I'm not Biden's biggest fan but I thought he did as well as he could.
Yeah, with that and this tweet shortly afterExcept Stand back and stand by is a call to arms and not just a failure to condemn white supremacy. Which isn't far away from "levying war against the state", which is actually Treason under Federal and probably State law. Just wow.

The concensus is that this was a clusterfeck for Trump. Floating voters will mostly be pushed to Biden.Trump wins this. Seen enough clips this morning to know Trump will win. Anyone who watched Live will have their mind made up. The highlights is where it's won.
Trump's Tone of voice was much more direct, Any point Biden tried to make he was shot down by Trump. Biden tone is weak, aged, he even looks tired. His movement is slow.
Feck me. 4 more years of this p***k
Nah, have to strongly disagree. Trump looked like a buffoon who will only appeal to his base. Look at the numbers, Biden only needs to win the Rust Belt and these «debates» are unlikely to move the needleTrump wins this. Seen enough clips this morning to know Trump will win. I didn't see the debate and just saw the clips and thought Trump looked like an absolute p***k and toddler. Biden was trying to keep it civil. It is like when a drunk idiot on a train next to you is shouting random crap and you are trying to avoid him as much as possible. I don't see how this helps Trump.Trump wins this. As will any plan to tackle obesity or any plan to conserve clean water or any plan to end world hunger. Few things have such a large negative impact on our planet as our habit of eating animals.Being realistic, any plan to tackle climate change will require a reduction in animal agriculture..
And the counter point will be 'lol they want to ban cow farts'As will any plan to tackle obesity or any plan to conserve clean water or any plan to end world hunger. Few things have such a large negative impact on our planet as our habit of eating animals.

This guy was apparently also moaning that Biden doesn’t support Medicare for all and the Green New Deal last night, as if that was somehow not already known going in.Tweet

This year’s debates are really more about galvanizing the base and getting the very few undecideds left to make up their minds. Trump probably helped keep most of his base on board but in the process probably also turned off a lot of undecideds with his cartoonishly negative antics.Reading online it seems some people think that this debate will convince some Trump supporters to stop supporting him. In what world is this debate the final straw for anyone
Wait your facts don't support the Trump yelling incoherently is awesome showman stuff and sleepy Joe is just as bad narrative! So confused.Tweet

Agreed. Trump tends to struggle when he’s forced to talk policy and adhere to any kind of debate structure, then melts down when he can’t insult and bully his way through exchanges.Wait your facts don't support the Trump yelling incoherently is awesome showman stuff and sleepy Joe is just as bad narrative! All Biden had to do from this was come out neutral. I think he did.
Trump had a huge opportunity to gain ground and appeal to fence voters: all he achieved was making the fringes of his cult a little uncomfortable.
I'd cancel the other debates if this is how Trump is going to do it.

Wallace did as much as he could without shouting at Trump to shut up when Biden was speaking. Hopefully the next moderator sort out how to deal with him before the next debate.
Learned nothing new but for most causal observers it was a prominent reminder of both people's failings. And given Trump has been more visible among casual observers over the last few weeks, and his failings are never hidden, it might make more of a difference to Biden. So we learned nothing new.
Doesn't mean much if almost all of the people that think less of Trump now are dem voters anyway, which is entirely plausible. I wonder how many people that are saying Trump came off worse time were also saying Trump came off worse last time.Tweet

It seems a really odd phrase to use. Was he feeling threatened and just blurted out a call to arms for one of his more aggressive support groups, or is there some reason that could ever have been a useful thing to say?It really baffles me how someone can openly give a shout out to racists groups in a presidential debate and that isn't an automatic death call for their chances. America really is a messed up place, where nearly half the country will still back him and not even question the statement. How fox and co spin it should be entertaining at least, if they even both to mention that part at all.
No idea what he was thinking. I've only watched the shortened highlight clips, but from what I could tell he was being pressured to make a simple statement saying he doesn't support white supremacy, and ended up giving a call to arms for the Proud Boys instead. I would have thought he could easily give a generic statement saying he is against all forms of racism, including against white people, and his base would have just gone the whole *wink wink* we can read between the lines thing they always do.It seems a really odd phrase to use. As if you need more than a few minutes to know the difference between Biden and Trump, aside from the fact they're both old white men. People that disengaged are an embarrassment to their democracy.Or they have a busy life and don't pay attention until its election time
Just because we all have hours to waste on the Internet doesn't mean everyone else does

It was one of the few things I saw live and the proud boys mention was almost entirely unprompted. He was asked to condemn racism, he tried to deflect to antifa, he was pressed to condemn right wing antics and he said he would then tried to deflect back onto antifa, he was pressed again and then asked who specifically he should call out, right wing extremism is reiterated and he just jumps in with the proud boys comment. It just looked like one of those moments where he was pushed to the point where he had to say the most honest thing he thought at the time, desperate to stoke support among the people he likes. I hear you, but it is basically impossible to discuss with a maniac like Trump. Biden should refuse to do the last two debates on the grounds of not wanting to legitimize a racist president.I don't follow US politics at all, I'm admittedly very naive in matters re this. but I tuned in for this. It was a shitshow from start to end. Trump as per, was his usual self, I knew what to expect from him. It was Biden who disappointed me. In my naivety I was hoping a career politician would wipe the floor with a chancer like Trump, fact check him on numbers, push him on his delayed reaction to covid etc. He at times tried and was for the most part shouted down by Trump, but he's been around the block long enough to be able to deflect from these types of bullying tactics. Trump was spouting stats, I'm no expert but he has previous for making factually inaccurate statements, Biden really didn't challenge him on them. I thought the moderator/presenter was awful. Sad day for american politics when there are the 2 best you have to fight it out for the president.
