Hes a myth in terms of achievement, his die hard fans paint him in the mould of taking a mid table club to the verge of the title. Redknapp did more for Spurs than Poch ever did in breaking into the top 4, Jol and him built the platform for him.
Poch benefited from the demise of Arsenal and United and had a world class striker in Kane to fall back on. Saying Poch is better than Ole is just a opinion, theres not much to back it up unless theres enough comparable data to make a concrete conclusion.
The irony of all of this being that every thing here can be applied to Ole on an even greater magnitude. Poch is overhyped for making the CL final but you had no problem hyping Ole on the basis of his top 6 record. His competition was weak? Well you know where we can take this regarding Ole's PL competition last season. Anyone can be discredited this way. It's okay if it's your opinion Ole's better though, you're entitled to it

Yeah, and plenty of fans that believe everything they read and drink that stuff up. Didnt get 300m in targets, poor Ole, I am sure he's not as pedantic as Jose in that regard.
And plenty of fans drink up the fact Jose was sacked because of his remarks and not because results looked like he wouldn't make top 4 which is all this clubs cares about.
If results don't improve Ole will get sacked regardless of if he speaks out or not

Laurie Whitwell is a reporter for Athletic with genuine sources at the club in fairness.
It's so vague, oh course if results don't improve he's obviously in trouble, but if he loses or draws the next game I don't expect anything to happen. Come December and the title and CL is gone and the only hope is top 4 again and maybe a domestic cup or Europa than yes, he's probably going to get sacked

So we should aspire to become as ridiculous as that? Should we start bringing white handkerchiefs to OT as well? La Liga is a two horse race where everything besides a league title and a CL medal is seen as failure. Just because Ferguson spolied us does not mean we can have those kinds of demands, because they are simply not realistic in the current climate.

And its not about sentimentally. Its about accepting the fact that we currently are a level below the best teams and we wont get back up there overnight. Just changing manager and hoping for a magic fix wont solve it when we all know that there are other more pressing problems that needs to be addressed
We already are far more ridiculous than them. The whole managerial cult is the most cringeworthy part of any european football club. Our fans already are as disgraceful in their treatment of their own players as the Madrid fans are. Ours are also just massive hypocrites at the same time, who believe it's wrong to ever level any criticism of the manager though.

So why are we constantly expecting the club to break transfer records if we're not allowed to expect anything on the pitch? Why were we demanding the club to sign Sancho for 100m this summer and have assemble a squad that has the most expensive defender, midfielder and forward in the league?

Where am I hyping anything? I like how you have just made that up and decided to put words in my mouth...
I am saying the grass is not necessarily greener with Poch incharge

Jose has reputation. A lot of people that lap up a similar story are trying to angle the same outcome.
Getting sacked for bad results for any manager is a given, but the duration counts.

It's not vague at all. The sources have confirmed they are looking at contingencies already and know who they want to replace him.

That confirms 1) a lack of faith in Ole, 2) a willingness to pull the plug and 3) who we know theyl go for as a first choice.

Last year Ole should have been sacked at different stages and never was, so it suggests the patience won't be as strong this year.

If you want anything more speicifc than that, you won't get it. Because we aren't at a stage to know whether Ole turns it around or not. But just because it's high level doesn't mean it's suddenly made up BS.

Same stories were being reported this time last year. Fans that wanted Ole sacked were lapping it up, go check the sack/keep Ole out thread, lots of angry fans that he managed to turn it around

As I said, Laurie Whitwell is a credible source and wasn't spouting the same stories last season.

If the daily mirror or whoever did it, it's another story. And sure it should be ignored. When a credible journalist actually puts out the information, it should be looked at.

Man Utd keeping tabs on Ralf Rangnick as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer contingency plan
During a Q&A for The Athletic, Honigstein was asked whether there is any truth in speculation linking Rangnick to the Old Trafford hot-seat.

“I know for a fact that United are keeping very close tabs on him,” he said.
The Athletic is one of the most reliable sources, but i am sure it still has a certain degree of sensationalism.
There probably tabs always kept, and on a lot of managers but that does not mean a replacement is imminent.

Come on. There is plenty of middle ground in between outright worship and calling a club legend a cnut and demand his head because your team lost a football match. Sure there is some venom in the player threads in here, but its not like OT is outright hostile to our own and hurl abuse at them all game. The times i've been there, the worst i experienced was towards Lukaku, and that was limited to groaning and people yelling at him to move his fat arse. Treating manager and players with some decency is not some cringy arselicking, i'd say its a pretty integral part of being a supporter

Hogenstein is the Germany correspondent. Laurie Whitwell is a United specific correspondent.

I think when a credible journalist with genuine club sources states we will look at Poch, its likely true.

