My first impression, based only on youtube clips of course, is that Pellistri looks much better than Traore. Traore looks too much raw for me. Pellistri has beautiful ball control and is mobile as feck in short spaces. I love that.
If i don't know better i would say that price for Traore is 10 mil and for Pellistri is 40.

Anyway, can't wait to see Pellistri in action

I vote Pellistri. Mainly because I guess it's pronounced Pay-ees-tree. Like an Italian trying to say 'pastry'.

I'd have the descriptions the other way around. Pellistri looks a bit clunky when he's running with the ball whereas Diallo seems to have Messi like feet when there's numerous players around him.

It s very difficult to pass judgement based on s couple of youtube videos.

What s for sure is that both of them are highly rated. They re still far from the finished product of course.

Much depends on how they adjust. This may take time. Hopefully fans will show patience with them (most of fans already do that )

First we have Rashford vs Martial on the left
Now we have Diallo vs Pellistri on the right
Next season maybe we
will have Greenwood vs Haaland up front?

If I'm not mistaken Pellistri is one of those "football babies" program from Uruguay, right? Same as Cavani/Suarez.

He'll be great.

Pellistri's dribbling reminds me of Kaka's but out wide.

I'm not sure he has the ability to shoot or cross from outwide so far as a young player so I wouldn't be surprised if his role changes to the centre the more he develops.

Traore has the finishing abilities and crossing of a wider player alongside pace and dribbling so I can see him being a RW players adding to the fact he is a left footed player aswell.

It's chong vs traore for a position out wide - one will go depending on the progress.

Diallo is apparently more of a dribbler with decent end product.

Pellistri is a playmaker who does a job coming in from the flank.

I could perhaps see Diallo developing into a forward and Pellistri into a #10. Maybe long (long) term replacements for Martial (24) and Bruno (26).

Pellistri looks like a wide playmaker, if anything.

Based purely on ex-player comments and reading reports there's something of the x-factor about Pellistri. Having Cavani there to help him settle will be a big bonus too. Surely one day we'll sign a South American who turns out to be a world beater (assuming Alex Telles doesn't beat him to that title) ?!? # insert fingers crossed emoji #

I know literally nothing about either but I'm going to say Diallo, 100%.

Should we not still be looking to bring in more of a natural RW then like a Buendia/Sarr if Pellistri is more of a wide playmaker type player rather than a winger then

You realise you're asking the opinion of a man who's watched a couple of YouTube videos of these players?

Diallo has better fashion sense than Pellistri.

Pellistri’s coup looks like mine in the morning after getting completely pellistried the night before.

Yeah certainly do but either of the two I mentioned are better than bringing Lingard/Mata off the bench

It's a tough one.

Pellistri sounds like a combinition of Pallister and Messi....but then Diallo rhymes with Cristiano.

Thread title should be: Diallo AND Pellistri

Why the hell does it have to be either/or.

This looks spot on from the Youtube videos, he is just very lightweight but good good pace on him. I do wonder if he will end being loaned next season as he looks too raw to be playing PL games.

I agree with @TwoSheds that I have only watched these players on YouTube.

However the RW situation is highly dependent on Greenwood in my eyes.

Whilst many people are so sure that the guy is made to play as a centre forward - the fact is that he hasnt really adapted to that in the first team yet.

Can he do it? Most likely yes. Has he done it? Not really. Now that we have Cavani as another striker this makes Greenwood's opportunity as a CF even lower than before.

Greenwood performances as a RW is nothing to necessarily cry about either.

Why do I bring Greenwood up? Because currently our CF in Martial can play a supportive role of interlinking our wide forwards of Rashford & Greenwood. Whilst everyone is talking about Cavani's predatory abilities in the box - its usually forgotten that cavani can play as a supportive striker like a target man that brings others in to play aswell. This leaves Greenwood out wide with traore competing for that spot because they play as inverted forwards.

However, if Greenwood plays centrally or if Cavani is playing more as an ageing predatory striker then can we really play inverted forwards who score goals or do we need more creative ones out wide instead? We arguably have a single fullback (telles) who provides crosses and no one else in the first team except James when playing out wide.

This is why players like Sancho, Beundia, Pellistri and Sarr maybe required when we change our CF's and adapt to their needs. We might need that creativity out wide one day if we stick to a 4231 or 433 and have our CF be our main predominant goalscorer rather than the goalscoring ability spread across the front line and inverted forwards.

If we change to a 352, Greenwood can play centrally with another forward - however in such a formation do we need Sarr, Sancho, Pellistri or Buendia? I'm not so sure.

It's not that I'm over hyping Greenwood as a player - it's the fact that clinical left footed forwards like him are exceptionally rare and useful. He has the ability to play as an inverted forward in a 4231 or 433 or play as a right sided striker in a partnership in a 352.

Traore for me is also a inverted forward directly competing for the goalscoring positions Greenwood plays in (wide in a 433 or more right sided in a 352 partnership). Pellistri is more a creative player that will be useful when such forwards plays as a central striker instead and require them to be our predominant goalscorer.

When you look at Zlatan during Jose's time - you could see the inverted forwards not interlinking as well and Zlatan needed that creativity to be the main goalscorer (hence why jose was going for a player like perisic).

As good as Willian is - does his creativity on the RW help when Aubameyang is played out wide and Lacazette is in the centre? would they be better if nicolas pepe was more consistent in his gameplay & his goalscoring abilities out wide on the right - allowing arsenal to have two goalscorers around a supportive striker?

Pellestri based off nothing.

At 40m euros Diallo comes in with a lot more pressure. Pellestri was basically the same fee we paid for Hannibal.

Is @antohan still lurking around? As the caf Uruguayan resident, I'd like to know what he thinks about Pellistri
Haven't seen much more than everyone else tbh. What I have seen is consistent with the opinion of most locals who have seen more of him: kid has the skill and the spunk, but needs to work on end product.

Forget our coaching, it will help him no end to have Cavani around. That will likely fast forward his development and keep him grounded, patient and working hard which is at least half the job with young talents.

I'm not really into these versus threads, but are they going to be plying their trade integrating with the senior squad, or will they be playing in the reserves first? or one or the other?

Thanks.
I like the bolded part. I read an article about him that mentioned that whenever he got hacked by the opponent, he'll got up and still ask for the ball. No fear at all. Which reminds me of what Ferguson said about Ronaldo that convinced him he's gonna be a top player. He mentioned how fearless Ronaldo that even when he was kicked left right center by the opponents he still get up and try to make something happen

Elanga will be better than Chong in my opinion. No idea how the new signings match up mind you. Interesting that we’ve gone so long with no right wing to suddenly having four right wing prospects though.

Surely if the plan is for them to play with the reserves first then why on earth aren't we looking to still bring in either Buendia/Sarr to play in league and FA Cup games too

Not even up to 48hrs after their announcement and there's a thread comparing both of them. :nono:

Why the Caf does this I'll never know, Change thread topic to Diallo & Facu instead!
