So Roma are embarrassed by United wanting the market value for a player. Trying to shame a club into accepting a cheaper deal, I’ve seen it all now . Pay up or feck off to another target or wait a few months. Whole thing is tedious, Mike has a price United will sell for, pay it or don’t.
Clubs disagree about players value/price all the time, feels like it´s more about the handling of the move?

According to Italian media, Roma initially offered 9.5m euros for Smalling. Yesterday they increased this figure to 15-16m. United want 20m euros.

Would be mad if we are haggling over the 5m euros at this late stage.

We know how you feel Roma, trust me

The amount of similar comments from numerous of our transfer dealings in recent times paints a picture that we've got an unenviable reputation around Europe when it comes to transfers.

Not surpriwed at all when we're ran by assclowns in suits
what? We're asking for a certain fee and they won't pay up? I suppose Dortmund are being embarrassing with our pursuit of Sancho too? Sounds like a quote for social media clicks; that's how the media's run these days. The Caf laps it up.

But we are only doing what every other club do with us. We want our valuation of the player the same way Porto and Dortmund do. Why should we accept a lower price when no one will do the same for us.

This situation regarding Chris Smalling is the perfect example of the club we’ve become.

The guy has been here for ten seasons. By no stretch of the imagination is he a club legenden but no one can deny that he’s been a great servant, giving his all for the club.

Now WE, the club, not him, has decided he’s not wanted any more. He secures a move to Roma, does well, his family likes it there, everything is prefect. All he wants now is to play out the last couple of years he has left of his career at Roma. What do we do....make it f-ing impossible for him and his family by haggling over a fee. I can’t even imagine how Chris feels. Jesus Christ....we don’t want him so just let him go.

Look at all other clubs. Barcelona said they didn’t want a few players that’s been there for multiple years anymore, found them new clubs and let them leave pretty much for free. No problem. The club doesn’t respect the players Anymore, it’s all numbers now with these a-holes. During the Sir Alex/ Gills period this would’ve been done a long time ago and Chris, his wife and little baby would be in Rome now, happy and feeling good after the clubs respectful treatment of the situation and payback after giving ten flipping years of hard work for Manchester United.

Rant over...

It's been 8 already? Man.
Yes but the sponsorships, the profits, the Glazers payments. Don't forget about the finances.

They want to keep Sancho, United do not want Smalling.

But your right, if they want him they should pay the asking price.

You don't put a price tag on a player if you intend to keep the player you would simply say not for sale unless Dortmund has communicated that to United it's just matter of agreeing the fee for the player similar to Smalling with us ,It seems both United and Dortmund have respective valuations for their players if they are matched deals would be done otherwise they stay.

How exactly is it mad? We should sell our players for peanuts and pay the full asking price when we buy them I guess, surely the way to go.

Over and over again with the inappropriate Sancho comparisons for players United want to get off their payroll. Sancho is a key player for Dortmund, they want to keep him.

Smalling on the other hand is a player who was loaned out and all three parties involved had an interest to make it permanent and therefore find a common ground on the monetary side of things.

Why would you even compare this?

So final weekend of transfer window...imagine if someone had said back in July that wed be limping over the line at the back of the pack in terms of activity compared to rivals....

I mean to continue the analogy we don’t look like crossing the line at all let alone limping over it. If our only business is VDB (which looks a real possibility at the moment) while literally all of the other “top 6” have significantly strengthened then my optimism from the end of last season will be completely killed.

“We’re going to take advantage of the transfer market”.

Or... Maybe not!

Too good to be true. Like him, there's a player there, but I'm not sure he suits how we play, but if we can get that sort of money for him after the season he had? Yeah sell. Shame its utter bobbins most likely.

While I agree just sell him we are not a charity. Smalling has been paid a sht load and given all the opportunities at a great club. We dont owe him anything. He owes us - he has a contract. And we also dont owe Roma sht. He was CB of the season in Italy. Great player for them. 20 mill euros is a steal. They offered 10. Thats a piss take. Why are they haggling over 5 mill? Just pay it. Why are we always the bad guys. Just keep him for 15 million euros. I dont care he doesnt want to be a reserve and he wants to live in Rome with his family and eat gelato. Get the frig on the bench and sht up. You are under contract.

If that's true we surely bite their hand off? If our offer for Sancho is short £10-15m surely some of that money goes to Dortmund?

We're asking for a certain fee for one of the best defenders in Serie A last season. People keep giving out about how badly our club is run (which I absolutely agree with), but if we want to get our money's worth for one of the few bits of deadwood that's actually good, people are complaining? I'd rather sell him for less than his value than not sell him at all (if the money's being reinvested in the squad), but we need to let clubs know they're not shopping in the bargain basement when they come for our players. Look what Liverpool are getting for theirs! (I know it's because of wages, but the difference in fees is astronomical) Smalling's much older than Brewster, but has done far more than him in his career and is worth about £15m IMO

We are always the bad guys, it's how it is. Porto asking €20m for a fullback who is not even that good really and with 1 year left of contract, many fans just shouting "pay whatever they ask and move on". When we ask a reasonable fee for Smalling who already proved to be a valuable asset to Roma during his loan, we apparently should lower the fee and accept whatever peanuts Roma are offering. Typical.

Sell and pay the Sancho money. Just don't sell him without getting anyone in though.

Exactly, we're doing the right thing holding out for our valuations. No other clubs give us price breaks so why the hell should we!

Its obviously all set in the context of us not signing anyone in our most urgent positions yet. It seems like we might be relying on the smalling money to conplete other transfers therefore its very important to get it done quickly. On telles if he is not that good maybe we should be aiming to sign a good one! I would personally have taken reguillon release clause or not. I think people are frustrated because we seem to be coming up with a never ending list of reasons why we cant sign players while other clubs are just getting their business done

£25mil for Dan James, for Christ's sake take it and run!

Honestly feel he is one of the poorest players to wear out shirt in the last 20 years.

Itll be Ole out, not Glazers out.. if we end up not achieving anything.

The rubbish transfer window will only be argued about for a few weeks, then everyone will start blaming Ole, and I can see him getting the sack.

Nothing the fans can do to get rid of Glazers.

Disagree, Ole is different.

Van Gaal and Mourinho aren't club legends.

The board have completely ballsed this window up and it will come back on them not Ole.
