistently in the PL, at full back he can get away with a bit more when he's out of position.
Far from United´s worst player today. Delivered some decent balls into the box and should have had an assist on Greenwood´s header.
Have you watched us at all over the last season? None of our back 6 are particularly good at this. Maguire and Lindelof are atrocious with the ball.

Agree with the consensus. Was fairly good today, as was Shaw.
It's September 2020 and our best defender in our first game of the season was Timothy Fosu Mensah...
As many have said not bad but our right side is so poor, just not in the game at all when our midfield drifts left. I think TFM is a good squad player and at this point might get some time at CB this season.
