Is next week the end of the template? After that time to think about selling Kane and/or Son?
Don’t think so personally. The run of hard games they have will be perfect for both to obtain hauls. Considering the space City affords teams who sit back and counter like Mourinho’s Spurs, I’d be inclined to captain Son that week too. That and he always rips City apart. Kane’s record against City isn’t great, but he shouldn’t be touched too as he’s the one assisting Son. Chelsea and Liverpool will be good games for them to score in as well.

I think for this poster it's a personal issue with Salah, rather than a logic question.
I have no personal issue with Salah at all. Just find it incredibly boring that most FPL players decide to basically have the exact same team, we had a rule before in our league where only 2 players could have the same player but ditched it this year, it was a mistake. Everyone in the league has Salah, Son and DCL, soon everyone will have Chilwell, Ziyech and Grealish, and the other players are pretty much templates as well with more than half ownership (Kane, Robertson). It gets to a point where you don't really celebrate your player scoring because every single player has him, or worse you want them to fail because someone else has captained them while you hadn't. Every week comes down to watching 2-3 players that you own that others don't and not caring much about the rest. I get that some people enjoy it but for me it's no fun at all.

If I bench Salah and he blanks I automatically get huge advantage over the rest of my league because they will all have him, probably half of them at captain too. If he scores I get further behind, probably, but at least there's some fun in having a different team. I literally don't see a point playing FPL if we are all going to have identical teams bar 2-3 players. You are literally playing Grealish v Zaha, Bellerin v Justin and Martinez v McCarthy as that's the only difference between the teams.

I also don't look at overall rankings at all, so it boils down to the league with my mates, and having a different team is the only way I can enjoy this.

Ideally I would go back to the two team rule, or even designated player (based on draft) or ban all players above £10m.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
I brought in Zaha last week and already hate him. Palace create nothing whereas you know Hamez will be at the heart of everything Everton do. I'd be thinking the opposite to you, putting Hamez back in and leaving him all season
Hmm, you're right.

My Salah-Hamez-Grealish-Son (Bench: Oriol Romeu) is already a solid midfield.

One big injury to any of the four and my points will take a big nose dive. I have to prepare a good contingency plan. Not sure which midfielders are good heavy hitters at the moment.. seems just Zaha which again is not really impressive but he seems to always get goals now and then which annoys me seeing other teams getting those points out of him. Chelsea is still not consistent and their midfielders still have injury/form issues, as does De Bruyne who I just can't trust at all to be fit.

Now if only Bruno is back to his purple patch form...

That's the game I'm afraid. And sometimes it's why those early weeks are sometimes the most fun, as teams can be a lot different.
But I find the competitive players still tend to quickly hone in on the players to have.

In some ways the "classic" fantasy football game, as modelled in the old fantasy football league from Baddiel and Skinner was the best way, you all bid in your gang of pals for a player and thus only one team can have each player.

But the truth of that, having played that sort of game a few years ago, is that the bidding side of things is the real fun, and when that ends, you can't actually do much with your team at all.

That's why I preferred it when we had that rule in place. Two people had Salah, two people had Sterling, you had to think hard before removing a player because someone else would 'lock' him immediately after you've removed him. It was so much fun. When Son got knocked out from Asian Cup he was already locked within 3 minutes from the final whistle. People were keeping injured players because they didn't want to lose them. It was awesome.

The fun comes from the initial picks though, unless you work to a very small group, say 5-6 people. Once you get to about 10, there's just not that many decent players to pick from left.

They have a home game v West Brom later, so you might find this is the wrong time to laugh at this pick :wenger:
Even if he scores a couple against them, it still wasn't worth it as in that time, Maupay, Bamford, Wilson etc have all got many goals.

Unless he scores like 4 goals or something.. but I don't see that happening as I think they'll lose the match 1-0.

Yep, agreed. We probably all looked at him pre-season, as the promoted clubs always have that one gem or two, but it was clear Fulham just wouldn't have enough about them to sustain it.

I had Pereira for a few game weeks, and West Brom actually look quite attacking, and he got a few returns. But at 6m he's just too expensive to have for such a poor team.

We did not have a limit with initial picks. So you could start with 4 players owning same player but once you've removed him you couldn't get him back. We had 5 players then, it was a small group (these are the best, with WhatsApp groups and all).

If you've kept Mitrovic this long, it was never going to be wise to take him out for Wbrom at home!

Decided to ship Trent for Kilman and Podence for Grealish. Kilman is still offering incredible value at £4.2m regardless of fixtures and Grealish has great form, underlying metrics and good fixtures to come. Never wanted to sell Trent, but surely if there was a time to do so, this is it.

I look forward to Liverpool beating City 1-0 with a Trent free-kick.

I may well also bring in Chilwell, Zouma or PVA for Saïss, or Antonio (if fit) for Jimmy before deadline.

66 points, a decent haul all things considered. Only 10 players involved this week, with no cover for Saiss being out (Mitchell and Dunne the bench options). Donut from Martinez. No Hames.

2 FTs this week. Definitely need to sort out the defense. Might even do -4 for the first time this season.

I've avoided having Kane because he costs a lot. I think I've done ok I am somewhat worried that he has the potential to really kick on and I will be late to the party.

Sometimes I do find Salah a really boring pick. My KDB to Bruno pick went bad but I still feel he has goals in him. Everton may not be the best fixture to do that though.

My rank has improced I'm around 750k now. Not sure I have a particular template as I used my wildcard way too early.

I'm looking at the next set of fixture to target.

Villa have an absolutely cracking set of fixtures. I don't know whether to go Watkins of Grealish, Watkins took that penalty off him but he hasn't scored in regular play since the hattrick vs pool.

Palace look good but do I trust Zaha? I don't know.

Does anyone fancy Arsenal? Auba is never consistent and when he is it comes at a time when no one expects it.

I want to back Leicester as well. Vardy looks nice but is pricey. Maybe I bring in Barnes and remove Foden.

That Lamptey and Dallas goals really fecked me. My rival had these two seconds and third on his bench and they both came on for him.

I should really have Dallas in my squad as I love the man. The Cookstown Cafu.

Would enjoy it more cheering on players I actually like I think. Disgusting getting points for Mo Salah dives
I had Dallas and lots of Leeds fans convinced me to swap him for Ayling...

Apparently Maupay got dropped from the squad because he was getting too big for his boots. Cry-baby bitch.

Two FTs and 0.5 ITB.

I am thinking of bringing in Aubameyang and Zouma for Sterling and Saiss. Looking to ship out Jimenez as well, but can't think of a clear cut alternative without trading up to Vardy/Kane.

McCarthy (Nyland)
TAA - Saiss -> Zouma - KWP - Dallas - Fodder
Salah - Son - Grealish - Sterling -> Aubameyang - Soucek
Jimenez - DCL
- Brewster
Bolded team to start for GW8. Any thoughts on my proposed transfers or an alternative? I am okay to take a (-4) if needed and do 3 Transfers.

Jota for Salah, and Ferran Torres for Sterling could be an option. Imagine what could do with the 12m?

Am I right to say that if I use my WC, my two banked FTs will stay in the bank??

I'm torn between using my WC this week or just using my 2 FTs and using my WC the week after?

Any thoughts or recommendations??

Bolded players are my first XI for this game week and ** represents my captian

McCarthy / Ryan

TAA / Doherty / KWP / Justin / Burn

Son / Jorginho / Salah / Rodriguez / Stephens

DCL / **Kane** / Brewster

I've also got £2.5m in the bank and thinking of TAA out for someone so could easily have £3m+ additional funds.

I actually think you always go back to 1 FT after using your Wildcard.