Anyway, I just hope we don't wait 5-6 games of shit form to do it. What would be even worse is a false dawn under Ole which just delays the inevitable further.

I hope we don't replace Ole with Poch, that will be a false dawn in itself.

You're entitled to your opinion, but Poch is a far superior coach than Ole is.
You're entitled to your opinion, but there is nothing concrete to make such a claim like its a fact.

I dont rate Ole among the WC coaches, but nor do i rate Poch.

Poch has become this myth, his fan boys are seduced by the CL run.
If Poch takes the PSG job, I will be glad to have this thread closed and hopefully a better manager emerges as a candidate to replace Ole. Poch is in the same bracket as Rodgers and Howe and within that bracket I actually put them above him.
If Poch got given the PSG, Real, Barca, Chelsea, Juve or Bayern jobs, nobody would raise an eyebrow. Can you say the same for Ole? I'm sorry mate but you're well off the mark here. You're criminally underrating Poch, whilst also massively overrating Ole. The majority of PL teams would beg Poch to take over, nobody in the PL will even look at Ole.

"Ole in" brigade doesn't want Poch because he has no winning mentality or has never won anything. But that logic never gets applied when they want to keep Ole though. Ole shouldn't be anywhere near the club as a manager .

Point is , we need a replacement and that too asap. Doesn't matter who comes in at this point of time. We have tried winning managers but never worked. We have tried from our own it also didn't work. Let's try some upcoming hipster option.

No manager gives 100% guarantee. We just keep looking and hope we hit the jackpot somewhere.

Dismissing Ole will be fairly cheap and failure to reach the CL would be financially catastrophic. So I imagine they will get rid of Ole quite quickly if we don't start winning soon.

Can see Poch being in by December to be honest.

Koeman became Barca manager....

How about you actually give him a chance to make a claim. He did attract PL interest initially from his work at Molde after all, there were other clubs after him, not only Cardiff.
Poch was Spurs manager for 5 years and won nothing, and bottled multiple chances, if Spurs stuck with him, he potentially could have put a nail into his reputation, as it stands the mythology around him remains.

If Ole can repeat the same as last year, close the gap and win a trophy, he will move up in the reputation stakes.
That said Ole's also showed his bottling of chances, missing out on top 4 in his first (half season) year and not at least converting 3 semi finals into a final.

I think you are overrating Poch, I don't rate either that highly, if we get Poch, it would be more of a side step than anything.

I can't be arsed cause I've posted it a long time back, but just do a bit of research before posting inane stuff. How much did he spend in those five years? How much did Levy mistreat him and refused backing after he reached a CL final with a limited squad? You may hate Pochettino but let that hate not blind you to the extent that you say stuff like he is on the same level as OGS.

You may love Poch, but dont let that delude yourself and turn him into a myth, he had one season where did not spend anything. Poch also came into a team was on the way up and where Kane was emerging as a top striker. Remove Kane from the equation and Poch does the same thing through his work in the market and then you will be onto something

More like hiding behind pointless sarcasm innit?
Its a open pointless question, there were people that wanted Marco Silva at United at one point, now he would struggle to find a club, as i said if Poch stayed at Spurs and continued on their form and they finished mid table, his reputation would have diminished more than it has.

So much wrong in this post I don't really know what to say. Blinded by hate comes to mind though.

" He had one season where he did not spend"-
During the same five years United had a net spend of 120 mils per annum.

"Remove Kane from the equation"- why? Kane played his best footie under Poch's tutelage. By that logic you should remove Martial's from last seasons equation? How many points would that be?

You are welcome to actually back this up with substance rather than you just saying it so it must be true.
One has achieved more in the PL than the other, all whilst spending far less.
One has achieved more in the UCL than the other, all whilst spending far less.
Didn't think the obvious needed to be pointed out

Open pointless question or a blunt one you are too scared to answer. Your ilk cried foul about OGS not being backed after a 65 point season and scraping third on the last day, losing all cups and playing dour pointless football. What would you say to a manager not being backed after almost winning the league and CL?

We'll have definitely put the feelers out, and I dare say he'll be high up the list of the new managers we want.

We need to get Poch in at some stage, just so it doesn't forever hold over us like with Mourinho.
But you worry that until there's a change at the top and we actually try and run things for the benefit of the pitch not the coffers it doesn't matter as much who runs the team.

It'll be very awkward for some on here if Ole gets the sack and we appoint Poch. I mean, some have made a tonne of negative posts about Poch and some even claimed Ole is better.

I wonder will these posters pretend they never said anything negative about Poch and give him the same blind, unwavering support that they afford to Ole. It's going to be interesting if this Poch managing us scenario plays out.

Sorry but I guess English is not your first language. Can you please point out explicitly when did I say OGS has been at United for five years?
